Where is the substance in the campaign?
Both candidates have been talking a big game about jobs, economy, war, and effective governing. One doesn’t have to look hard to notice a severe lack of specifics on how they both would actually go about tackling these important issues. To be honest I think that the debate is going to be like watching the Shamwow guy verses Billy Mayes.
3 AnswersPolitics9 years agoHow can Rick Santorum avoid the Taliban comparison as he promotes religious based laws?
Rick Santorums continued promotion of social conservatism has been repeatedly quoted to be in favor of instituting religious based laws. The result could mean a political move to force everyone, believer or not, to adhere to a single religious ideology. The promotion of such a thing is counter to even the basic level of individual freedoms that should be granted not just in this country but globally. I’m confused with the conservative mantra of “less government” while most far right conservative leaders continually push for a reduction of the individuals ability to make their own choices. A government under the leadership of people like Rick Santorum will have a tough time trying to avoid being compared to similar governments such as, the Taliban
7 AnswersPolitics9 years agoWould repealing the congressional membership cap increase representation?
Would ridding the Apportionment Act of 1911, thereby removing the 435 member limit in the House of Representatives be better for our country?
Currently our representatives, represent an average of 300,000 people per congressional district. With the Constitution outlining a minimum number within a district at 30,000 wouldn’t our citizenry be better represented if districts were based on 150,000 district limmit?
6 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoIs my independent (no affiliation to any political party) viewpoint on border control radical?
I personally cant stand Pat Buchanan, but he did say something I wholeheartedly agree with. He once said his solution to the border controls with Mexico would begin with the federalization of National Guard units and ordering them on to the border with Mexico.
Not only to I agree with the small step, but I also think that the Federalized troops should also be ordered to place minefields, particularly in areas used by drug smugglers.
I’ve absolutely no issue with legal immigration how ever I do think our country should revisit the laws our country has and match laws used by some of our NATO allies who have far greater expectations set on immigrants.
16 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoIf Palin supports freedom of speech why then did she inquire on how to remove books from a public library?
Although she never specifically identified what books, Palin did ask on how to go about having books removed. The president of the Alaskan library association responded that under no condition would book ever be removed. A few weeks later the librarian was fired, only to be reinstated after a public outcry.
No one , not even shooting victim Rep. Gabrielle Gifford suggested that Palin be censored, Palin is playing the situation off as if her freedom of speech is being victimized.
There is very little room for her to shy away from the hypocritical position she’s placed herself in.
12 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoCan we expect reprisal attacks in the wake of the AZ shooting?
Granted the gunman is acknowledged as being mentally unstable but who is to say that there aren’t more out there planning copy cat style attacks.
There is also those members of the extreme who see this as an opportunity to be equally violent.
What are the chances that this may happen and would any of you be shocked if it did?
2 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoAre the comments “taking back America” enflaming people into violent action?
3 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoSara Palin said that North Korea was a US ally, why are we helping South Korea?
"'Obviously, we've got to stand with our North Korean allies,' she said on the radio show of fellow conservative icon Glenn Beck

would that describe the world we live in?

How pro American is Fox news if its run by a family of expatriated Australians and the ex president of Spain?
10 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoIf you believe global climate change is a farce, could you answer some questions?
While I’m on the fence as to the cause of our current climate issues, particularly after reading Michael Crichton’s essay on the topic I do believe that global climate change has and will continue to occur. Especially after reading studies written by climatologists, geologists, and historians that note specific periods on our global history that climate events have happened.
If you are non believer in global climate change could you give real scientific data that supports the debunking of the phenomena of climate change on a global scale? Specifically on topics such as the ice age ( from onset to its end) and from the “little” ice age and its proposed causes?
While I am a believer I’m open to changing my position if perhaps someone could please explain why and how. Simply making a claim that it doesn’t exists particularly without any substantial data does not promote a counter theory well. I'll need a bit more than “just because”.
15 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoWould RNC leader Michael Steele be offended by Dr. Lauras comments?
Would he (Michael Steele) support her first amendment rights even if it is inflammatory and offensive?
Does Dr Lauras first amendment rights allow her to ignore the rules outlined in her employers ( the owners of the radio station) codes of conduct within the work place?
Is her downfall attributed to her actions or is it due to some other group and why?
4 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoWith all drug violence crossing U.S./Mexico border shouldn’t we do more?
Just think about all the jobs that could be created if we built a real wall, with real protections against drug traffickers.
Thousands of jobs that would be created in such a project
construction jobs,
larger border patrol force
Technology and manufacturing ( all the electronic upkeep and increase the workforce to build needed tech based items)
Road building workers
Maintenance
I’m sure the list could be expanded.
I live on the east coast and this all makes sense to me.
How many victims living within the United States do we have to have before an effort of substance will be made on OUR side of the border?
We’ve waited patiently for the Mexican government to do more about these illegal crossings. How much longer does OUR government need before THEY see what we already know?
If our government cant seem to react to the increased victimization of the US citizenry by the Mexican drug trade would the creation of thousands of jobs attract their attention?
I’m an unaffiliated independent voter. I’ve no qualms about legal immigration.
4 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoWhat does it mean to be un-American?
I served 5 years in the Army and made one tour in the gulf. During that time I had a chance to get to know some of my buddies well enough to know their political views. It wasn’t hard, after being with them for years. Some were conservatives, some liberals and some independents like me.
We neither cared nor worried about what their personal political views were. What we did care about was watching out for each other and making sure we all got to go back home to our families. We were all proud of our service, proud of our country and proud of the support we received from our country.
Seven guys from my unit wont ever have to worry about being called un-American because they died over there. But it still hurts me to see people defame their names and their service when its done.
There are places as big as Arlington and as small as a local grave yard filled with people who served this country. They were conservatives, liberals, and independents. Even though they ALL died in the service our country, some people still feel the need to spit on the sacrifice they made, call them un-American. Simply because they didn’t follow a political viewpoint.
