1 AnswerTelevision1 decade agoWhat was Beatrice accusing Dante of (in Purgatorio)?
When Dante saw how Beatrice, the fairest thing on earth, died and left the soul received, he should have risen at once above things mortal to the eternal and true life into which she had entered. (See Purgatorio 31. 49-75)
After Beatrice speaks, Dante reacts shamefully. (See Purgatorio 31. 64-69 and 74-75)
Now the question is: What was Beatrice accusing Dante of?
Point out literal meanings and their metaphorical meanings. Finally, tie it all up to our understanding of Purgatorio.
