  • Saltwater Coral Question?

O.K. So i've had a reef tank for a year now, and i have lots of experience with corals, and all of mine are doing great. I have lots of soft corals and a few stonies. I already have Goniastrea, Pagoda Cup, and Scroll Coral and they're doing fine under my T-5 HO and my calcium is right about at 420ppm. I was wondering if my setup is good enough for some SPS. I want to buy some Montipora and Stylophora and such... Is my light good enough to house these species? I regularily dose calcium, iodine, strontium, and magnesium. Is my steup good enough for SPS? If so, then which ones?

  • Saltwater Algae Problem?

I have terrible Green Hair Algae in my 55gal tank. It's growing on the powerheads, filter, glass, sand, etc... I bought about 20 snails, 2 emerald crabs. 20 blue-leg hermits, pencil urchin, and tuxedo urchin. The algae is not going away. I do water changes almost every week, and i keep my HO T5 on for about 8 hours a day. The algae keeps coming back. Should i buy a protein skimmer or a UV sterilizer, or what? I though about using "Phos-Buster" too. Would any of this help? Thanks for any help at all!

  • Saltwater/Coral Help!?

O.K. so i bought some damaged corals for a very cheap price. Before i put them in my tank i dipped them in a "coral disinfectant" and then proceeded to place them inside. They have been doing well, so far. I was wondering if there is any product or way to help speed up the recovery process. BTW: I bought a Pagoda Cup, and Alveopora. I do regularily dose the tank with Iodine, Magnesium, and Strontium. Is there anything else i should do? Thanks any help is appreciated!

  • Saltwater Ick Problem!!!!?

I have a 55gal saltwater tank with lots of rockwork, corals, fish, and inverts. Now my tank has been running for over 6 months and i've already delt with the ick before, but back then i didn't have too much stuff in my tank and i just used a copper based medicine to treat the entire tank. Now the problem is my Black Percula Clown has white spots on his fin and he is scratching on the rocks. I tried to catch him and move him to my quarantine tank to treat him with copper medication, but there is just too much stuff in the tank for me to catch him. I decided to add a cleaner shrimp and he has cleaned my Yellow Tank and Spotted Hawkfish, but he hasn't touched my orange clown or my black clown. I was wondering what i should try next to help fix the problem without having to move him out of my tank or damaging my other corals or inverts. Should i get another cleaner shrimp? Any suggestions will be helpful!

  • Expert Saltwater Question!?

O.K. i bought a decent rock of yellow Alveopora for a really cheap price and then i noticed that it wasn't doing too well in my tank. I had it in my tank for almost 2 weeks. When i bought it, i saw that it was recovering from some sort of disease or maybe too much radiation.(It was in a 125gal with 2 metal halides) Now since i bought it it is near the top of the tank of a 55gal with high-output T-5's. I was wondering if there is some sort of product to help speed up the recovery process or help the polyps come out all the way. I already use Iodine, Strontium, Magnesium, and Phytoplankton regulary. The polyps have been coming out, but look terrible. The other corals are doing great and i've had them for several months. Any help, advice, or suggestions would be really appreciated.

(I also got a damaged Pagoda Cup the same day but it's doing really great and feeding at night!)

  • Coral Lighting Question?!?

O.K. i have a new T-5 HO (high output) light set over my 55gal tank. I have several soft corals and they've been doing great in my tank and i was wondering if the light set is powerful enough for me to keep hard stony corals both big polyp and/or small polyp. Could i keep like Acropora, Goniopora, Clams, etc... or is there not enough light. I already use trace elements supplements such as iodine, magnesium, and strontium. Is there enough light or should i try to put the inverts closer to the top of my tank or what? Any advice or info is greatly appreciated!

  • Clownfish Question! Please Help!?

I recently bought this black clownfish and the owner's said it was supposed to be a "black percula clownfish" but instead of all the fins and everything being black&white ; the whole body is black and white, but the left and right fin are bright yellow, at the same time the mouth area also has a hint of yellow. The fish has a body shape kind of like a Maroon clownfish. Here's a picture of a regular black percula clownfish and my is almost the same except the fins mentioned above are yellow:

  • How to remove crankshaft pulley bolt?

I have a 1992 Toyota Corolla and i'm trying to change the timing belt. I don't know which way the bolt is threaded; so i don't know which way to turn the wrench. I can't afford a mechanic and i've had several people try to help me remove it, but with no luck. I have a manual for the car and it doesn't clearly describe how to remove it. Any websites, books, or personal advice would be very greatly appreciated.

  • Help fish is sick!!!?

O.K. i bought a Kole Tang on friday and he hasn't eaten all weekend and not even to wednesday have i seen him eat anything. I tried feeding him: brine shrimp, mysid shrimp, seaweed sheets, and algae wafers. He wouldn't eat anything!

Secondly, a couple of days ago his entire body was covered in white spots (looks like he was rolled in sugar). I moved him to a quarantine tank and treated him with Quickcure twice. Now he started laying on his side on Monday and breathing rapidly. Today he has lost most of the white spots except on his tail fin, but he is still not eating and is still breathing very rapidly and leaning around on rocks/ glass. He's been doing that for 2 days now and he's not getting better. Please help with any advice!!!
