  • Anyone know the fate of HP's Firebird serious desktops?

I have been reading that HP's Firebird 803 desktop is no longer available, and the 802's supply is even nearing an end. So, what gives? Is HP killing Voodoo PC's altogether? Or am I being paranoid here. I'm looking to get the 803 if I can find it someplace.

  • Does the HP Firebird 802/803 support more than 4GB of memory?

I've looked around the internet but can't find an answer on this. On Crucial's website, they say that it can support only up to 4GB of memory (2x2GB sticks). I know that the system only has 2 slots, so to go higher would require 4GB sticks that are high-priced at the time of this posting, but it's an option I'm willing to consider down the pipeline when I need more memory. Thanks in advance!

  • BIOS only sees 3 GB memory even though 4 GB is installed?

Hi all, I have a DFI Infinity NF4 SLI motherboard and currently have 4 GB of memory installed in it (4 x 1 GB sticks). In the BIOS, only 3 GB is shown, but when I boot up Windows Vista (32-bit), 4 GB is shown in the 'Welcome Center' window. I know that 32-bit operating systems can only use 3 GB, but is there something wrong with the BIOS preventing it from seeing all 4 GB of memory? Or is that just how it is? I do plan on installing Vista 64-bit very soon to utilize all 4 GB. Thanks!

  • DFI Inifinity Motherboard Power Problem!?

I have a DFI Infinity NF4 SLI motherboard with an Antec 350W powersupply. Lately I've been having problems getting the motherboard to turn on. When I press the power button, no fans turn on and nothing in general happens except for the standby power LED on the motherboard is on. Has my power supply failed me?

    System specifications:

    AMD Athlon 3800+ X2 (Socket 939)

    3 GB memory (2 x 1 GB + 2 x 512 MB @ 333 MHz)

    XFX NVidia 7600 GT (x 2, 256 MB each)

    250 GB Western Digital HD @ 7200 RPM (PATA/IDE)

    160 GB Seagate HD @ 7200 RPM (PATA/IDE)

    Memorex DVD Dual-Layer Burner (PATA/IDE)

    TDK CD-RW Burner (PATA/IDE)

  • How long do you think a MacBook Pro will last me?

I'm a software developer looking to get a new laptop. I'm already waiting on a MacBook Pro (MBP) to come in within the next week or so. I do plan on putting Windows Vista on it using Boot Camp so I can still develop for Windows. I'm curious on whether the MBP will survive, say, 4 to 5 years before I have to get another laptop.

My previous laptop was a Gateway M320X, which gave out after just barely 3 years of service...

  • Vista freezes from time to time... UAC problem?

I recently installed Windows Vista Home Premium and have noticed a troublesome delay when doing some things in Vista. For example, I could be switching from one application to the next and Vista would hang for about 10 seconds then resume. I could even be switching from one web page to another in IE7 and the same thing would happen. I want to blame this on UAC... but am not sure what could be the problem. Here's my system stats:

    Motherboard: DFI Infinity SLI (NF4)

    Memory: 2GB

    Processor: AMD Athlon 64 - 3200

Hard Drive: 250 GB Western Digital
