The guy I'm dating's friend died? What should I do?
I've been seeing this guy for a couple weeks, we haven't made it "official" but we have gotten pretty close. last night one of his good friends passed away in a motorcycle accident. He called me really upset about it this morning, just wanting to talk about it, before we both had to go to work. I've never really had anyone close to me pass away but I know nothing I say can make it better, so what should I do to help? Any things I should definitely NOT do or say?
I'm 22 and he is 25, and his friend was 24, if that makes any difference.
3 AnswersSingles & Dating7 years agoHELP! Is this rental discrimination?
I am an 18 year old female, and I'm not sure if what my landlord is doing is legal.
I rent a room, in Vermont. The landlord lives downstairs. The upstairs "apartment" has a separate kitchen, bathroom, living area and 2 bedrooms. I rent one bedroom, and a man, a few years older than myself, rents the other bedroom. We share common living space. My problem is, my landlord has different rules for each of us. My male housemate is allowed female company (his girlfriend) to come over, not just for the day, but to spend several nights here. I, however, am not allowed male company, at any time. When I asked why my landlord has this rule, she said it was because she doesn't feel comfortable having "strange men" in the house. This seems peculiar to me, seeings how she did not know the man she rented to before he moved here (he is from out of state). And I was informed today, by my housemate, that his brother would be spending the night tomorrow. My landlord does not know this man, either. I think this seems completely out of line, How can my landlord give different privileges to her renters based on gender? Is this legal? If not, how can I go about correcting this situation? I can't just move out, even though I am not in a lease, because I have low income and I can afford the rent here. I have never been a day late on paying rent, either, if that helps. Please Help Me!
