  • Need input from parents of teenagers?

If your child was not completing school assignments, would you consider revoking all privileges until all assignments are in and grades come back up? Or, do you consider this to be harsh?

  • Parents, need some input. If your child was not completing schoolwork, would you revoke all privileges?

My daughter is not completing her schoolwork. She's taking a casual attitude about it. Her dad and I have differing perspectives. I want to revoke all privileges until her grades come up. Her dad says it's not a fair consequence. Am I being harsh? Or, is this a good way to teach a life lesson . .. if you don't work, you don't play.

  • How can we get food-aid to starving people in Haiti?

In a country where most people live on less than $2 per day, with an unemployment rate in excess of 70%, in a good year, 1 in 5 babies born in Haiti die. Recently, because of the economic instability in our area of the world, food prices in Haiti have more than doubled. There are riots in the streets as I write this because people just don't have money to buy food.

What can we do to help? There are international organizations that help starving people in Africa. What can I do to bring attention to the fact that hungry, dying people need food aid? Who can I contact? If you have ANY information to help me help these people, please, please, share with me.

  • Will the snow melt from the big storm that just hit CA impact the levees?

The Weather Channel's It Could Happen Tomorrow had a program that showed the danger to the levees that protect the fertile areas of northern CA. After reading about the levee break in the Reno, NV area, I'm wondering if the snowmelt from the storm that is dropping record snowfall now (1-5-08) has the potential to stress those levees as well.

  • Why would my HP all in one printer print cue need to receive the 1st document of the day twice?

Recently, my HP all in one started acting funny. In order to print, the first document of the day has to be sent to print cue twice. The message in print cue shows that document as printing all day long. Once the computer is shut down for the day and restarted, the first document sent to print cue has to be sent twice. How can I solve this problem?

  • How can we persuade our state governments to investigate the effectiveness of school spending?

WA state spends approximately $10,500 per pupil per year on K-12 education, yet we have 4.0 GPA students entering college needing to take remedial math classes. We've had 7 or 8 major commissions investigating education and they all come to the same conclusion: change is necessary. Our governor, Christine Gregoire, has said for the sake of its children and economy, the state must turn out better-prepared students. Yet, the state stops short of investigating the effectiveness of the dollars already being spent.

How can we persuade our leaders that knowing which dollars are the most effectively spent is the starting point for turning out better prepared students?

  • I've heard that the powder in a rattlesnake tail is poisonous. Any ideas on the veracity of this statement?

I've tried an internet search to find this out, but cannot find any information on this, so a snake expert would probably have the answer.
