  • I need help with choosing an essay topic?

Hi, so for a final essay I have to choose some of the books that I've read this semester. I really want to write a comparison paper between some common themes in A Tale of Two Cities and Persepolis. Does anyone see any common themes because I seem to have an idea but I just can't put it into words. Thanks!

  • Are these enough AP's?

Ok so I'm going to be a junior in high school and I'm just wondering if I have enough of a "challenging course load" to be accepted at good colleges.

    Sophomore Year I took:

AP US History: don't know my AP test score yet but I got a 740 on the SAT subject test

AP Spanish: I got an 800 on the SAT subject test (I'm fluent) and I'm expecting a 5 on the exam.

    Junior Year:

Right now I'm only taking AP European History, which kind of worries me because I hear that you should have a lot of APs. I could take AP Environmental History, AP chem, or AP econ but I really don't want to take chem or econ,

    Senior Year:

I plan on taking AP french4, AP psychology, either AP stats or AP B/C calc, AP government possibly AP physics, and maybe, but probably not, Econ.

So that will be a total of 8 AP classes. Do you think I should add environmental science junior year ? or do you think that this will be enough to get into a really good school. not ivy league (but I still want to know my chances) but maybe Boston University or Boston College or Johns Hopkins?

Just wondering. And just so I know, how does this compare to those who are accepted to ivy league schools, particularly Columbia and UPenn?

    thanks! :)

  • Will being a minority really help me in college admissions?

I'm currently a sophomore at a very diverse public school. My parents are both immigrants and I will be the first generation to go to college in the US. I am fluent in Spanish

I am taking 2 AP classes right now, APUSH and AP spanish (to test out of it).

I haven't taken the AP tests yet, but I'm expecting a 5 on spanish and a 4 on APUSH.

I participated in National History Day.

All my classes are honors with the exception of band and French 2 because it is only offered at the honors level beginning next year, in french 3.

I have a 4.2 GPA (3.8 UW) and i am member of several clubs. I do volunteer work at local hospitals and soup kitchens

I received 2nd place in OH for the Grand Concours national french exam last year and ninth place in the country.

I plan on taking AP european history, ADV english(no AP english offered junior year) and the rest honors classes.

Senior year I want to take AP composition and AP literature. Also, AP psychology, AP Statistics, AP French, and possibly AP physics

Also, I have played on the school's tennis team for the past two years.

I want to go to a good school, so I was wondering if the fact that I'm Hispanic will help get me into a good school such as Boston University . I'm not really looking at the Ivy leagues, but what are my chances then? thanks in advance!

  • How to do this dihybrid cross problem?

Ok so my in my biology class, after doing a bunch of dihybrid problems, we had to make up our own and then give them to a friend. I did my friend's, but when she showed me her answer key, she had a different answer. We disagree, so i figured i would bring it here to settle it (we don't want to wait until class tomorrow because we have to turn it in first thing). Here's her problem.

BTW, we made these up, so the dominant/recessive traits aren't necessarily true.

Penguins are dominant for black eyes and short fur. However, some have blue eyes and longer fur. A female penguin that has black eyes and long fur. The female's father has blue eyes. The female mates with a male penguin who has black eyes and short fur. The male's mother has blue eyes, but both of the parents are homozygous dominant for short hair. What percent of offspring (assume 16) will have black eyes and long fur?

    Thanks!

  • Why am I not searchable on facebook?

Ok, so the other day I met someone new who from another state who I didn't have any friends in common with. She said that she was going to add me on facebook, but later she emailed me and said that she couldn't find me, not even if she typed in where I go to school/where I live, etc. I was wondering if this had anything to do with the fact that I'm under 18? Except I was reading on facebook and it said that it only disabled public search like on google, etc. It's really confusing and I managed to add HER, but i want to be searchable on facebook. does someone know how i can fix it?

  • My macbook and noise?

So i have a macbook..the ones that were released around this time last year. I was just wondering why sometimes (most of the time) when I'm say, leaving a friend a video on facebook or recording a video on photobooth, it has so much background noise, even if it's on a table. It's so annoying because sometimes all you can hear is that annoying "wind" noise. It's all the time: if i move it, etc. Even when I'm video chatting on skype it happens! but i have some friends who have the same computer and it doesn't happen to them...is this fixable?

  • Which racquet is right for me?

OK so i love tennis...but i'm not THAT competitive. i just play on the school JV team. I'm pretty good and pretty consistent and i can hit pretty well. but the thing is, i don't know that much about racquets. i don't need one that's super advanced or expensive, but something that would be good for me...i don't know i feel like i'm asking a really stupid question haha. anything $160.00 and under is a good price range...i just want a good racquet..not the cheap kind, and i want it to give me a little bit more power and control... thanks!!!
