Does anyone else have an unusually large baby?
My little boy is 15 weeks and is HUGE. He has gradually increased from 75th centile to over 99th (length) remaining at 91st for weight and doesn't seem to show any signs of slowing down. He is really close to outgrowing his 3-6 month clothes. He is bigger than all the babies at the mother and baby groups.
I guess the reason why I am asking is that both my partner and I have had weight problems and I don't want my little boy to have the same problems. I am not stupid enough to restrict his diet or anything but wonder if and when weight and size become an issue medically and whether anyone else has experienced this with their children.
I also feel slightly sorry for him as people think he is much older than he really is so he is often overlooked for cuddles and attention in favour of the more 'petite' average sized babies. Luckily he has a smile that melts hearts to make up for it but it just seems unfair somehow!
I would be glad to hear from anyone with similar situations.
Thanks
13 AnswersNewborn & Baby1 decade agoAny help getting newborn to sleep?
My 5 day old baby has not slept more than 1/2 hour since 6am and the only way that has happened has been by feeding. Every time I put him down, he wakes. We have walked him but he will wake up 5 minutes later. I would welcome any tips as we are both exhausted.
16 AnswersNewborn & Baby1 decade agoWaters have broken!!! Do I wake my partner at 2am?
I think my waters have broken - a series of small gushes and a lot of liquid. Should I do the lying down test first or should I wake my partner? If its not my waters, he has to work tomorrow...
76 AnswersPregnancy1 decade ago40 weeks and am getting a cold. Will the baby get it too?
I am at least 40 weeks pregnant (long story) and have the beginnings of a cold (sore throat, runny nose etc.). If I give birth with a cold will my baby be born with a cold too? Has anyone had this happen to them
? I can't believe my luck - I have not been ill once during my entire pregnancy so I can't believe it is happening now!
1 AnswerPregnancy1 decade agoCan the baby's head become unengaged again?
I posted this earlier but only got one answer. I would appreciate some more feedback if possible. I am 40 weeks + 3 pregnant. At my last appointment the midwife confirmed that the babies head was engaged. I kinda knew this as I could feel the head in my pelvis. I was also peeing every 1/2 hour all day and night. Over the last couple of days it feels as though the head has come back out again. Can this happen and has anyone had this happen with their baby? Also the baby seems to be lying in a different position after a really major movement in which I clearly saw feet moving around my tummy. Any feedback would be welcome. I have an appointment with my midwife tomorrow morning but I am beginning to worry about this.

1 AnswerPregnancy1 decade agoAnyone got a healthy recipe for salmon fillets?
I usually do them with a spicy crust but I am really bored with this. Both my partner and I could do with a lower-fat recipe due to excess calorie consumption recently!
Many thanks for your suggestions!
6 AnswersCooking & Recipes1 decade agoTransferable French/English boys names?
OK I am getting a little desperate now - my son was due yesterday and my partner and I cannot decide on a name for him. Since my partner is french and I am English, we would like a name which works in both languages without major variations in pronunciation. We also prefer traditional names. We also don't want anything which is too obvious (Jean, Andre, Claude etc).
Any ideas would be very welcome!
18 AnswersBaby Names1 decade agoCan anyone say anything to make me feel better?
I am due tomorrow (ish) and am totally fed up with being pregnant. I have stretch marks, PUPPP, dry skin, varicose veins and I can't even fit my socks on because my feet are so swollen. My thighs are chaffing and are now red raw. I have always wanted this baby but feel so rotten about how I look right now and the baby doesn't seem any closer to coming than he did two weeks ago. I know that it is close to the end one way or another but I am sure my stomach will never recover (I haven't met anyone with a bump as big as mine). I know the baby will be fantastic but I can't help feeling totally fed up.
Has anyone else felt this way and how did you cope with it? I am also worried that if I am this fed up now, I am going to have serious baby blues after having the baby.
Please can anyone cheer me up?
10 AnswersPregnancy1 decade agoDoes she mean fully engaged?
I saw my midwife today who said that my baby's head is engaged. I should have asked her to clarify how much but then the conversation moved on and I forgot to ask.
Does engaged mean at 0 station or heading in the right direction?
1 AnswerPregnancy1 decade agoDo you think I am pregnant?!!!!
I had a positive test in January, no period since and a positive ultrasound in both march and may. I have a large protruding belly and I feel like there is something moving inside it...
My boobs are the size of watermelons and occasionally leak. The doctor said I am pregnant. What do you think?!!!!
Funny response will get the points!
9 AnswersPregnancy1 decade agoHas anyone successfully moved from breastfeeding to cup at 4 months?
I am due to have my baby in September and went to a breastfeeding class this afternoon. At the meeting, the midwife suggested moving the baby to a cup rather than bottles when I return to work. I have never heard of this before and would be really pleased to hear opinions on this or personal experience. I assumed that a bottle would be an easier transition... What do you think?
Thanks for all your responses.
15 AnswersNewborn & Baby1 decade ago31 weeks - can you decipher my notes?
When it comes to my notes I have managed to decipher most of the notes and what they mean but today my midwife put in information about the position.
In one bax she has written 'ceph' which I understand means head down but she also has written in the box next to it 'NF'. I can't find any details about what this means. Does anyone have any ideas what it could mean?
Thanks
1 AnswerPregnancy1 decade agoCan I ask two questions about the Mazda 3 TS2?
Firstly, has anyone had a problem with the Mazda 3 TS2? Do you own it and like it? Would you recommend it?
Secondly, we are curious about a button which has the letters AMB in the centre console? What is it for? It has confused both us and the salesman.
1 AnswerMazda1 decade agoCan anyone cheer me up about my stretch marks?
I have diligently been using cocoa butter on my bump to avoid stretch marks but it didn't work and they have appeared all over the bottom of my bump.
I know that I am going to have a beautiful baby at the end of it all but I feel really fed up about it. How many of you guys have them and when did they appear in your pregnancy? How are you feeling about them?
11 AnswersPregnancy1 decade agoWhat should I expect at my 28 week appointment (UK)?
I am going for my 28 week appointment tomorrow. Will the midwife check my cervix or do an internal at this appointment or will that be later in the pregnancy?
I know that they check much less in the UK than in the US so experiences from the UK would be great, thanks.

5 AnswersPregnancy1 decade agoWhy don't I have any courgettes growing?!?
This is my first time growing courgette plants and they have grown to a good size and are flowering but I haven't had a courgette yet? I have four plants in the ground and 2 in pots. They all seem healthy with minimal snail/slug damage.
Am I missing something?? I am most peeved as I gave a plant to my neighbour who has already had a good size courgette which she's eating tonight. What am I doing wrong?!
Any suggestions welcome! Thanks
2 AnswersGarden & Landscape1 decade agoIs there any other pain comparable with childbirth?
As time is ticking on, I am getting more nervous about the pain of giving birth. Have you ever experienced pain on a similar level outside childbirth?
Can anyone reassure me?!!!!
14 AnswersPregnancy1 decade agoHow long would you go without feeling the baby move at 22 weeks pregnant?
I have been feeling movements from 17 weeks and until a couple of days ago, the baby was pretty active. I have felt less movements over the last few days. I am wondering how long other people would go without feeling a movement at this stage before panicking and/or seeking medical advice?
I would be grateful for all experiences here.
Thanks.
11 AnswersPregnancy1 decade agoHow long does it take for tomato seeds to germinate?
I planted tomato seed along with other crops 3 weeks ago. All the other seeds have germinated and are growing well (well the beans have also been quite slow too to be honest). Have I got a dodgy batch of seeds or should I wait it out? All the seeds are growing bya window in our shed.
Is there any specific treatment I should use for tomato seeds? I don't want to miss out on a crop as the tomatoes we inherited last year when we brought the house we fabulous.
Thanks!
