  • What's a good hair style for me? Opinions please!?

I am 26 years old & am looking to get a new hair style. My hair is an auburn color. In the past I have highlighted it, dyed it blonde, grown it medium length, & cut it up to my shoulders. Right now it is down to my shoulder blades. I haven't had my hair cut since Jan cause I was pregnant & then I had my daughter 6 weeks early in may, she is now 3 months old. I am short, only 5ft 3inch, & overweight. I'm not sure what hair style is best for me. I was thinking of just trimming the split ends & getting a perm, but i'm not sure. I also like Chelsea Kane's hair style from Baby Daddy, which is really short, like right below her ears, but I wasn't sure if real short hair is good for my body type. I don't want tp get a hair style that makes me look bigger than I already am. Any suggestions. Would Chelsea Kane's hair style work for me? What would you suggest.

  • Could my baby be teething?

I have baby girl who will be 3 months on the 17th. She was actually a preemie & born 6wks early on may 17th. About a week or two ago, I noticed she began drooling a lot, constantly putting her fist in her mouth & sucking/gnawing on it (even after eating, when she's no longer hungry), sucking/gnawing on my fingers/knuckles & shoulder & shirt, her feedings has decreased (she starts out acting like she's starving & then only takes half the bottle, where before she would take the whole bottle almost every feeding), she is also experiencing fussiness & irritability but she has a lot of gas (has had problems with excessive gas since birth) & she's constipated when she does go her bowels are long hard turds (so i'm not sure what the fussiness/irritabilty is from-the constipation began about a week or two ago too). My question is with her turning 3months on the 17th could she be teething already. From what I read it sounds like teething with the excessive drooling (it's so bad I have to put a recieving blanket under her head so the drool doesn't get on her sheets or her quilt when I do tummy time) & the sucking/gnawing at everything & the decreased feedings (at first I thought the decreased feedings was just cause we have to keep switching her formula to try to help the gas, but now i'm wondering if that could be apart of teething). Any advice/experince would be greatly appreciated. She has an appointment with her pediatrician in the morning due to the bad gas & constipation, so i'm gonna ask him if she could be in the early stages of teething. She's still sleeping through the night, but I know that teething symptoms can actually begin a few weeks to months before the first tooth actually arrives. Thanks!

  • Is it normal to dilate @ 29weeks with your 1st pregnancy?

I am currently 30weeks pregnant. At my last OB appt on last thursday at 29weeks the midwife checked me cause 1) i'm a high risk pregnancy & 2) for the past week before my appt I had been experiencing really bad lower abdominal pain & lower back pain. During the examination she noted that I was a 1/2cm dilated. She then sent me straight to the hospital to labor & delivery to be checked for preterm labor. At the hospital they did an Ffn test (which would tell them what my chances are of delivering within the next 2 weeks) & hooked me up to the monitor. The Ffn test came back negative meaning there is a 98% chance I won't deliver in the next 2 weeks & the monitor showed no contractions. The doctor at the hospital is not concerned, he said that some women start dilating early & go full term. He didn't say I had to go on bedrest or give me a shot to develop the baby's lungs faster. They sent me home & just said activity as tolerated. They believe the abdominal pain & back pain is just stretching plus I have myotonic muscular dystrophy which makes the stretching worse. Anyhow, has anyone ever dilated at 29-30weeks with their 1st pregnancy & still went on to term? Is it normal to begin dilating this early & the doctor not put me on bed rest or anything. My next appt is next thursday the 26th for a 2week checkup & ultrasound since i'm high risk. Should I be rechecked to see i'm continuing to dilate or not? I've had friends tell me to watch how much i'm checked cause if i'm checked too much it could cause me to lose my mucous plug. What should I do? Is this normal to be 1/2cm dilated at 29-30weeks?

  • 17wks from lmp, baby measuring 16wks6days. Not gaining weight. should i be concerned?

I am currently 17wks from my lmp, baby is measuring 16wks6days. Before I got pregnant I weighed 214lbs which is considered obese. After I found out I was pregnant I start losing weight rapidly. My OB told me I could lose up to 40lbs & it wouldn't hurt. I'm not losing as much weight now, but I'm still not gaining. I'm not hungry at all through the day. I make sure to eat a sandwich or something so I take my prenatal, but I really don't start getting hungry till 4p & then I get really hungry at bedtime. However, since I'm experiencing heartburn my OB recommended I not eat 2 hours before bed. I eat at least 2-3 times a day. Small meals in the morning & bigger meals in the after noon. My current weight is 192, so I've lost 22lbs so far. Even though I eat a lot in the evening I'm not putting on weight. Could everything I'm eating be going to the baby. The doctors still aren't concerned that I'm not gaining. I just saw them today & the baby is fine weighing 7ounces like it should for 16wksGA. This is my 2nd pregnancy. My 1st ended in miscarriage at 5-6wks, so I really don't wanna risk hurting the baby. Has anyone else every experienced this? I still have nausea on & off, but am on zofran(which is safe) for that. What is your opinion?

  • Thick, clumpy, yellowish/brownish discharge @ 17wks preg. Diagnosed with yeast infection? is it yeast?

I am 17wks pregnant from my lmp (which was 09/14/11). I was just diagnosed with a vaginal yeast infection. The doctor told me to use monistat 3 vaginal suppositories. Thing is I thought the discharge with vaginal yeast infections was thick white & clumpy. The discharge I'm experiencing is thick yellowish/brown & clumpy. Along with the discharge I am experiencing vaginal itching. Can vaginal yeast infections have thick yellowish/brownish clumpy discharge too. This is my 2nd pregnancy. My 1st pregnancy ended in miscarriage @ 5-6wks. I just want to get this taken care of. Has anyone else experienced vaginal yeast infection with discharge like mine. Or could it be a bacterial infection. I know vaginal bacterial infections can cause complications during pregnancy & I don't want anything to happen. And for those of you who answered my other question & stated it's an STD. It's not! I am on pelvic rest due to a low lying placenta. The last time my husband and I had sex was when I conceived. And bacterial vaginosis can be yellowish/brown look it up. I've also read yeast infections can be discolored, I've just never had one this color. What is your opinions?

  • What is the risk of miscarriage after 1 previous miscarriage? Has it dropped since heard heartbeat on doppler?

I am currently 10wks 4days pregnant. When I was 9wks 5days(last monday the 21st) I was @ my OB's office for a ER follow up. I have been having spotting on & off (sometimes pink, sometimes red, & lately brown w/ tiny clots) & cramping this whole pregnancy so far. I have polycystic ovarian syndrome & an enlarged right ovary, so the OB seems to think I'm in for a painful pregnancy. At the beginning of the pregnancy the OB was concerned because @ 5wks (when my hcg levels were above 5000) all we saw on transvaginal ultrasound was the gestational sac, 1 wk later (@ 6wks) we saw the gestational sac & yolk sac, & then finally @ 7wks we saw the heartbeat through transvaginal ultrasound. Last sunday (9wks 4days) when I was @ the ER they were able to see the baby & the heartbeat @ 191bpm on abdominal ultrasound. Followed up with OB on monday & he heard the heartbeat through the doppler (it wasn't very loud cause I was only 9wks @ the time, but it was definitly the baby's heartbeat). My OB told me not to worry that I'm out of the danger zone. The bleeding I was having has basically turned to all brown with a few small brown clots on & off for the past couple days. Now I know my OB said not worry that I'm out of the danger zone, but I already miscarried my 1st on Nov 8th 2010, so I'm still really scared. What is the risk of miscarriage after having 1 previous miscarriage, but seeing heartbeat through abdominal ultrasound & hearing heartbeat on doppler. With already having 1 miscarriage I worry over every little spot & ache & pain. I go for another ultrasound (a previous appointment I had before the ER visit) on friday Dec 2nd, I will be 11wks 2days. Just wondering what the risk of miscarriage is after hearing baby's heartbeat on doppler @ 9wks even with 1 previous miscarriage. Thanks

  • Need Help! 9wks pregnant & HCG levels went from 103000 to greater than 1250!?

I am 9wks 5days. I just got back to the ER due to heavy bleeding & cramping. I was diagnosed last tuesday the 15th with placenta previa & put on bed rest. Started bleeding & cramping & was advised to go to the ER. ER doctor said the ultrasound looks fine with the baby's heartbeat of 191bpm, which is good. They advised me to follow up with my OB in the morning. They said my HCG levels came back saying they were greater than 1250, which I know is not normal for 9wks pregnant. They said I could've reached my peak & started declining, however I know that even if your HCG levels peak & start declining it is normally around 60000, not 1250. My HCG levels on the 12th were 103000, which I know is a big drop down to 1250. However, the ER doc said not to worry ultrasound looks good. What is going on? The cramping is so severe (on a scale of 1-10 it's a 20) & the bleeding is like the 1st day of my period. Am I beginning to miscarry? If I am starting to miscarry, why would the baby's heartbeat be 191bpm with a hcg level greater than 1250(is what the lab said). This is my 2nd pregnancy, I miscarried my 1st on Nov 8th 2010 @ about 5wks. Can anyone tell me if this happened to them (really low hcg level but good heartbeat on ultrasound) & how did it turn out. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

  • Diagnosed with low lying placenta @ 8wks 6days pregnant? Cramping & spotting due to low lying placenta?

Hello, I am currently 8wks 6days pregnant from lmp. I went to my OB today for a ER follow-up. I have been spotting & cramping real bad for the past 2 weeks. My ultrasound today looked good. Doctor said the baby was measuring @ 8wks 1day which is a little big according to my lmp, but maybe I was wrong on the date. The doctor said the baby looks fine & has a good heartbeat of 171bpm(this was all with vaginal ultrasound). The doctor did say I have a low lying placenta, which is what is causing my bleeding (sometimes it's bright red & heavy). Since the placenta is starting to form & take over caring for the baby my levels don't double like they used to. Last sunday the 6th they were 69000 & thursday the 10th they were 99000, & then I had them redrawn on saturday & they were 103000. The doctor isn't too concerned. He said the baby is big which means it's getting all the nutrients it needs & he put me on bed rest until further notice. I was bleeding pretty heavily after the transvaginal ultrasound, but since I came home & layed down it has lightened up quite a bit. The doctor told me to use heating pad for the cramps (they seem to think the cramps are a combination of my uterus starting to expand & I have polycystic ovarian syndrome too). I miscarried my 1st pregnancy on Nov 8th 2010, so I'm really scared. Has anyone else had a low lying placenta diagnosed this early in pregnancy? Did everything turn out ok? In the beginning of the pregnancy the doctor was concerned cause the baby wasn't developing properly & now it's bigger than it should be. My levels are right where they should be. He said I'm not out of the woods yet, but with the heartbeat @ 171bpm & the size of the baby it's all good news. What were your experiences with this condition. Did you go on to deliver full term? Any advice would be greatly appreciated

  • 8wks 5days pregnant, rising hcg levels, but not doubling.?

I am currently 8wks 5days pregnant from lmp. Since finding out I was pregnant @ mid october I have been at the ER at least once to twice a week & @ the OB office weekly. I have polycystic ovarian syndrome on top of the pregnancy. I have been having really severe abdominal cramps & been spotting (light pink to bright red & back to light pink) on & off. The OB's kept a check on my HCG levels & ultrasounds. When I was 6wks 1day, we finally saw the heartbeat, but now my pain is getting worse & the bleeding keeps coming & going. I was @ the ER last sunday Nov 6th & the ultrasound was still showing growth & a heartbeat & my levels were @ 69000. Then thursday the 10th I was back in the ER & the doc said my cervix is still closed & my levels were @ 99000. The ER suggested I have my levels redrawn in 48hrs. So I go my levels redrawn again on sat & they came back @ 103000. Since I am 8wks 5days the nurse @ the OB said it's probably @ the point where it takes longer for my levels to double & they are probably close to reaching there peak. I go for another ultrasound tomorrow, just to check & see if everything is still going good. What was anyone else's experience with this? When did your levels start taking longer to double? Has anyone had a situation where @ a certain point there levels continued to rise but did not double. The doctor's are diagnosing me with a threatened miscarriage due to all the pain & spotting. I miscarried my first pregnancy Nov 8th 2010, so I'm really scared. Any advice or experience would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

  • Currently 8wks 3days pregnant. HCG levels still rising(checked sunday & thursday), not completely doubled.?

Hello, today I am currently 8wks & 3days pregnant. I have been having complications with this pregnancy since the beginning. Mostly when my levels were above 5000 (@5wks) they couldn't see the fetal pole or heartbeat & it didn't look like a normal pregnancy. Well, last saturday (nov 5) I started with light spotting & I have been having abdominal cramping since the beginning of my pregnancy, but I have a bunch of ovarian cyst to. Well, sunday (nov 6th) I went to the ER cause the spotting had turned bright red & the pain was severe. They did an ultrasound and baby had a heartbeat of 143bpm & my level were 69000. I've been spotting since then with pain & thursday (nov 10th) the pain was so bad I went back to the ER. They didn't do another u/s, but checked my cervix & said it was still closed & said my levels had went up to 99000. I though I should've at least been at 136000 since sunday, but they said my levels were good & with my cervix still closed it was all good news. I go this morning to get my levels redrawn & I have an u/s scheduled with my OB for tuesday. I have read that hcg levels usually peak around 8-10wks & then taper off & level the rest of the pregnancy. when did your hcg levels peak? Is my numbers normal is they did increase from 69000 to 99000 but didn't completely double. I miscarried my 1st pregnancy last november 8th. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

  • HCG levels above 5000, just gestational sac no yolk sac or fetal pole on ultrasound. Possible Blighted Ovum?

I am 6wks0days pregnant from LMP today. Last wed I began with lower abdominal pain, most of the pain is my right side, but it radiates all over. I was @ the OB last thursday & they did an ultrasound & said it was still to early to see anything. On friday I had my HCG levels redrawn, they were 2948. On sunday, the pain/cramping got real bad so I went to the ER. They said my levels were still rising, they were 5843. However the ER doc talked to whoever was on call @ my OB's office & she said that with where my levels are @ you should be able to see a gestational sac & fetal pole by now. She recommended I be seen in the office again. So on monday, I went back to my OB for a follow-up & saw someone different than who the ER doctor talked to. The OB I saw monday said my cervix is still closed & with my levels rising it's a good thing. He then compared thursdays ultrasound they did & the ultrasound the ER did sunday & said that the gestational sac did grow since thursday, but it didn't look like a normal pregnancy. He said he couldn't give me good news or bad news. He put a threatened abortion on my papers for the insurance company because he said I might miscarry, but he couldn't say for sure. He said they usually do see a gestational sac, yolk sac, & fetal pole when the HCG levels reach above 5000, but he also said he has seen cases where the fetal pole wasn't seen till the levels were higher. I have to go today & get my levels redrawn & tomorrow I go back to the office for another ultrasound to see if the sac is still growing & then talk to the doctor after the ultrasound. I know of blighted ovums, where the gestational sac forms but no embryo. My questions is in a blighted ovum can the gestational sac still continue to grow even though there is no embryo & would your hcg levels still rise normally? This is my 2nd pregnancy, I miscarried my 1st on 11/08/10 but last time we didn't even see a gestational sac so we are further this time. Thanks

  • HCG level 5843, but no fetal pole on ultrasound?

I am 5wks4days pregnant from my LMP on 09/14/11. I was just at the ER tonight due to lower abdominal pain. I have polycystic ovarian syndrome & have a bunch of ovarian cyst. They 1st told me since my levels went from 2973 on friday to 5843 today that my pain is probably the cyst. The ultrasound showed what looked to be a gestational sac but they couldn't say for sure. Well, they called my OB on call & he said with my levels above 5000 we should see the gestational sac & a fetal pole. I have no idea when I ovulated, but according to my levels I'm right where I should be. I have to call my OB in the morning & go in cause they want to repeat the ultrasound to make sure the ER didn't miss it. I'm so worried they are not gonna see the fetal pole either & suggest a D&C. This is my 2nd pregnancy I miscarried my first 11/08/10. If the doctor would suggest a D&C should I get it done? What if the baby's just developing slow? Has anyone had the same thing happen to them & everything turn out fine? Any advice or stories would be greatly appreciated. If I lose this one, I just don't know if I can risk trying a 3rd time.

  • 5 wks 2 days preg from LMP, ultrasound showed something in uterus but not identifiable.?

Hello, I am 5 wks 2 days pregnant from my LMP. This is my 2nd pregnancy, I miscarried my 1st 11/08/10. I was @ the ER wednesday night due to Right lower abdominal pain. The ER drew my hcg levels & said that they had more than doubled (monday they were 333 & wed night they were 1500) & they also did an ultrasound, but couldn't make anything out. Yesterday (thursday) morning I woke up to pain across my lower abdomen & light spotting. I called my OB & they told me to come into the office right away. The OB checked my cervix & said it was still closed which is good & he said since my levels more than doubled it was a good sign. He also repeated the ultrasound in the office & the tech said there is a round sac in my uterus which looks like a gestational sac, but it's still really early to say for sure. The doctor is concerned about ectopic pregnancy since most of my pain is my right side. The thing is I have polycystic ovarian syndrome, so I have 2 cyst on my left ovary & 3 on my right, the biggest measuring 4cm. My question is since they are pretty sure what they saw is the gestational sac, is that normal. They couldn't say for sure, but they are pretty sure that's what is was. Could my pain just be from my cyst. The doctor said I would probably have a more painful pregnancy than someone with PCOS. I go tonight to get my hcg levels redrawn. I'm just worried cause the last time is was pregnant I miscarried. What is your opinion. Is it normal to show what looks like a gestational sac, but they can't say for sure on the ultrasound. I have another appointment with the OB wed which I will be 6 wks from my LMP. Opinions. Advice. Thanks. Also, I haven't spotted since yesterday so far. Could the potting have been from the ER doing a pelvic exam. I'm just trying to be careful. Also LMP was 09/14/11. So I would be five weeks 2 day, but I have no idea when I ovulated or could've concieved. We weren't trying.

  • Does pregnancy blood test tell you how far along you are or just how old the fetus is?

Hello, I just found out I am pregnant. My last menstrual period was Sept 14th, which would make me 4 weeks going on 5 weeks. I got the blood test today to confirm it. And my family doctor said my levels were 333 which makes me 2 weeks. Now I'm a little confused. I thought you always went by your LMP, which would make me 4 weeks. Does the blood test only go by gestational age or is it the same thing. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I already miscarried once and now the lab results have me concerned cause my last period was Sept 14th. Thanks.

I need women's experience with this. I am 25 yrs old & my husband & I are TTC. I had a miscarriage 11/08/10 @ 4-5 wks & my monthly cycles have been very irregular, varying from 29 days to 40 days. My lmp was 06/12/11, I began using opk's this month starting 06/26. On 06/26, it was -, on 06/27 -, on 06/28 +(I tested between 3p & 4p), & then on 06/29 - again; so I'm thinking I ovulated anywhere between 3-4p on the 28th & 2p on the 29th. My husband and I did the deed on sat the 25th & the 29th about 4am. We didn't get to do the every other day plan because he wasn't feeling the greatest that whole week. I haven't really been charting my bbt, but it has been higher than normal. The thing is beginning on 07/03/11 @ 5dpo I began having cramping like AF, it only lasted for 1 day & now it's gone. Now, I'm 7dpo & I'm having much more frequent urination(more than I normally go & that's how I was with my last pregnancy before I miscarried) & very sore & tender boobs(especially on the sides & bottom of my breast, the only way to relive it is to grab my breast from underneath & hold them up). The only other symptoms is insomnia(I haven't slept for 3 days) & hunger pangs especially around midnight each night. The insomnia could possibly be because my asthma is acting up & I'm wheezing & coughing all night long, I'm not sure if insomnia is a pregnancy symptom. As for the hunger pangs every night @ midnight, I wasn't like that with my 1st pregnancy. I had lost of appetite & severe nausea up until I miscarried. What do you think is going on? According to when I ovulated my next period is due probably 07/12/11 or 07/13/11, I'm thinking sometime the wk of the 11th. I'm 7dpo today so I know it's too early to test. I'm thinking about testing monday the 11th & if I get a - then waiting 2 days & then testing again. I'm just wondering what anyone else experience @ 7dpo, if you had symptoms & it turned out you were pg. I also have PCOS & began metformin 05/20/11. Thanks.
