Looking for animation software?
(Wasn't really sure where to categorize this question, so I hope this is okay) So I want to do a project where I make a short cartoon. However, when searching online for an application that will fit my needs I came up with nothing. I would like something where there's a frame-by-frame option to edit each slide. Similar to a flip book but digital! I've found a lot of those GoAnimate things where it gives you stock characters that you can make say things, but that's not really what I'm looking for. If you know of something more like what I'm searching for, that would be amazing! It would be nice if its free or has a trial mode, and not requiring a download would be a plus (though it's fine if it does). Thanks!
1 AnswerSoftware6 years agoCan I put instruments in the Garage?
I have a back room in my garage that I think would be great for music room! However, I live along the gulf coast where the air tends to be hot and humid, and my garage has no AC or insulation. Will putting musical instruments in the garage be an issue? I was planning on leaving a mandolin, an electric keyboard, a violin, and possibly a trumpet or clarinet in this room. Is there anything that could keep the instruments from being damaged, such as leaving them in the cases, buying a large cooler for the wooden ones, or getting a dehumidifier or fan? Or will they be fine since they're inside? Thanks for your help!
6 AnswersDo It Yourself (DIY)7 years agoWhich FanFiction website should I upload my story to?
I wrote a piece of fanfiction (I know, ugh, I normally don't do that sort of thing, but I was bored and had an idea). Anyway, I was curious as to which would be the best home for my story. Of course fanfiction.com is the most widely used, but I've heard ao3 is a little classier. Or should I just upload it straight to tumblr? As I said before, I don't normally write or read fanfiction, so it would be great to get the opinion of someone who actually knows what they're talking about! Thanks!
4 AnswersBooks & Authors7 years agoHow do I figure out his movie plans without sounding obvious?
So I really like this guy, and we both read The Fault in Our Stars (actually he suggested it to me in the first place). Anyway, I really want to go with him to the movie. But he likes this other girl that's he's really good friends with who also read the book and I am about 67% sure they're going together, maybe with a few of his other friends. I'm don't really hang out with his friends, so I don't feel like I can invite myself if that is his plan. So is there a good way to ask him what his plans are and/or get him to invite me without making it obvious or sounding annoying? (I know, tall order). Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
2 AnswersSingles & Dating7 years agoMy Internet is not working, but my computer thinks it is?
I got a computer from my grandparents that used to belong to my grandmother, one of the tiny Acers running Windows XP. It worked fine when she had it, but since I've had it I've had problems. I will connect it to the internet and it will say "Signal Strength Excellent" but when I go onto my internet browser nothing will load and it says I'm not connected. All of my other computers are working fine. At the moment I'm running Internet Explorer, but when I tried to install Chrome using a flash drive it wouldn't let me because I needed an internet connection. I've tried flushing DNS, and there was no change. I also uninstalled Norton because the subscription expired anyway. Is there a way to fix this? Could I have a virus?
1 AnswerOther - Computers7 years agoHow long should I go on in my story before getting to the action?
I'm writing a novel and was wondering how long you think I should keep providing background information and building character relationships before getting into some action. I feel I need to build up the characters some before they are thrown into conflict, but I don't want to bore the reader before I get going. Right now I have a little over 5,000 words or 20 pages of story without much happening and have built some suspense (I know you don't need to worry about word count and instead tell the story, but so you have some idea of about how long I have gone on). Anyway, I don't want the book to feel like I'm rushing into the action, but I also don't want to bore anyone with the absence of action. So how long can you normally deal with character development before you want to see some excitement?
5 AnswersBooks & Authors7 years agoI don't want to date him because I'll have to dump him, what should I do?
Okay, so I found out today this guy friend of mine likes me. He's pretty cool, though a little emotional (he's always joking about death and stuff, and sometimes I'm not sure if he's serious). I think he's going to ask me out soon, but I don't know if I want to date him. But I feel like I'll hurt his feelings and ruin our great friendship if I say no.
The main reason why I don't want to date him is because I know eventually we're going to have to break up. I'm only a junior in high school, and there's no way I'm marrying this boy. But I am AWFUL at breakups. I dated this guy for four months more than necessary last year because I just couldn't bring myself to dump him.
With the current guy though, do you think it would be worse if I reject him when he asks me out, or do you think it will be worse if we date for a while and then break up? I'm worried about hurting him, especially since he's so moody.
5 AnswersSingles & Dating7 years agoIs my grade fair? Should I talk to my teacher?
I have Honors Human Anatomy, which is a very difficult class. I am an A student, so I prepared myself to get at least a B in this class since I've heard it was so hard. Yes, the material has been pretty difficult and if you grade me on my tests and homework normally, I would have about a B. However, this is not the case.
First, we have notebook checks every week where she gives us a large amount of busy work (that I sort of understand the point of, but still) to do at home. She barely glances at our work. I submit the class notes part of it online since I take notes on the computer. She has this strange rule where your name must be on the top in pen on every page of every assignment. I have to copy my work into the online program, so sometimes my name at the top doesn't copy. But our names are at the top of our submission! If we don't have our name at the top, she gives us a 0 on the ENTIRE 125 point notebook, no matter to the fact you did 3 hours worth of homework plus taking beautiful notes. This has caught me 2 or 3 times, and my grade dropped to an unacceptable 72!
When I asked her if there was any way to make up these grades, she informed me that the time to make these up have already passed and that I should be happy with a 72 and not complain, because her class is difficult and most kids that make good grades need to relax when anything goes wrong. Then she told me she was going to put in the grades for my project soon, and since that was such a high point assignment, she was sure it would bring my grade up.
Then I got the score back for our project (which was gluing five articles related to health, answering five questions and writing a summary, and then giving a presentation) and I made a 50/200. The only part I got any credit on was my presentation, which I aced. Apparently my articles were all under 600 words (I didn't count them before I pasted, they just looked like long articles and so I assumed they were fine), so instead of taking off for that and grading the questions and summary like any normal teacher would do, she decided to give me a 0 for all five of the articles! This brought my already cry-worthy grade down even farther.
Do you think I am being unreasonable? I know the material for this class and I actually enjoy it, her grading methods just drive me crazy! Do you think I need to confront her and ask her to change a few things to give me partial credit? I don't want my GPA to suffer, my grades are all I have for getting into college!
3 AnswersTeaching8 years agoShould I write this part as a Prologue or Chapter 1?
I am writing a novel, and I can't figure out whether the first section should be a prologue or chapter one. It discusses an event that happens to the main character, but it takes place about 5 years before the rest of the story. The rest of the book and most of the main character's ideas and actions revolve around this event.
I know a lot of people are very against prologues, so should I just call it chapter one even though it doesn't necessarily match with the rest of the book?
5 AnswersBooks & Authors8 years agoIs Something Wrong With My Nerve?
About two months ago, my mom was handing me a jar of molasses and the metal cap rammed right into my funny bone REALLY HARD. I almost passed out it hurt so bad. I couldn't feel my fingers for about two days after that, and for about a week or two when I would lean on it my elbow would hurt again and my hand would get tingly.
I thought maybe it was just a bruised nerve and it would go away. While it did get better, its not completely gone. If I lean on it for too long or bump it (and not the normal I-bumped-my-funny-bone, I barely hit it), it still hurts and my arm falls asleep at 30x its normal rate if I hold it up for too long. Did I do some serious damage to my nerve? Do I need to go see a doctor? Thank you for your help!
2 AnswersInjuries8 years agoCreative Ideas for Chemistry Project?
I have a project I have to do for chemistry... we make a mole (as in the animal) and dress it as one of the elements on the periodic table. We are supposed to do something cute and punny, like dress it like Superman for Krypton.
Here are some ideas I've had so far:
Indium-an Indian (Native American)
Rutherfordium-dressed as the president, huge beard.
Any other ideas? I've had a few others but now that I look at them they seem dumb. Is anyone good at thinking up meaningful fake names or puns like that? It would be greatly appreciated! I want something clever though, not "Mercury dressed like the planet" or "Neon super colorful."
Thanks again!
