  • Irregular period on cerazette?

I started taking cerazette about 6 weeks ago, I'm not actually using it for contraception but because I've been having painful periods. Anyway, I asked my doctor if there was anything that could stop my periods completely (so I wouldn't have the pain) and he prescribed cerazette, saying it would stop them. However after about 3 weeks I had a period that last about 2 days longer than usual, and I'm now on another one only 2 weeks later...is this just my body getting used to it (in which case the doctor still should've explained) or is there something wrong?

  • Were mobile phones used regularly in the mid 90s?

I need to know this for something I'm writing that's set in 1995. It may be a stupid question but I was born in 1993 so I'm not really sure. As I can remember my mum's first mobile, I don't know if she was just late to catch on or what. In 1995 were they still a relatively new thing that many people didn't bother with, or did most people use them? I'm thinking of Britain if the country matters. Thanks :)

  • Why do Americans think the British have bad teeth?

I'm aware of a few stereotypes about us British, some of which are based in truth (even if they are exaggerated a bit). However the one I don't understand is that the British have bad teeth? I've heard it joked about and stuff and even if the people saying it aren't serious, it's clearly been brought about somehow and I was just wondering how?? Obviously some British people have bad teeth, but there are bad teeth in every country. I've lived in England all my life and I can honestly say that 99.9% of people I have met have perfectly good teeth. So where does this come from?

  • My foot has swollen up?

I just got up and noticed my foot was feeling a bit weird, and when I looked I saw it's swollen. It isn't massive (if you'd never seen my feet before you probably can't tell the difference) but it's definitely swollen a bit. Obviously I could go to the doctor but since I'm already in a lot of pain over something else, I don't want to go out unnecessarily. I have put ice on it but is there anything else I can do, and any reasons it might have swollen? It doesn't hurt at all by the way.

  • Top ear piercing bleeding?

I had a top ear piercing done in April and so far it's been perfectly fine. However I took it out just over a week ago (after the allotted time I was told to keep it in, so this shouldn't be the problem) and put in a new earring. Since then it's been itching occasionally, and I just took it out now and there's a little bit of blood. I'm wondering if it's the earring- I've bought earrings from the same shop before that have been fine, but that was for lobe piercings. Should I go back to the piercing place or just clean it and hope for the best?

  • How can I improve my relationship with my mum?

Basically, my mum and I really, really dislike eachother. I love her of course because she's my mother, but as a person I can't stand the woman, and I know she hates me.

I don't know what to do; our relationship has gotten gradually worse since I was about eleven, and in the past year or so it's been awful. I would leave the house but I have literally nowhere else to go.

I'm going to uni in October, and although it's only 4 months away I actually can't take it anymore and I don't think she can either. I don't want to improve our relationship because I "want to be friends with her" or anything- I've really grown used to the fact that we don't get along.

The reason I want us to get along better is because it's really affecting me emotionally. She doesn't hit me or neglect me or anything so it might sound like I'm just whining. But she criticises me, she insults me, she laughs at me (when we argue and she can't think of anything else to say she just laughs and says I'm pathetic), and she doesn't care about me. When I told her I wanted to kill myself (partly because I have a long term undiagnosed illness that really affects me and makes my life miserable, partly because I was depressed) she told me that was "Stupid" and I needed to "get over myself". This may be a fault on my part as her sister died the year before so it was a little insensitive of me, but is that the way to respond when your only child is on the brink of suicide? :/ I had actually attempted suicide a few months before but I used some very mild pills and nothing happened.

I have tried talking to her in the times we're not arguing, but it's useless because it's just me saying "You do this and it upsets me" and her saying "Well you do this and it angers me" and then we start shouting.

I am not blameless at all: I'm often quite rude and disrespectful to her. But I'm not actually a rude person, I just find it hard to be nice and polite to someone who is making me hate my life so much.

I think it's affecting my relationships with my friends too. I don't really talk about it because I don't want to whine (nobody likes a miserable person, my mum has said) but sometimes I feel really frustrated and I'm either moody with them or angry at everything and soon enough they'll get fed up with me.

I don't know if I'm expecting an answer to this, I just wanted to talk to someone and get someone else's opinion. But I need some sort of help because I'm at a stage where I just sit and cry because I don't know what else to do.

(Just realised I haven't mentioned; I haven't seen my dad since I was ten months old so no, he can't help, and I'm an only child). Sorry this is so long.

  • How to stop my legs bleeding?!?

Okay I just cut my legs shaving (annoying as I've never done this before, but whatever) and for some reason they just won't stop bleeding. I have one cut on each leg and every time I take the tissue away it just starts up again and runs down my leg like two inches before it stops. It doesn't hurt but there's only so long I can press tissues to both legs, and we have no plasters :/ what shall I do?

  • Americans: Do police actually shut down house parties?

Alright, this may sound like a stupid question. But I've watched a lot of American shows and films, and I've noticed it isn't uncommon for police to come in and be like "Alright, party's over, get out" and I was wondering if this actually happens in real life? If so, why? In Britain, the police would probably shut a party down if something really bad happened and it was reported, but the idea of them just walking in and telling everyone to get out of someone's house is completely ridiculous: if no trouble has been caused, how the hell can they walk into your house and tell you what to do? I did vaguely wonder if it was because of underage drinking, but still, police wouldn't bother to go into house parties in case there were fifteen year olds getting drunk or something, it seems mental.

So does this happen, or is it fabricated by TV?

  • Why is my little finger shaking?

My little finger on my left hand has been shaking uncontrollably, non-stop (apart from like 2 seconds) for about ten minutes. It feels a bit weak as well, but it doesn't hurt or anything. It's really shaking a lot, (I couldn't purposely make my finger shake like this as it's too fast). Any ideas?

  • Would you want to know the truth? (The Matrix)?

I'm asking this for help with a school project.

Assuming you've seen the Matrix- if you were in Neo's position, would you rather take blue pill and remain blissfully ignorant, or take the red pill and discover the possibly harsh reality?

    Thank you :)

  • Bite-like bumps on arms and legs.?

I'd been lying in bed for about an hour and I could feel a small itchy bump on my ankle which I assumed was an insect bite. But when I got out, they were all over my legs, from my feet up to my thigh, and there are some on my arms as well. They're all kind of red and look like insect bites. I thought it might be some sort of allergic reaction, but I'm pretty sure I haven't eaten or used anything unusual, and it isn't chicken pox because I've already had them :/

  • Could I be depressed?

I think I may be depressed, or have some other kind of mental health problem. I used to find that I only felt down when I was on my own, but now I feel like this most of the time, even when I'm with people. I find myself feeling irrationally annoyed at my friends when they get something they want, or when they're really happy, even if they deserve it, and I feel jealous because I don't feel like that. I also sometimes start crying for no apparent reason (although this hasn't happened for about a month now). I also get angry really easily at nothing- for example, the other day I was trying to turn my iPod on and it wasn't working, so I threw it across the room, and I felt absolutely furious.

I don't want to talk to my friends because they'd either think I was being overly dramatic or worry about me, neither of which I want. I tried talking to my mum once; she said she'd take me to a doctor, and then she forgot, and whenever we talk we just argue anyway, so there's no point.

    What's wrong with me? :/

  • What's wrong with me?!?

I have pains in my pelvic area- they're usually moderate but can also be really severe. It's really affecting my life. I almost always have to sit in certain positions, or lie in a certain way when I'm in bed, I have to walk really slowly which is annoying when I'm with friends because they just think I'm being slow for no reason. I've missed quite a bit of school lately which isn't good because I'm going to uni next year and I need good grades. The pain is also worse when I have my period.

The doctor said she thinks it's IBS, but I've been looking it up and I'm not really sure, because I don't have constipation or diarrhoea and as far as I can tell, it isn't made worse by any particular foods (plus I'm sure IBS is more in the stomach area). One doctor thought it might be a urine infection (I've been weeing a crazy amount as well) but the antibiotics she gave me didn't get rid of the problem. The pain is also worse when I really need to go to the toilet.

    Can anyone help?

  • How to get a councillor?

How do I go about getting a councillor/therapist etc? Do you have to go to the doctors and ask to be referred? Also I'm 17, will I be able to do it without telling my mum?

I live in England by the way, if it helps.

  • How long does a film premiere take?

Me and my friend want to go to the (UK) Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows in November. We need to book trains etc, but we're not sure when it will start or end. Does anyone know, maybe someone who's been before?

    Thanks :)
