My screen name was my nickname when I was physically able to have my own harness horse racing stable of trotters and pacers. I loved working 7 days a week especially on race days (win or loose). As a disabled veteran I eventually had to use my VA benefits to obtain an associates degree as a paralegal, followed by a BS in the bs of political science. The politicians and attorneys I’ve meet never intimidated or scared me but they always made me feel very under-dressed. I am 50 yrs young, and extremely proud of my 18-year-old (straight A) daughter that is in college studying to be a psychologist. After living with a disabled veteran for 18 years, I know she will make a huge difference in the lives of many other veterans in the future It has been two years now since I made it my life’s ambition to make sure none of our new young veteran are made “legal drug addicts”, complements of the VA being under-funded, under-staffed.and miss managed.

  • Ariz. Sheriff vs. many illegal alien’s: will justice prevail?

'Toughest sheriff' vows face-off with feds over illegals

PHOENIX | The man who likes to call himself "America's toughest sheriff," Joe Arpaio of Maricopa County, Ariz., is planning a Friday showdown with the feds.

The sheriff has announced he will defy the U.S. Department of Homeland Security by doing a street sweep for illegal immigrants one day after the expiration of the agreement that has permitted him to conduct such operations for the past three years. The sheriff has said he expects the deal not to be extended, though federal officials have remained publicly noncommittal.

  • Will Obama tax Military & Veteran healthcare?

Military and Veterans Health Benefits Tax Fight On Capital Hill

By Rick Maze - Staff writer - LibNOT

Fight looms on military, VA health care taxes

A handful of lawmakers are gearing up for a fight to largely exempt military and veterans benefits from the broader health care reform movement.

Two issues are involved. One has to do with whether military and veterans benefits could be taxed in the same fashion as employer-provided health benefits, a proposal included in the 1,018-page health care bill being taken up by the House Education and Labor Committee.

A second question involves potential federally imposed limits on the types and cost of care covered by health insurance, limits that could apply to both direct care from military hospitals and clinics and from the Tricare health plan, as well as to direct care from the veterans health care system.

Republican aides, speaking on the condition of anonymity, said they expect amendments will be offered to protect the military and veterans health plans. Exactly who will offer the amendments and what those amendments might say has not been determined.

I have to mention that there is only one or two trailer parks left up the road, and the ever growing clan in the rented home next to mine came from the trailer park there that have divided homes. Yes a bunch of people can actual rent out ½ of a trailer.

  • I just named 2 psychopathic sisters who own a day-care & abuse little children, just what could they do?

I must add my 20 yr old daughter was in three different day-cares since she was three months old, and thrived there. None is like the one I am referring to five feet from my home.

And a daughter/niece as their attorney who represents their day-care, and I made sure the magistrate read this in front of me (last Year):

TO: YOU’RE HONOR PIERANTONI the III

    From: Patricia X XXXX

Re: Below is the statement which I handed to the Duryea Police Officer when I asked him to PLEASE file the charges; these charges which were demanded deceitfully, unjustly, and vindictively by nanny rose day-care. The very charges for which I am humbly here before you today.

  • Do you think Italy’s new immigration policy reinforces the necessity of separation between church & state?

“Since last Friday Italy has sent back to Libya more than 500 migrants despite criticism from the United Nations, the Catholic Church and humanitarian organisations. MARONI URGES EU TO HELP FRONTLINE STATES.”

“Interior Minister Roberto Maroni, who has been spearheading the new measures, urged the European Union to help member states bearing the brunt of illegal immigration in the Mediterranean.”

''Italy is a frontline state against illegal immigration and invests its own funds to protect other European countries but we want the EU to take decisions which it has so far avoided and help countries which face this problem,'' said Maroni.”

  • Will Sharpton or Jackson actually do something right to help these three beautiful children?

"Moving to Mississippi obviously put them a thousand miles away from their pet, from their beloved Cheeks," said Vince Sweeney of the Luzerne County SPCA.

Cheeks and the children lived on Lehigh Street in Wilkes-Barre until March of this year. That's when Kewaii Togers Buckner, the children's mother, was shot and killed.

Police said her husband was responsible and the children saw it happen.

"There's an awful lot of misery in this case, there really is," Sweeney said.

The children desperately miss their pet and thanks to Joe Baran, they will be reunited.”

These kid’s deserve more than just their dog back (which is fantastic for now), they deserve a life with a college education.

Not being disrespectful or political here, but children in the Middle East have seen this for decades, and many are now the parents of their own children all of whom are still seeing basically the same thing presently.

  • Can you explain why Obama wants at least 5 billion for public welfare housing?

    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

    Contact: Tom Edwards, HAL editor

    Tel. 800-666-6380

OBAMA WANTS BILLIONS FOR PUBLIC HOUSING

WASHINGTON, DC (December 12, 2008) -- Housing Affairs Letter, an independent online/print news service covering public, private, and assisted housing since 1961, learns the Obama administration intends to make restoration of deteriorating public housing a cornerstone of its domestic agenda.

Insiders tell HAL that President-elect Obama and congressional Democrats propose as much as $5 billion for a new stimulus plan that would put thousands to work rehabilitating public housing.

The intent is to make inroads into the estimated $32 billion backlog of critical public housing repairs, largely the result of deep cuts made to public housing since 2002, when the Bush administration made homeownership its priority.

Public housing authorities have been forced to dip into capital funds for basic operations, making it difficult to afford little more than basic repairs. Making the problem worse are HUD rules that crimp PHA flexibility to use capital funds to leverage private and government financing to offset the loss. Without adequate money to leverage financing, PHAs are caught in a classic Catch-22 situation.

The move to include public housing capital funding in a stimulus proposal accelerated after a study for the Council of Large Public Housing Authorities and Public Housing Authorities Directors Assn. showed replacing existing public housing would cost taxpayers $145 billion.

The study says an $8.1 billion investment in public housing generated $8.2 billion in indirect economic activity in one year. Housing advocates and lawmakers point to the demonstrated investment benefits to argue for their massive effort to rebuild public housing while providing an economic stimulus.

The reasoning is that not only would it restore the country's public housing stock to accommodate workers who don't earn enough to even afford what is commonly termed affordable housing, it would also allow hiring of thousands of workers, many semi-skilled and already public housing residents.

  • Is our use of (expletive) language our children’s problem?

Attorneys say truck owner has right to display message

Sign by Hughestown man that contains expletive might be judged obscene, but lawyers contend it’s free speech.

    By Edward Lewis elewis@timesleader.com

    Staff Writer

A Hughestown man has the right to express his opinion in any way he seems fit, including the use of a word many deem obscene, two attorneys said.

Joseph Decker, 39, of Parsonage Street, was charged by Hughestown police with disorderly conduct over a sign he placed in the rear window of his Dodge Ram pickup truck.

Decker said he placed the sign that says, “If you’re in America and can’t speak English, get the (expletive) out” after he called his bank and had trouble understanding the call taker a few months ago.

  • Should campaigning be kept out of the daily senate business? ?

It should be illegal for democrat Senators to use their time speaking in the senate JUST to campaign against McCain.

Reid just did it again today while speaking on; The Economy and Housing Market, and then was followed by Cardin. In my opinion this proves how unscrupulous and immoral some democrats really are. How can Reid claim the solution must be bipartisan while campaigning against McCain who is not even there to defend himself? Should campaigning be kept out of senate business?

    C-Span must be made bipartisan.

  • How can Vontage make an illegal charge on an account not in existence?

June 30th I called to try the Vontage phone service and was billed $30 dollars for shipping on my bank debit card. I took the 500 out-going minutes a month for $14.99 a month with the first month free. I was not able to get someone to hook it up (it is still in the box). On the 1st of this month my account was charged $30.39 charge. It is not even in service yet. When I called them about the charge this morning I was told they where charging me a disconnection fee of $114.19. My bank said the charge just came in. Vontage knew their service was not hooked up yet because it requires two working hands to hook it up and I could not do it (I use Dragon voice recognition software on the computer). What can I do, Vontage said they NEVER return fees? And to top things off I had told Vontage June 30th that the shipping charge payment on the debt card was a one time charge to e-mail the bill for $14.99 a month and it would be paid by me through my account. I specifically stated no automatic withdraws. Help

  • How can this actually be legal?

The gray home in these pictures (on the left is mine), the day-cares garbage dumpster is 5 inches from my property line---the home to the right of the day-care is one of the rental properties owned by the day-care. There is a little explanation under each picture. The question here what can I do? The dumpster is next to my home because I tried civilly to help the little children and move the garbage dumpster with the owner – whom – is now being totally vindictive and is intentionally causing damage to my home and health. Workers who have to scream at little children should be in another line of work. While I’m on my computer or in my yard I feel like I’m being screamed at too.

My daughter now in college was in three different day-care facilities since she was three months old and I have never seen one like this one.

  • Which is the most dangerous job to protect U.S.? The Military, Federal Agents, the DEA or Local Officers?

Presently our local Law Enforcement has their hands tied by the federal laws when it comes to enforcing illegal immigration laws.

Federal enforcement agents are scarce because it is also a dangerous job. This video shows the DEA at work (sorry about the brief commercial).
