does anyone know if my boyfriend would be able to call my cell? he's in basic training right now and he was supposed to get a call the first night, i know he might just be busy. but now i'm starting to hear that he might not even be able to reach me because cells don't accept collect calls. i also heard that he may be able to with a calling card or that he might not be able to call a cell phone for security reasons. does anyone know if he'll be able to call my cell?!

My boyfriend just left for the Army today and we're planning on staying together. I know it's going to be hard as expected and I'm supporting him, but I'm having an extremely hard time accepting that we're going to be apart. We have been together for 2 and a half years and we spend most of that time together. After boot camp he will be able to come home often- his mom is a flight attendant (weekends and vacation), and phone calls so that won't be as difficult. The problem is getting through these first 9 weeks (11 weeks with reception) considering he won't be able to call or leave, only letters which i know is better than nothing. Everyone is telling me to stay strong, think positive and keep myself busy. but today is the first day he's gone and it's not so easy to get out there and be happy, also these people don't have a military boyfriend so i'm just wondering if anyone in a similar position has any advice to help me through.

me and my boyfriend have been together for 2 years but hes a year older so im still in hs and hes decided to enlist in the marines and im just wondering whats to come? ive heard once they return they're never the same person, what kind of changes expected? i know he has boot camp and he will be stationed at a base but i just want more info of what to expect. do couples tend to make it through?

and how much time will he have off? weekends/nights?
