I recently installed a new starter on my 1997 Heritage Softail. A few days later, it began to make a grinding noise during engagement, as well as occasionally not engaging at all. When i removed the primary cover, the teeth on the starter gear riveted to my clutch basket were damaged. Could I have done something wrong during my installation?

I've checked all of the fuses I know to check and I can't figure out why it's not working.

I have a 1980 Honda Gold Wing GL1100I, and I will try to describe this as best I can, as it has me quite puzzled.

I downshifted to 3rd gear last night to pass a car, wound 3rd out, shifted to 4th,etc. When I settled back to the speed limit in 5th gear, I was running on only 3 cylinders. If I open the throttle more than halfway, the skip disappears. I went out this morning and drained the bowls on the carbs, thinking that there may be some water in them. I took it down the road[still skipping] and ran it hard for about 4 miles. After that, the skip was gone, aside from an occasional sputter. About 30 miles into riding it today, I did the same thing to pass a car, and the same thing happened again. I rode it at highway speed at high rpms again for a couple miles, and it went away again. It seems that if I ride it very gently, everything is fine. If I'm riding along on highway speed, pull the choke out long enough for the engine to sputter badly and release the choke, the skip will also go away for about 3 seconds.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

1977 BMW R100 motorcycle. How much oil and what type to use?

Where could I purchase a tach or a multimeter with a tach function that is capable of reading a rise or drop of 50 rpm's or less? I would like to adjust my air mixture screws on my Gold Wing using the idle drop method.

After they die back in the winter, will my gerber daisies return in the spring or do they have to be replanted?

I'm installing a press fit seal in a water pump,and the book says to use a liquid jointing compound on the outside of the seal prior to installation.
