  • Are activities conducted within a Private Membership Association exempted from most public health laws?

    According to this page:

    http://actnowpma.info/PrivateMemberAssoc.html

Private Membership Associations enjoy a general immunity to public laws, regulations and internal rules of local, state and federal administrative agencies (including, but not limited to, the FDA) that protect the public health.

    Is this statement true?

  • Can anyone tell me the history of the town of ELlsworth, Pennsylvania?

My mother told a story about one of our ancestors who founded the town of Ellsworth PA, and that ever since, the first born male child of each generation was always named ellsworth.

Also, supposedly my grandfather, Ellsworth Hughes, was a famous person in Pennsylvania, and had a building named after him in Pittsburgh.

I'd like to try to confirm some of this.

    Thanks :)

  • Water-filled engine update?

The engine is running! A lot of steam is coming out of the exhaust, and I still need to flush the cooling system, but she's much improved since last night... thanks DodgeMan :)

  • I filled my engine with water... how do I fix it?

I have a 1996 dodge intrepid. I was trying to do a radiator flush, and installed the garden hose adapter into the wrong hose( the hose in the top of the engine marked "heater"), and filled my engine with water... oil pan had more than a gallon of water in it... it's draining now... what else do I need to do besides an oil change?

  • Is anyone who disagrees with anything the neocons stand for automatically a liberal?

I'm a proud member of the republican party. I own several guns, have extensive holdings in the stock market, drive American cars and have 2 pit bulls. However, because I'm in favor of things like universal health care and civil liberties, I find myself constantly being called a 'liberal' by my fellow republicans. Is this fair? Are there other Republicans out there that feel betrayed by where the party has gone recently?

  • Letting mexican trucks into the US: A good idea?

    This news story:

Dozens dead in Mexico truck crash and blast

    http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20070910/ts_nm/mexico_b...

underscores the danger of letting Mexican trucks onto US roadways... this was a truck loaded down with explosives, driven by a diver who probably didn't have HAZMAT certification... a simple traffic accident turned into a horrible tragedy, which could have been avoided if a few simple safety principles had been adhered to.

Do we really want this on US roads?

  • How many trees will have to be planted to offset the carbon emitted by the Live Earth concerts?

Be sure to include the carbon load of transporting all the artists, crew, and spectators to the venues and back home again, plus the energy used by the sound, lighting, laser shows, and tranmission equipment, plus the energy used by all the garbage trucks that clean up the mess.

Bonus question: How much of this was unnecessary? Could Sting have played their show unplugged? Could Madonna have used one fewer laser? Please elaborate.

  • Has the US constitution been abrogated?

I have been in court a few times, and it would seem that the US constitution is no longer in effect. For example, I was found guilty by a court convened by the Environmental protection Agency for selling my hand-printed t-shirts on the street, even though I proved that I had a constitutional right to do so. Once I asked for a jury trial for a $50 parking ticket, but my request was denied even though the constitution clearly states that I am entitled to a jury trial for any matter exceeding $40. I am beginning to believe that the US government has secretly cancelled the constitution, perhaps through a secret Executive order. Is this possible?
