  • Could anyone suggest some electro music?

I am by no means a music expert. Don't even know the difference between dubstep, techno, electro, or what not, so I guess it's very difficult to narrow down what I'd like. Mostly I just hear stuff from movies, video games, and that's that.

I'm looking for a specific... beat, so to speak. If you guys have heard of the following:

    > Mad Moxxi's Arena (Borderlands video game, mostly drums, I believe)

    > Paradigm Shift (Need For Speed: High Stakes)

    > Drive (AcceleRacers, Jim Kaufman, iirc)

    > Pump to the Bass (Big Electro)

A light combination of drums and some techno / electro thrown in. I'm sorry I couldn't be more specific, but it's all I have (that I can describe).

I'd be grateful to anyone and everyone who can suggest something similar.

    Thanks in advanced.

  • Where can I get an older version of MySQL that works with .NET 2.0?

Do you guys know where I can get an older version of MySQL that works with .NET 2.0? I tried downloading straight off from their website, but the latest version requires .NET 4.0.

The PC's at my school all have only .NET 2.0 and since I am a student, it would be impossible to upgrade the computers.

  • What should I buy? GeForce GTS 250 512MB or 1GB?

I'm planning a graphics card upgrade. The (inno3D) GeForce GTS 250 caught my eye as 'cheap and effective', although cheap there is relative.

The 512MB version costs some P3850 (roughly $90) while the 1GB version costs around P4500 ($105).

Other than the amount of RAM they have, they are exactly the same. 256-bit, DDR3 memory, clock speeds and frequency and stuff.

I'd like to ask you knowledgeable dudes out there. I'm going to doing some *medium gaming* (StarCraft II, Arkham Asylum, Alice: MR, Fallout 3, Borderlands), and it's okay if I can't run games at the highest graphics settings, for as long as I'm not forced to play it at lowest settings.

Since most people say that the amount of RAM used is dependent on the monitor resolution, mine is at 1440 x 900.

So, which one should I spring for? The 512mb version, or the 1GB version?

    Thanks.

    P.S.

    - Please don't suggest another card. My motherboard supports only nVidia.

    - I'm not interested in future-proofing my rig. If the 512MB is good enough, then 512MB it is.

    - For reference, my rig has an Intel Pentium Dual Core 3.2Ghz with 3GB of RAM. Not the most powerful stuff, but it gets the job done.

  • Question about Alice Madness Returns PC Version's gameplay?

I was thinking about picking this up, but first, the question:

Has it been *fully consolized*? I mean, is it just a cheap port to the PC?

Are the controls designed to use a slow joystick, with absolutely no quick way to suddenly look behind you, as you would with a mouse?

Does it have *one button does all* controls, and (gasp, shudder) the dreaded auto-aim?

For those who got the PC version, please answer.

  • How do I restore a Database using SQL?

I backed up my Database using SQL, and it ended up as a .bak file.

A system reformat was done on my PC, so I'm pretty sure I lost the database, but I do have the backup file. How do I restore / create a database from the .bak file?

I tired making a new Database with the exact same name in trying to restore it from there, but it won't work.

  • Why won't my PC boot after a CPU upgrade?

Let's not say "You fried your MoBo." yet.

I bought an Intel Pentium Dual Core E5800, 3.2Ghz 2mb Cache to replace my aging (and old) Intel Pentium Dual Core 1.8Ghz.

My Motherboard is the Asus P5NSLI, and I was told that this CPU would have no problems whatsoever. However, upon replacing the CPU (I did nothing else, no BIOS upgrade, etc.), the motherboard won't even make it to the BIOS. I tried removing the Hard Drives, DVD Drives, and the 2 1GB RAM sticks (one at a time), but I still get nothing.

What I haven't tried: Replaced the newer CPU with the older one, BIOS update (wasn't sure if that was necessary), and removing the clock battery.

The fans work fine. The CPU fan works fine, and my Motherboard light comes on, as do the HDD and the power light. The LAN light, however, doesn't go on (even though there's something in it).

    Any suggestions? Thoughts?

  • Which of the following Browsers would best suit me?

    FireFox 4 (Currently using it)

    Chrome

    IE9

Now, I'm an IT student, so installing and migrating is never a problem, and I could easily just find out for myself, but I also believe in energy conservation, which means if it's not worth it I won't bother (also known as *lazy*). I want someone's opinion.

I often find myself using no less than 5 tabs when browsing. IE8, my previous browser, was an absolute snail (to say dog would be an insult to dogs). 1 Facebook Tab, 2 YouTube Tabs, and so, and my CPU spikes up to 100%. I got tired of it, and switched to FireFox 4.

While there is a noticeable speed increase, it also takes a long time to load. And as usual, any tab with flash involved absolutely eats up my CPU.

I'd like to ask you people, **What is the fastest browser, all things considered?** Chrome might be the obvious answer to some, but IE9 supports (supposedly) hardware acceleration, and I really dig the pinned sites feature. And I'm running Windows 7.

I like speed. I like not seeing my CPU shoot up to 100%. But if there's little to no difference to FireFox 4, I don't see a reason to switch.

    Specs:

Intel Pentium Dual Core 1.8 Ghz

    GeForce 8600GT 512MB

    2GB DDR2 RAM

  • In PHP, why does my array overwrite the last item I inserted?

    if ($itemDBasename == "Flyff1")

    {

    global $itemName;

    global $itemQuan;

    $itemName[] = "Flyff20";

    $itemQuan[] = $itemtoBuy;

    }

In the sample code above, both $itemName and $itemQuan are values passed from a Session variable. It has no starting value. However, when I display the contents of the array, the first element is the word "Array" and the second element is always the last item I added to the array. I tried using the array_push() function, but the results are the same. I could never get the Array Count to go past 2.

Why does it overwrite the last element? And why is there an "Array" in the first element?

  • What is the best database for C# for Local Area applications?

I'm using C# 2005 to create an automated inventory program. However, the database needs to be accessed by more than one users, over a Local Area Connection. I use MS Access 2007, because I find it easy, but I'm not sure if it can handle this task.

So, my question is, is there a good database application for C# that can handle simultaneous users? My classmate recommended MySQL. Any suggestions?

  • What are the types of electric wires used in a home?

I'm working on a computer program that simulates the old "Light a bulb using wires and a battery" lab experiment. I need to know the types of wires that can be used in this scenario. More importantly, I need to know the advantages / disadvantages of each, if there is any.

Copper, I work with that frequently. Never seen galvanized steel (whatever that means).

Any help on the wires would be appreciated. The most thorough answer will get best answer.

  • How's the gameplay of the new Aliens vs. Predator (from SEGA) on the PC?

I loved AvP2 on PC. It had great gameplay, great graphics for its time, and was definitely creepy. So I was excited when I heard that the new AvP from SEGA is out.

    So my question is:

Did anyone try it out on the PC? How is it? Please tell me it isn't just another bastardized console-to-PC port, with the console's lack of controls, depth. and realism. Auto aim, Auto jump, and all that crap.

  • How to reformat and Dual boot XP and Vista?

I've got two hard drives on my PC. a 40GB and a 160GB. Vista is installed by default. After waiting a few months, XP finally came.

The 40GB is partitioned into 30GB and 10GB. The 160GB is left alone.

Vista is installed in the 30GB partition. I want to reformat my PC, install the Vista on the 160GB, remove the partition on the 40GB drive, and install XP on it.

    From this:

    30GB - Vista

    10GB - Backup

    160GB - Files / Programs

    To this:

    40GB - XP

    160GB - Vista

Can anyone please give me a straight answer? And how do you merge partitions using an XP CD?

  • Left 4 Dead suddenly exits to desktop?

My friend gave me a ripped copy of Left 4 Dead. I installed it on my Vista PC using a batch file. Strange it doesn't appear in the Control Panel and the Start Menu. But I started playing it anyway. After 5 - 15 minutes of game time, it just quits to the desktop. No errors, no lag, no nothing.

So I uninstalled the Left 4 Dead and my friend gave me an ISO version (in a DVD). It works even better than the previous version, with entries in the Start Menu and the Control Panel.

But it still exits to the desktop. I'm pretty sure my PC can run it (look for the specs below), since mine can run TES4: Oblivion at all max settings.

I tried the whole 'disable UAC', 'run as admin', 'run with compatibility mode for WinXP SP2', disable 'multi-core rendering,' heck, I even lowered the graphics to the lowest possible setting. Nothing works. It always quits.

Weird though, if I lower the graphics, my game quits in around 2 minutes. If I upped the graphics, it lasts longer. I hope this is just a graphics driver problem, though I don't know how to check for my driver version, nor do I know what version to get in case mine is outdated.

    Any suggestions?

    Specs:

    Intel Pentium Dual-Core 1.8Ghz 1mb cache

    ASUS P5NSLI

    2 GB DDR2 RAM

    nVidia GeForce 8600GT 512MB

    160GB Hard Drive (120GB left)

    Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit

It's hard to find legal games here in the Philippines, and if you do find one, it would cost as much as buying a new graphics card. I know my game isn't a legal copy, but it's got nothing to do with that. The game (same ripped version) runs fine on my friend's PC, although he has an Windows XP.

  • How do I remove XP from my Dual Boot PC?

I know a lot of people will say 'nay' to this, but I don't want to go through all the trouble of managing two OS's.

See, I have 2 Hard drives. All are NTFS.

One is a 160GB Western Digital (SATA), with XP on it. Drive C.

The other is a 40GB Samsung. It is partitioned into E and F. Vista is on E.

How do I remove XP, so that Vista will be my default (and only) OS? I've already used EasyBCD to remove the XP from the Boot Selection, so now, erasing the XP drive seems to be my only problem.

I tried reformatting it, but Windows says "Unable to Reformat"; XP itself doesn't have an uninstall option in it's Control Panel.

How can I remove XP? Also, is it possible to change the Drive letters, without damaging anything? Cause I want Vista to be C...

  • How to Overclock an Intel Pentium Dual Core 2160?

    Here are my specs:

    Intel Pentium Dual Core 2160 @ 1.8GHz

    ASUS P5NSLI Motherboard (FSB 1066MHz, Dual DDR2 667)

    Kingston 2GB Stick DDR2-800

    nVidia GeForce 8600GT 512MB

    OS: Windows XP

Been playing around with my PC, so far, so good, but it is a bit slow in gaming. So, here are my questions.

How can I overclock this thing? I just want the CPU to get past 2.4Ghz, maybe 2.66GHz? Should be no prob for a chip that's supposed to reach 3.0Ghz air cooled.

How does my CPU stand up against the AMD X2 4800+ series, the 2.4Ghz ones? I was told that mine is faster IF I overclock it.

    Please and thanks.

  • Buying PC Parts? Filipinos, anyone, help me please...?

Hi, I live in the Philippines, I've got a budget of, more or less, P11,000. I know it's not much, but it's all I have for now.

I'm looking into buying a good CPU. A classmate bought one from TechPoint, Quezon city, for a total P11,500.

However, his rig only has a Pentium Dual Core 1.8GHz, and a GeForce 8500GT.

    My questions are:

    > His Graphics card cost around P2200. Any ideas where I can get something higher without going over P3000?

    > In the U.S., the low end Core 2 Duos are cheaper and faster than the Pentium D. The E4400 and E6400 models, 1.8Ghz. Any ideas where I can buy them without going over P3000? Are there any AMD Dual Core CPUs I should consider?

    > In case I can only have either a better Graphics card, or a better CPU (not both), which will help speed up gaming?

    Please and thanks.

I have an option 'Availability' in the Admin Form, using Checkboxes. Basically, I want certain items in the Cashier form to be disabled if some of the checkboxes in the Admin form are not checked.

    Any Ideas?

  • Twisted Metal Head-On Main theme?

Does anyone now where I can get the Main theme of Twisted Metal: Head-On? The PSP version... I don't know if Extra Twisted edition has the same music as the PSP version.

Anyway, all the others are in YouTube, save for the main theme. Limewire doesn't work.

It's not heavy rock music. It's the one that plays at the main menu.

  • Where can I find the unit sounds / response in StarCraft I?

And please don't tell me to go "Google SCSOUNDS.exe." Apparently, it's does not exist anymore.

If there is no other way, please tell me how to extract the unit sounds from StarCraft itself by using any other available software.

    Please and thanks.

I'm just interested in the Ghost and Science Vessel response sounds.

The Ghost's gas-masked-like voice sounds cool, and I find the Science Vessel's "Excellent" very funny.

  • Windows XP Problem, rule.exe?

I've been working on my father's laptop on a "Who Wants to be a Millionaire" Program, and initially, everything works fine. Then I plug my USB Drive into the laptop, and suddenly, things just go wrong.

My USB Drive's icon is a folder, instead of the usual drive icon.

Also, some program keeps popping up every now and then.

    C:\DOCUME~1\NAMEOFFOLDER~1\rule.exe

It looks like a windows console application, and if it works, the cursor (the blinking underscore in the console) starts moving around like crazy.

Other times, the application will open, but will not run; Saying a message "NTVDM CPU has encountered an illegal instruction."

I ran avast! Antivirus and Ad-Aware, and, although it did find some viruses, it removed them. But the rule.exe still exists. I tried deleting it, but it keeps coming back.

As of now, I do not want to perform a system restore, as some of my father's apps might not work properly.

Any ideas on how to solve this problem?
