CompTIA exam questions that force me to choose what I find wrong drives me insane. Is my answer not more common?
What should you check if a user gets a BSOD and after reboot everything seems to work fine?
Device Manager
Event Viewer
Performance Monitor
Blah

My answer is Event Viewer since everything seems to be working ok then i just want to see where the error happened.
Tests answer was Device Manager because you should go and see if there are driver updates.
Is there anyone that goes strait to the device manager after a BSOD that shows no errors on reboot??
2 AnswersOther - Hardware2 months agoBesides DirectX 11 do you think that 1 ATI Radeon 5850 will out perform 2 crossfired 3870's?
I have said for some time that I was not upgrading video cards until a DirectX 11 video card was available. My problem now is I can't afford 2 cards at the moment. I know that in smaller upgrades 2 GPUs will out perform a single. However, with the age difference in the 3870 and the 5000 series cards. I have a feeling that it will, and with the heat and power consumption difference I think I will be pleased. I am just wondering if someone who has researched more has an opinion.

1 AnswerOther - Hardware1 decade agoHelp with specific program security rights.?
Hi, I am doing some beta testing with Windows 7. Even though this is not specific to Windows 7 this is where I am trying to accomplish this.
What I am looking to do is to run one specific program off of a domain. I have all the credentials I need for the rights, the problem is that I do not want to put the whole OS on the domain. I have tried RUNAS, but I may be doing the sentax wrong. I have made it to where it asks for my password, but it does that no matter what credentials I type. Then it is in the command prompt so when i type a password the cursor does not move for me to even see if it is accepting it.
To sum up: I need to know if someone can tell me how to run this single program with the domain security rights I need with my name and pass. Without having to log onto the domain as a whole.
Note: I can browse all network files and run outlook off the exchange server using my credentials. I just don't know how to do the same with a program redirection.
Thanks very much in advance.
1 AnswerSecurity1 decade agoIs there an easier way to run Cat5 in an all ready built wall?
I have a desktop running off wireless in a house that I wanting to hard wire to the router. I want to run from the router to a jack, up the inside of the wall and across the attic. Then down the wall in the room across the house to another jack, which will run to the computer. My problem is even with a fishing tool I am attempting to trace down another wire previously ran to an electrical outlet. I keep hitting the fire-block in the wall. I would like to see if there is a tool or option that I can use to run this wire down the wall and install a jack without having to cut holes in the drywall except for the network jack itself. Any ideas?
I know how to make all the connections. I just would like to know from any construction/electrician experts if there is a good way to do this without poking holes in the drywall.
6 AnswersComputer Networking1 decade agoI need XP SP3 vs. Vista SP1 opinions?
I have been a Vista hater for quite some time. However, I have been a DirectX 10 lover since I first saw it.
My system specs:
- Intel Core2Quad Q6600 2.6 Ghz overclocked to 3.01
- 4GB Corsair Dual Channel 1066Mhz (Dual-Channel) Dominator
- 2 ATI Radeon 3870HD 512MB VRAM (Crossfired) overclocked to 900Mhz
- Audigy X-Fi Xtreme Gamer Pro
- Asus P5K-Pro 1066 Mhz FSB
- Windows XP SP3
The question:
With this setup I can run just about every game I encounter at max.
What I do read, however, is that multi core processors, my corsair dominator RAM, and HD video cards are geared more towards Vista. The reason I am asking here is I would like some true experienced opinions from people who have a simular setup, and have tried both. Especially for GAMING.
I built this computer from the bottom up, and will probably be moving to the Core i7 soon with DDR3.
So, do you think that with all these components and my future upgrades am I bottle-necking only using a 32-bit operating system with DX9c? Or is it a bunch of sale gimmicks paid for by Microsoft to try and sell Vista? Is DX10 and 64-bit operating worth the change from my beloved XP with my setup?
Thanks in advance
P.S. No stupid answers like use Linux or anything like that please.
