I just watched a share price fall from a level above my bid to below my bid without even a partial fill. The explanation my broker (very unreliable ... long story) gave me was that the sale (below my bid) was made to a market maker and even if I outbid the market maker, the market maker still gets the shares. This sounds very odd to me. Can someone point me in the direction of an explanation? FYI, this is a pink sheet stock. I understand I am subject to liquidity risk, but when trades have been executed both above and below my bid without even a partial fill, this seems strange to me.

Let's say I take a short position in a company and it totally dies.

I don't just mean Chapter 11, I mean that book value goes below zero and the company literally has negative worth and the shares are therefore worth $0.00.

Would I be able to cover my short at $0.00?

(Is it even necessary to cover my short at this stage?)

Someone actually has to sell me the shares for me to cover, right?

So who would sell me the shares for $0.00 (and why)?

Two related questions:

1) If I take a short position on a company and it files for Chapter 11, do the shares delist or stop trading? Will I be able to cover my short?

2) If the shares do actually become worthless, how do I cover my short? Is it possible to buy them for $0.00? Who would sell them to me for $0.00 (and why)?

This looks like fascinating technology.

I'd like to know as far as possible in advance what games LAD catcher Russell Martin is scheduled to sit out so I can take him out of my lineup on that day and use another catcher.

I asked this question before and got a very good answer from Jim, who told me to check the schedule and lineup on the team's HP right before the game.

Problem is, I must be stupid because I can't find the schedule with the lineup on the LAD webpage.

Am I looking in the wrong spot?
