How can I deal with my longtime friend overstaying her welcome & overstepping boundaries?
The story: I recently have been dealing w/ this- a friend for 20 years. She recently started coming over & bringing the new bf (flavor of the day). 1st night they get wasted & stay most of the night (until 5:30ish am) & they left belongings at my house so I knew they'd be back :(
A day later (@ 9pm) they call asking if they could come over I told them that my bf & I had to go to work the next morning. They asked if they could just swing by & grab their things, I said of course. When they arrive later, they ask if they can stay the night promising they will be quiet & stay in my spare room, they will leave before we have to, etc. My bf needed to be at work by 8:30am & I not til 3pm but I lied & told them I had to be @ work by 10am & I needed to leave by 9am.
None of that happened. I heard them all night, didn't get any sleep. And they didn't leave until 9:36am, if I hadn't of been lying I would've been late. And they didn't seem to care 1 bit.
Each time they came over they brought more stuff w/ them, they ride a motorcycle and carry clothes & stuff with them. I checked the house making sure they didn't leave anything behind & didn't find anything. I got a text from her later that day asking if her bf's wallet was in the bed of my truck. Sure enough they stashed some of their crap in the bed of my truck!!!
I have seen them more than I care to in a 4 day period. And I don't know how to really tell them.
I am done w/ my party days & enjoy having my house to myself w/ my bf.
2 AnswersFriends7 years agoChevy w/ new starter/solenoid & battery- still won't start.?
1996 Chevy Silverado K1500 5.7L
I just installed a new battery and a new starter/solenoid and it still is not starting. All it does is a single click which sounds like it is coming from around the engine block somewhere.
Have checked the starter/solenoid wires, battery cables and all is nice and tight. Have checked fuses as well.
What could the problem be?
6 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs9 years agoSafest/best way to pay for a car when you can't pay in person?
When you can't be there to pay for a car in person, what is the safest way to pay for it?
Example: Living on the East coast but interested in a car on the West coast, don't have the time to go there to pay in person. And car will be shipped via auto transporter.
I am looking for the safest way to pay, one that will protect me in case the owner decides to be deceitful. Where I won't lose my money.
4 AnswersBuying & Selling1 decade agoWill my laptop play these games...?
I have a Dell Inspiron 1520 laptop with the following specs:
- XP home edition OS
- Intel Core 2 Duo/ 1.5GHz
- 2GB Ram
- 250GB hard drive
- NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS graphics card (32 bit)
Of course, I have a DVD/CD slot.
I am wanting to get/play the following games:
- Spore
- Black and White 2
- all Sims
I have looked online but it doesn't really tell me for sure if my system will run these games good.
I don't want skipping, freezing, etc.
For example: Spore system requirements say 1.6GHz and Black and White 2 requirements say 1.6 GHz also.
But since the Core 2 Duo is a newer processor will it still handle these games even though it's 1.5 GHz?
Please list which of these games will play good on my system.
And which ones will not play good or at all.
And what would need changing on my system for it to work.
P.S.
I am NOT computer savvy so please use laymens terms.
2 AnswersVideo & Online Games1 decade agoOLDER Diesel 1 ton truck : Ford or Dodge?
I am looking into buying a 1 ton diesel truck. It will be an older truck - early 1990's to late 1990's model. I am mainly looking at Ford F350 or Dodge 3500.
If you have experience with either: which is it? year and model? what do you like and dislike about it?
Anything to look out for on them?
Good or bad pulling power? On level ground and up/down hills?
4 AnswersBuying & Selling1 decade agoWhere can I find Native American equine body painting?
I am trying to find a detailed website with pictures of Native American equine body paint. All the different tribes paintings with their meanings and with pictures. This is for the paintings they did on their horses before hunts, raids, etc.
I have tried to google it with no good results. I am probably typing in the wrong thing in the search.
Does anyone know of a good website? Or maybe even a book?

But are there any other VW sites that I am missing that I could post it on.
2 AnswersVolkswagen1 decade agoWhat to do when a horse always gets excited in crowded environments?
OK, I have this friend who just got her horse and she has taken it to the local rodeo's and he gets REALLY excited. I've never had this problem, so I am not sure how to tell her to get a handle on it.
She went to this local rodeo, horse seemed fine. But she was going one direction and a couple of guys rode by going the other way and my friends horse spun around on her taking off the same direction as those other horses. So the next time it happened, she knew to expect a spin. Well she was able to stop the spin but the horse started shaking his head side to side (he already had a tie down on) and started to canter in the only direction my friend allowed him to go. He tried to buck some...but eventually he settled down.
Later she was riding along (at the rodeo) and again some people rode by going the other direction, well he (the horse) already had my friend figured out by then and he started backing up as fast as he could.....which he ended up running over the hood of a car :(
He always gets very excited in crowded/other horsey environments. He has pasture friends that are horses and as a matter of fact 2 of his personal horsey friends where there (at his side) that day at the rodeo....but he didn't care about them at all.
And another occasion - this same horse and friend went riding with another one of his pasture-horsey-friends and a cousin of my friends (which he was green to horses).....they where riding down the rode. The pasture-horsey-friend spooked over something in the woods and the cousin (that is green to horses) didn't really know what to do....pretty much just let the horse do whatever, which ended up running sideways into my friend and her horse (same horse as above) which made her horse freak out, he reared up and fell sideways onto the pavement. The horse was up and running before my friend knew it. Luckily my friend got knocked far enough out to not get squished by the horse. But she did receive some major whip-lash and nasty road rash to boot.
I am not for sure what caused the first instance.
But this 2nd story I believe wouldn't have happened if it hadn't been for the green rider.
So why would he be getting this excited over these things? And how could you calm a horse like this down for these environments?
This horse has EXCELLENT ground manners. He does everything asked of him. He usually doesn't get excited over just general riding...only the environments where there are horses there unknown to him.
3 AnswersHorses1 decade agoHaflinger -how to stop the head tugging? Placement of feet ?
I bought a good sized (1500lbs) Haflinger gelding. His previous owner used him for driving...I want to trail ride. But he has a habit of tugging at the reins constantly, eventually pulling the reins out of your hands. I always give him slack but it doesn't matter, he still tugs. Even on a lead rope, he tugs. He will wear you out doing this. I believe that this is just something a driving horse is trained to do. But I don't want him to do this out on the trails during riding. I used a tie down but it doesn't stop him. Was thinking of using a stud chain but would like to find out if there is a better way.
I even tied him out for awhile, thinking he would eventually quit but he didn't and when I got back out there he had the ropes slipknot so tight I barely got it untied.
So is there anyway to stop the head tugging?
Also since he was used for driving pretty much all his life (10 years old now) and just used to plodding along .....what is a good way to get him to pay attention to where he places his feet?
3 AnswersHorses1 decade agoMini Stallion and Haflinger gelding won't give up?
I recently put my mini stallion and his mare in with my Haflinger gelding. They are doing OK... but my mini stallion is keeping his mare away from the Haflinger. He won't let the Haflinger near her. All the Haflinger wants is to be friends and I know my stallion is just afraid of loosing his mare. How can I get them all to just get along or is this just something that time will only tell?
P.S. they ARE NOT hurting each other so don't even mention that!
If you have nothing positive or helpful to say...then don't say nothing!!!
2 AnswersOther - Pets1 decade agoJust bought a Haflinger horse and believe I will need to get another saddle.QH bar question?
My current saddle has semi QH bars. I've already had to get a bigger (42") girth and 6.5" bit. He is built like a big barrel...imagine trying to saddle up a small draft size barrel, nothing for the saddle to really grab on to. He is only a 14.3hh horse but big around...definitely maxed out my weight estimator tape (which the highest on it is 1371lbs. and there was still about 2-3 more feet left to be measured) so if the tape is anywhere close to being right in the first place, then he is probably about 1500-1800lbs.
I figure I will need to go to a full QH bar or maybe even to the special draft or Haflinger saddles. I hope not. This current saddle I have (with the semi QH bar) is one I had bought for my previous Quarter Horse and he was 15.3hh and about 1200lbs. He was pretty stocky for his size.
My question is...how could I measure him to find out?
I have already found the downloadable templates, but they are not working I think it's my printer.
