Writing a book about myself?
Hi Folks
I am thinking of getting someone (ghost writer) to write a book about myself. I am just an ordinary guy - not famous in any way, but I just want to write my experiences and difficulties that I had growing up. My parents are both immigrants and came to England in the 1960s. I had a very restrictive and harsh upbringing, got bullied at school etc. I hated my childhood.
Do you think it would be a good idea to write my experiences? I will of course change all names and places. The book would be ideally intended for readers whose parents were immigrants or who had a sad/difficult childhood. How would I know that my book will sell or do you think I would be wasting my time?
Thanks in advance for your responses.
5 AnswersBooks & Authors6 years agoShould I get extras fitted in from my dealer or garage?
Good Morning Folks
I live in the UK and have selected a used car - a Seat Ibiza, to buy from a Seat dealer. However, I would also like some extras fitted in such as :
1. Sun roof
2. Sat Nav
3. Blue tooth
3. USB Connections
4, Leather Seats
5. Parking Sensors
6. LED lights.
Do you think I should have these extras fitted from the dealer (and have the warranty in place) or go to a private garage to have the work done?
Any advice greatly appreciated.

6 AnswersOther - Advertising & Marketing7 years agoWhere to buy online greenhouse glass sheets in the UK?
Hi Folks
Due to the recent bad weather, one of my glass sheets on my greenhouse cracked. It is not ‘proper’ glass, so could anybody tell me the proper name for it? Where could I buy a sheet for a reasonable price on line? Are the sizes standard?

2 AnswersGarden & Landscape7 years agoTenant not paying rent and never has paid rent !!?
Hi Folks
I live in the UK and I let out my property for rent to a tenant about a month before Xmas. The lady is not working and she has three children who were in care at that time – she says they are still in care. (She split from her partner & got custody of the kids). At the time of letting the property out, she managed to convince me that she does not have enough money to pay any rent and promised me that she will be able to pay rent once she gets Housing Benefit. She also promised me that she will apply for Housing Benefit asap and that it was just a case of transferring the payments from her old property (where she was also paying rent, to my property). Foolishly, I took pity on her (single mum with 3 kids) and decided to give the keys to the property to her.
She has now been living there for about 6 weeks and keeps telling me that she has not heard anything about her Housing Benefit claim from the council, and when I call the council, they say that they can’t discuss the application with me because the tenant has instructed them not to do so.
Can you please advice what I should do in these circumstances?
Thanks in advance for your response.

4 AnswersCorporations8 years agoIs anybody aware of any good mobile phone deals for children?
Hi Folks
I am thinking of buying mobile phones for my two children - they are both 11 years of age.
Is anyone aware of any goods deals going at the moment contract or sim only? I’m not too bothered about the amount of free talk time minutes or the number of free text messages etc. I only want to use the phones to keep in touch with them if they are coming late from school etc.
Thanks in advance for your response
5 AnswersMobile Phones & Plans8 years agoToo old to go to the gym?
Hi Folks
I am an Asian male in my mid-forties, living in the UK, and have a small stature. I am only 5 foot tall and weigh 65kg.
I have never visited a gym before and never consciously done any fitness exercises. This has partly due to the act that I have a slight physical disability – my right side is weaker than my left, and my strength is about 40% of a normal person of my age/stature. As you can imagine, throughout most of my school life I was called all sorts of names such as shorty and weakling etc. I also suffered depression for a number of years after leaving school because of that.
I have now decided to start going to the gym to gain more muscle, strength and bulk up. In all honesty, do you think it is a bit late now to do this, considering my age? If you think I should go ahead with this idea, I haven’t got much of a clue of where to start off in terms of exercises, how much of each exercise I would need to do or how often. On top of that, I haven’t got much of a clue of what things to eat which would help me to gain strength and bulk up etc.
I have tried to look at various websites on the internet to gain that information, but there is so much information available I don’t know where to start!!
Would someone be kind enough to point me in the right direction and how to progress on my journey to get more muscle and eventually bulk up?
Thanks in advance for your response.
3 AnswersDiet & Fitness9 years agoSon’s school teachers not responding to my request?
Hi folks
My son has just started secondary school and about a month ago, I sent an email request to his subject teachers to send me details of all the topics/syllabus they will be covering this year. I thought that would be a good idea since I could then help him along at home and try and provide any additional support.
However, after repeated requests, only about 2 or 3 teachers have replied. I have also emailed the head of the year who said she has forwarded the request on to the respective subject teachers, and cannot ‘force’ them to send me the information requested.
Can you please advice if I should chasing the teachers until I get a response or shall I take a different approach?
Thanks in advance for your responses.
4 AnswersHomework Help9 years agoTemping assignment got terminated without any valid reason?
Hi folks
I have been temping as a credit controller, through a recruitment agency, for a large organisation for about a month now. Everything seemed to have been going fine and the agency was getting good feedback regarding my work performance etc.
However, today I had a day off work (I booked the day off last week), and this afternoon the agency rang me to say the company has decided to terminate my contract. They did not give any specific details as to the reason why.
I have still got my team leader's email address (where I was working) and was wondering whether or not it would be a good idea if I contacted my team leader to ask the reason why my role was terminated.
Any advice offered would be greatly appreciated.
4 AnswersLaw & Legal9 years agoAdvice required - Looking for a job in London?
Hi Folks
I live in the Midlands and finding it difficult to get a job. (I am looking for a job in the accountancy/finance sector). I am now thinking of expanding my job search by locating jobs in London. If I am fortunate enough to get a job in that area of the country, I could catch a train every morning which would take me directly to London Euston, and from there, it would hopefully be a short ride on the tube or bus to get to work.
Therefore, could some one be kind enough to tell me what areas I could get to from Euston which would be easily commutable?
Thanks in advance for your responses.

Hi Folks
II live in the UK and my son will be starting year 7 secondary school, in September. During the summer holidays, I was thinking of teaching him some topics in Maths and English which are covered in year 7. Do you think that would be a good idea? If so, where is the best place to go in order to find out what topics are covered in year 7 in subjects such as Maths, English and Science. Are there any other subjects that you think that I could help him in during the summer holidays?

2 AnswersPrimary & Secondary Education9 years agoPlease advice if I should appeal for a place for my twins for a school in much demand?
Hi Folks
We live in the UK and have twins who have both been offered places at the 3rd preference school. Our preferred 1st choice was a C of E school. However, because this school is much in demand, I have been told that appeals are not very successful. Last year, there were 74 appeals lodged, and only 1 successful.
One of the reasons why my twins were not offered a place is because the governors thought our supporting evidence for faith committment was not as strong as those families whose children have been offered a place, although we have been attending the local temple for the last 30 years!
If we do appeal, do you think it would be good if we provde further evidence of faith commitment? Also, would it be a good idea to take in a representative to do the talking for us, because both my wife and I are not very good at talking in front of a panel - we both get nervous !!
Thanks in advance for your response.
1 AnswerPrimary & Secondary Education9 years agoWhat is the procedure for secondary school selections?
Hi Folks
I live in the UK and I have twins who are in year 6, and so this coming week we will find out if they get the place in the secondary school of their 1st choice.
Since completing the forms for application to secondary schools, my wife and I have decided that if our kids don’t get selected for their 1st choice school, then we would like them to go to the school marked as 3rd choice on the application form (assuming the 3rd choice school offers them a place).
My question is – If they do not get selected for their 1st choice and the school marked 2nd choice offer them a place, then is it compulsory for us to accept it or can we still accept the 3rd choice school (assuming the 3rd choice school offers them a place).
Finally, if they are not offered a place at the 1st choice school, we are thinking of appealing against the decision. Is there a standard procedure to go through when you lodge an appeal or does each school have their own procedures?
Thanks in advance for your response.
2 AnswersPrimary & Secondary Education9 years agoHow do I optimise my website?

3 AnswersSearch Engine Optimisation9 years agoHow do I change gears manually on my mercedes c class automatic?
Hi folks
I live in the UK and own a 2008 mercedes c class. As most of you may already be aware, it has automatic transmission. However, in the user guide it states that the owner has the option to shift gears manually. I have tried to follow the steps outlined in the guide and change gears manually, but I am getting slightly confused of the procedure to do this.
The procedure to do this described in the manual states that if you press the gear lever towards D+ then the automatic transmission shifts up one gear depending on the gear program selected. However, what does it mean by ‘depending on the gear program selected’, and how would I know what gear the car is in?
The manual goes on to say that shifting up a gear will extend the shift range but moving down a gear will restrict the shift range. What does it mean by extending and restricting the gear range?
Finally, will any of you folks be able to direct me to any websites ( or videos such as you tube), which explain the procedure for doing this?
Thanks in advance for your responses..
