I have made a decision to be her strength through this journey. She is hurting, and very scared right now. What are the best things I can do for her, with her, talk with her about, etc? I want to be the best friend I can be for her. I would love to hear from others who have been a big part of the support network for a friend experiencing a major illness.

My husband was best man in a wedding yesterday. I attended the wedding and reception in a classic "little black dress". During the reception, the bride approached me and asked me why I wore black ( a funeral color) to her wedding. I told her that black isn't only for funerals, and that I don't have many "wedding clothes" in my closet. Keeping in mind that my husband spent $100 on his tux, and that we gave them a nice cash gift with a card. I couldn't help but feel that I chose to wear something that the bride saw as inappropriate to her wedding. (The groom is mid 50's, and the bride close to 50.) I'm wondering if I responded appropriately, or if I should have said something different? I can't imagine saying something to a guest that would make them feel the way I did. Years ago, a comment like this would have prompted me to leave immediately - but at my age (51) it just irritated me.

I've had grilled asparagus in restaurants, and it's great. I've never tried to grill it at home. Please include all ingredients, and what spices are best.

I keep having dreams where I am walking and come to a place where I need to jump across an opening. Every dream is a little different, but I'm always afraid to jump across to the other side. Sometimes there is another person with me that makes it look so easy, but I'm still apprehensive about making the jump. Every dream ends with me still on the same side I started on.

I have had several of these type dreams in the last 6 months or so.

I have become a very open minded, generally happy person. I think I am a good friend, mother, and wife. I'd like to hear from others who are content with the person they have become, and why.

My grandson is 8 months old (only 6 months gestational), born 9 weeks early. He isn't able to sit up by himself yet. Should we be concerned?

My husband had emergency surgery last Monday. He will be dishcharged tomorrow morning (Friday). Being alone in our farm house has made me realize all of those things I have taken for granted. I have had to shovel snow, burn trash, bring in wood to burn, etc. I always realized he did these things, but I don't think I appreciated it as much as I should have. He makes my life so much easier on a daily basis, and now I know how hard he works to accomplish this.

What would be the best way for me to let him know how much I appreciate everything he does for me, besides just telling him?

Last night the mother of my grandson made a huge error in judgement, and left her two boys home alone. Some things happened, and the police were called. Now they have reported her to Child Protective Services for an investigation. I just want to know if anyone has had a similar situation, and what to expect.

My son left town to visit his brother at college last Friday. Monday his best friend passed away - possibly from a drug over-dose, by mistake. My son feels responsible for his death, because he wasn't here to look out for his friend. How can I possibly help him through this? He is completely broken up over loosing his friend this way.

It's something I NEVER EVER did! Not even for a "few minutes". My kids didn't even sit in a locked car when I ran in to pay for gas. I may have been "over the top" with this. How do others feel about this topic?

We always hear about women and men who finally leave abusive relationships. How can I help someone that is physically abusive to his girlfriend. Please only helpful answers - this is a family member. Can anyone that's been in this situation give me some advice?

My grandson was born 9 weeks early, and only weighed

3# 10 oz. He is a healthy 5 months old now, but he seems to sleep with his eyes open quite often. Just curious if this is common with preemies?

With your career, or life in general.

My son's girlfriend has said she "hates" this baby. He was a preemie, and spent the first weeks of his life in the NICU about an hours drive away. He is an excellent baby, such a bundle of joy. I bonded with both of my boys instantly, so I'm having a hard time understanding this. Can anyone shed some light on this for me? (He is 4 months old now.)

She smokes frequently. She really needs this good job, and they do a hair sample instead of urine test. Any help will be appreciated!

They have a child together, and as an adult I can see how much they love each other. They are young, and both a little selfish.....I try to stay out of things. I have told her no matter what I will lover her and the boys - it changes nothing for me if they choose not to stay together.

My question is: Do I talk to my son and try to get him to see all of her really fine points? She has many. She is good to him for the most part, and she is an excellent mother from everything I can see. Do I stay completely out of it and let him find his own way? I'd hate to see him loose her and daily life with his son.

My granson left a crayon in the car, on the seat and on the floor of the car. Any good ideas about how to remove it without causing damage?

Being a mother and a grandmother has made my life so full and happy!
