  • Which candidate said this?

“I believe that America's free market has been the engine of America's great progress. It's created a prosperity that is the envy of the world. It's led to a standard of living unmatched in history. And it has provided great rewards to the innovators and risk-takers who have made America a beacon for science, and technology, and discovery…We are all in this together. From CEOs to shareholders, from financiers to factory workers, we all have a stake in each other's success because the more Americans prosper, the more America prospers.”

  • Why is it that the same people who want less government?

smaller government, less taxes, etc. are the same people who totally believe everything the government tells them to, watch only news channels that are sympathetic to the government, and question the patriotism of anyone who questions the politicians who are in control of the government?

Someone who had done door-to-door sales once told me that the houses that had "No Salesmen" signs were the houses with the suckers living there, who were an easy mark. Is this the same phenomenon at work?

  • Are these guys liberals?

Today, two retired Generals who led troops in Iraq expressed outrage at the President's veto of the U.S. Troop Readiness, Veterans' Health, and Iraq Accountability Act.

The President vetoed our troops and the American people. His stubborn commitment to a failed strategy in Iraq is incomprehensible. He committed our great military to a failed strategy in violation of basic principles of war. His failure to mobilize the nation to defeat world wide Islamic extremism is tragic. We deserve more from our commander-in-chief and his administration. -Maj. Gen. John Batiste, USA, Ret.

This administration and the previously Republican controlled legislature have been the most caustic agents against America's Armed Forces in memory. Less than a year ago, the Republicans imposed great hardship on the Army and Marine Corps by their failure to pass a necessary funding language. This time, the President of the United States is holding our Soldiers hostage to his ego. More than ever apparent, only the Army and the Marine Corps are at war - alone, without their President's support. -Maj. Gen. Paul Eaton, USA, Ret.

  • A question about spaying...?

My whole life (I', over 50) the common folk wisdom about spaying puppies is that if you did it too young, before 6 months, that the dog would not mature emotionally until much, much later in life, if at all.

When my wife wanted to spay our mixed breed pup at 3 months, I argued this point (to no avail) . She provided me with a half dozen links to sites and articles that disputed this. But, in the end, the source of the information always had the same agenda: population control. I totally understand that spaying before the first heat greatly reduces the risk of unwanted pregnancy.

However, I am now the owner of a two and a half year old dog who is 3 months old emotionally, i.e. , her responses and behaviors are those of a young pup.

My question is , have others had the same experience? My gut tells me that folk wisdom has some basis in truth, but I'm willing to listen...

  • Does anybody know that Bin Laden received his guerilla training from the CIA back when Bush sr. was director?

I know it's embarassing for Bush devotees, but it's true, and you won't hear about it on Fox News.

  • Did the Bush Administration really believe that Iraq had WMD's?

If they did, then wouldn't massing 200,000 troops in Kuwait (a vital oil conduit for the West and a sworn enemy of Saddam ) while steadily beating the war drums for two months, have to go down in history as the most reckless and assinine military stategy ever?
