  • Need help choosing between 4 vehicles, personal experience would be helpful?

I am currently driving a 2003 Ford Focus Wagon which I have had since my son was born. It has given me a host of problems, but has been for the most part a good car. Now I am looking for something with a 3rd row of seats. I have narrowed it down at this point to 4 vehicles. I'd like anyone's personal experience with any of them - please don't just say "Such and such brand sucks" because a blanket statement like that doesn't help me. Thanks!!

In no particular order the vehicles are:

    Mitsubishi Outlander

    Ford Taurus X

    Honda Pilot

    Saturn Outlook

  • How bad is bird poop for the paint of a vehicle? Really...?

With my husband deployed, his truck sits more than it is driven and where it is parked is under a lamp post where it becomes target practice for bird poop. Aesthetically I'm not really concerned with it, since I barely drive it and it needs a good detailing anyway before he gets home, but is it going to severely damage the paint if I leave it go a few weeks at a time?

  • Help me understand why VA Tech shooter's heritage matters?

I keep reading about how he was from South Korea, how South Korea is speaking out, etc. I really don't understand why it matters where he was born. He was a legal citizen, who cares if he was born in South Korea or South Dakota? I think that the media is grasping at straws looking for some explaination, but in the process I think it's going to create unnecessary racial tension. Thoughts?

  • Help me build a play list for my 3 year old?

I'm looking for a list of songs for my 3 year old son. He loves music and I got him an mp3 player. He has the Cars soundtrack and several e-books on it. He loves pop music like the Black Eyed Peas, but obviously the language isn't ideal for someone his age (duh). Help me build a play list of fun pop songs that aren't going to give his preschool teacher a stroke...

  • Why do people assume faithful military spouses are the exception rather than the rule?

I can understand that there are people out there who have given the military wife a bad reputation, but I can't understand why that would be assumed to be the rule rather than the exception. I have been with my sailor for almost 7 of the 10 years he's been in and never once even thought about cheating on him. My friends are all very faithful to their husbands as well, and would rather sit around with other (female) friends knitting or watching tv than out at the bar trying to find a man. I have only known of a couple of wives who actually cheated on their husbands during a deployment. How do we break down this stereotype?

  • What are your best ways to keep busy when your husband is deployed?

My husband just left for a 6 month deployment to the gulf. I work a full time job and have a 4 year old son. I'm looking for some ideas of things I can do in the evenings and weekends with my son. One thing I have supplies for already is a paper chain. Another idea I want to do is mason jar cakes. I'd love craft ideas that we can send in a care package to the ship. Thanks in advance!

  • Ford Focus owners - mechanical problems? Tell me about them...?

I've got an '03 that I've had a lot of mechanical issues with. It's got les than 60k miles on it, and it just spent 3 weeks getting the transmission replaced. After a week of having it and listening to it make noise still, it's back in the shop. Am I alone in this or have other people had problems with their Focus as well?
