What if in our early universe (or in the early stages of another universe) the Higgs field imparted mass to a?
to a different set of particles? Could this affect the number of dimensions of that universe? For example, could this cause , say, a two-dimensional universe?
1 AnswerPhysics9 years agoRE The model of the eleven dimensional universe: When did the eleven dimensions come into existence?
Was the pre-Big Bang singularity a one dimensional universe? Did the 11 dimensions come into existence at the moment of the Big Bang or shortly thereafter? Or did each dimension come into existence one by one? If so, has the creation/evolution of more dimensions ceased?
2 AnswersPhysics1 decade agoIn a closed universe, does time necessarily have to 'move' forward during the 'big crunch?'?
Suppose there exists a closed universe (i.e., one in which gravity overcomes the forces of expansion). When this universe stops expanding and begins to collapse in on itself, we would assume that time will continue to 'move' forward. But must it? Could time reverse? If not, why not?
2 AnswersPhysics1 decade agoWhat if the speed of light (c) is not the absolute constant that we have always thought it to be?
Recent experiments have shown that the velocity of light can be increased and decreased. What if c is a function of the rate of expansion of the universe? Any thoughts?
