  • mom's morning routine?

    Hi Everyone,

I have been off for the last year with my three year old and almost one year old boys. I will be returning to work shortly and am a little worried about getting everything done in mornings etc.

I was wondering what you guys (moms or dads) have found works when planning a morning routine, can include what you do the night before to make everything easier for you as well.

    Thanks so much,

    Kim

  • Christmas Eve Dinner ideas?

    Hi Everyone,

Last year I was on maternity leave but this Christmas Eve I will be back to work. I am trying to think of a good meal idea for Christmas eve. We will be having the traditional XMAS meal on Christmas day with the whole family but on Christmas Eve it will just be my hubby and my two sons (ages 3 and 1). I want something special but not something that will take a long time since I probably wont get home until at the very earliest 4:30 or 5 pm.

Any thoughts? What are you guys doing?

    Thanks,

    Kim

  • I don't like who I am becoming...?

Okay, I am married and have two beautiful children. I have a nice home and loving family. Everything should be perfect right?

I am having a lot of issues with myself. I feel like I am really not liking the person I have become lately and I don't know what to do about it.

I am still on mat leave, youngest is almost 11 months, and my oldest is three. I feel like I have become this horrible awful person who is screaming at her children all the time, doesn't ever want to be affectionate with her husband and just wants to pull her hair out.

My youngest is still not sleeping through the night. Well, actually, he actually did sleep through the night last night but I woke up at 3:30 and checked on him because I was worried he hadn't had me up. I couldn't get back to sleep until 6 and was up for the day at 7.

I feel like I am just burning out and am horrible and I don't want to be this person. I just don't know what to do about it.

Have any other moms had this issue and been able to get through it?

    Thanks

  • halloween dinner thoughts...?

Hi Moms and Dads, here is my question. I have two children: Ages 3 and almost one.

I want to give them something good before trick or treating but don't want anything that takes to long or is too messy. I know my three year old is going to be itching to get out of the house and start the fun.

What do you normally serve to your little ghosts and ghouls the big night?

    Thanks,

  • Baby shower invite issue...?

My friend and I are throwing a baby shower for another friend of ours because no one in her family will do it. We didn't want her to not have a baby shower as this is her first so we offered to hold one.

Her husband just gave us a list of people to invite and it is 40 people. We don't have a lot of money and we don't have a huge space and I am concerned that we just wont be able to accomodate all of them.

Is it okay to ask him to trim the list because of these reasons? I don't want to be rude and leave people out but I know that if we have that many people here it will be a disaster.

    Thanks,

  • fun filled family night?

    Hi everyone,

I have two children, ages 3 years and 8.5 month old. As they get older I really want to have a night or many during the week for family fun.

I was wondering what kinds of things you do with your kids for at home family fun. Or near the home family fun.

    Thanks,

  • burlington ontario parents?

Hi to any Burlington parents, or any in the surrounding area. This is a summer day camp question. ;)

I just moved to Burlington and I have an 8 month old and a three year old. I was looking around on line for summer camps, not for this year but just to see what is out there since eventually once my son is in school he will need a day camp as well.

When I was looking for some I saw a couple but they had hours like 8:45 to 4:15 etc and for a working mom I could never swing those hours.

Does anyone know of any day camps that work for a working parent who has to be at work for 8 and leaves at 4.

    Thanks

  • Christmas question in regards to family.?

    Here is my question.

I am 30 and my brother is 32. We are both married with two boys each. We have my mom and stepdad and that is our core family. Of course we each have inlaws as well.

My stepfather hates Christmas because of the gift giving and wants to elimate it except for the Grand kids. I am not a greedy person but I love buying presents for my family. I am not the kind of person that buys stuff through out the year because I don't really have the money but I save up all year for Christmas and try to make it special for all the kids and the rest of my family.

My stepfather is the kind of guy who if he wants something will just go out and buy it for himself through out the year but both my family and my brothers can't do that because we don't have a ton of money and pesky things like mortgages and food get in the way.

Is it wrong to still want to exchange gifts with my family? I have never said anyone has to get me something and I don't expect expensive things but seeing someone open up a pretty gift on Christmas morning is like magic to me and I don't want to loose that.

  • Brother in law doesn't wear shoes outside...?

Okay, so here is my little issue. My brother in law doesn't like to wear shoes ever. He lives in Toronto but insists on going everywhere barefoot.

We just moved into a new home and my husband and I invited his Sister, her husband and their children over for a BBQ.

My BIL came over without shoes on and his feet were pretty dirty. We didn't say anything about it at the time but both my husband and I were not impressed. We have new carpets and two small children of our own and don't want the outside dirt being dragged through the house. My youngest is 8 months old and he is putting everything into his mouth.

What is the polite way to deal with this so it doesn't happen again. Things are strained with him and the whole family anyways and I don't want to hurt my SIL either.

    Thanks.

  • Stressed out Mommy...?

Hi Everyone, I am feeling totally at my wits end sometimes. I have a 2.5 year old, a six month old and I am moving in 3 weeks. I am feeling totally overwhelmed right now about balancing both kids and now the move on top of it and it makes me feel like I am not able to actually get anything done. I am behind on the packing, feel like I am always neglecting one child when I am with the other and just want to scream. Part of me wishes I was at work right now because then at least I would get a coffee break.

My husband is great and always trying to help but I am the one home all day and it makes me want to cry sometimes. I feel like a cartoon character. Here I am with my hair in a rats nest and not having showered for a couple days frumpy clothes going nuts because my 6 month old is teething and has been screaming all day unless in my arms, my toddler has been all over me because he feels like I am ignoring him and in walks daddy. He is smiling, just had his hair cut and starts playing with our son. I feel like I am the only one who is overwhelmed.

So, to make a short story long I guess I am looking for ideas to manage anything. Come on all you multi tasking moms, all thoughts are appreciated.\

    End Rant,

  • Dealing with a noisy neighbour?

I want to strangle my neighbour!

My neighbour is a single guy, just turned 30 who has no idea how to be a good neighbour.

He plays his music super loud, gets drunk and disorderly and refuses to turn it down. Example, last night was New Years, I get it, but he turns on his music blaring AFTER midnight and wakes up my 16 month old son. My hubby and I went over and asked him to turn it down, told him he woke up our son and he wasn't interested. He feels he should be able to play his music as loud as he wants whenever he wants and that we should just get over it.

We have called the cops, other neighbors have called the cops and it doesn't do much because they can't do anything besides tell him to turn it down which he doesn't do.

I am at the point were I want to key his car and punch him out and steal his stereo just so he can't play anything.

Anybody else have a similar situation and how did you deal?

  • How do parents keep from...?

getting sick when taking care of your little ones? My son came down with a bug on Thursday. I stayed home with him Thurs Fri, then it was Thanksgiving weekend and by Monday I was sick as a dog. :( Any good tips for not getting sick when caring for your little ones? It's hard, the first couple of days he was so upset the only place he wanted to be was in my arms and he was coughing and sneezing all over me!

    Thanks,

  • Seatbelts and your child?

Okay, does anyone else find it a little crazy that school buses don't have seatbelts?

I mean, we as parents would never even consider putting our child in our car without a seat belt on yet if your child is bused to school you are not wearing a seat belt.

Am I the only one who thinks this is a little crazy?

    Thanks, just a rant.

  • New moms, a hair question if you please...?

I have always had long hair and it has always been thick and very healthy. Since my son has been born my hair has gotten really dry and damaged.

Have any moms had this issue or know of any shampoos/cond that are good for restoring hair.

    Thanks so much,
