  • So now the race is back on?

    To win La Liga:

    Atleti needs 4 points.

Barca need 6 points & Madrid to drop points.

Madrid need 9 pts & Atleti to drop points.

Still Atleti are the favorites. The play Malaga which have no ambitions anymore (no Europe, no relegation). The Barca game is complicated to discuss now.

Madrid face Valladolid who are fighting for their lives to stay in La Liga and then travel to Celta Vigo who aren't a bad team at all. They'll probably win their last game at home vs Espanyol.

Barcelona visit Elche who are also fighting to stay in the top flight but are somewhat safer. They then play Atletico at home.

We still don't know when will they play those games and that could be a factor because teams would have time to calculate scenarios.

  • If people are thinking that the final will be anything like Bayern vs RM or Chelsea vs Atleti?

Then they are out of their minds. Teams won't go out and just play, see if things will work their way. Everything is planned, Ancelotti and Simeone won't sleep at night analyzing each other's strategies. And a lot of my friends who are RM fans are already celebrating as if they won anything (same thing with some users here and some newspapers) but I think Atleti feel comfortable not being the favorite. I just think some RM fans are too caught up in this Bayern demolition.

Firstly, La Liga isn't finished yet. Atleti and RM are the favorites and we don't how winning it would affect them. Will it be enough for Atleti if they win it and kinda enter the final satisfied or will RM win it and go for the treble? There could even be some injuries for the final until then too

This is both teams' moment. Atleti probably won't reach the final for some years and RM have everything going their way so far - no injuries, successful tactics, great results. Atleti know they can make history and shock the world, becoming the greatest upset in modern football history IMO. On the other hand, RM can finally hit the nail on the head and end the Decima obsession.

Might I add that this is LOCAL rivalry? How crazy is that for a CL final?

I'm personally stoked for the final, after I saw both semifinals, this was the best pairing there could be. I hope for an Atleti win just because I always fancy the underdog and I would want their hard work to be rewarded (not saying RM didn't work hard).

  • So what's the difference between Chelsea and RM?

When it comes to their bus-parking abilities? Both of them have 30 % of possession or less. You'll say they won 4-0, of course they won 4-0 when they have the best attacking line in the world, you think Mourinho wouldn't use them if he had them at Chelsea? Why is Chelsea "parking the bus" but RM are "counter-attacking" or "having a great defensive display"? Pepe was man of the match in both games IMO (followed by Carvajal), that should tell you something. You can't say their attacking line played than the back line, no way. BBC had half of the pitch to themselves! RM have the best squad in the world, Chelsea can't even field a standard starting XI, they always change line-ups and they have no strikers, zero squad depth. People are just too afraid to call RM out, on the other hand it's very easy to hate Chelsea, believe me.

And even though they won 4-0, it's not like Bayern got demolished footballing wise (yes their tactics didn't work). RM scored through SERGIO RAMOS TWICE for God's sake, that was planned or anything, it just happened. Bayern got shocked after those 2 quick goals and I predicted their collapse after that. The first C.Ronaldo goal was anything mindblowing, good run by Bale, easy tap-in. The second goal was smooth but it came when the game was already finished.

I just think the game died in the first 20 minutes and I know nobody is going to agree with me because all of you are RM fans and you're too busy enjoying this victory, I just thought I'd say this.

  • How can people still praise Mourinho?

He won a couple of trophies, so what? Is that what football is all about? I watch football now because it attracted me as a kid, I thought playing with a ball was cool (so basically liked it because it was fun). Now I understand Chelsea fans liking him because he "introduced" them to glory 10 years ago, but outsiders? Why are you obsessed with this guy and his so called "win no matter what" mentality, why not apply that in something real that concerns you like..oh, YOUR LIFE! This is just a football game, why not fancy the innovative, attractive, attacking teams? I don't sit in front of the TV (and not go out let's say) to see a team winning against a team. I watch it so hopefully it will be an entertaining game.

Why is it that millions of people like that style of football but say Italian clubs play anti-football? I have never seen a more (Italian) defensive team in my life (except for his Inter of course). I mean I kind of understand doing it when you have 10 players and facing let's say Barcelona, but Atletico Madrid?

And didn't Mourinho criticize West Ham months ago saying their style is "19th century football"? How can those words come out of his mouth?!?!

This match tonight was the most boring CL game all season. Other boring games this season include Arsenal vs Chelsea (0:0) and Manchester United vs Chelsea (0:0).

  • So what's happening with C.Ronaldo?

considering the number of fanboys he has here, you must know.

He is fit enough to make the bench vs Dortmund but now reports are saying he might miss the Copa del Rey final. Are RM trying rush him just like Barca did with Messi last year?

  • If Atleti would have knocked RM tonight?

how many questions would their fans ask complaining about the ref? Why can't Barca players/officials/fans act like little b!tches who can't take a loss like men and yap about the refereeing decisions?

All these fans here are more happy today than they were yesterday when RM went through.

Atleti were tireless, they should really test those players man, beast mode ON (during the whole season too)! Koke was all over the place.

Hats off to them. Proved why they are the best team in Spain, probably in Europe.

  • Is Atleti the real Bayern?

Bayern is good but they are supposed to be good. Big club, great coach, squad depth.

Nobody is beating Atletico. They top the same league Barca and RM compete in. And they use almost the same starting XI during the whole season.

I would love to see a Bayern vs Atletico final.

  • So I hear Bale's back at his best?

Scoring meaningless goals against relegation teams.

  • Best goal of the Clasico?

Iniesta's unstoppable shot came after 24 passes.

If I had to pick one of the penalties, it'd be the third one because it was the most important one and the strike was pretty accurate.

But that ball control from Benzema on his second goal though..

  • What does Sergio Ramos love more?

His girlfriend or red cards? Tough one..

On a serious note: He is now is the all-time leader in La Liga red cards after his dismissal against Barcelona. How is that even possible for a soon-to-be 28 year old playing for a big club like RM?

They probably stopped counting his yellow ones..

  • Why can't anybody here be a gentleman?

Be proud of your team and congratulate your opponent.

Seriously, this was (probably) the best Clasico I have ever seen in my life. It had everything: goals, battles, controversy, red cards, importance etc.

Seeing those 2 giants go head to head in a 7 goal game thriller, what more do you want?

    Great performance by both teams.

I'm still rooting for Atleti to win the league though.

  • How can Madrid be so lucky?

    2009-2010 - Lyon

2010-2011 - Lyon, Tottenham, Barcelona (semifinals)

2011-2012 - CSKA Moscow, APOEL, Bayern (semifinals)

2012-2013 - Man United, Galatasaray, Dortmund (semifinals)

    2013-2014 - Schalke, Dortmund

Their way to the semifinals is basically open for 5 years in a row, constantly facing the worse teams left. And before Saint Iker jumps to say "oh but the groups they're in is always the group of the death" - what's better: to face Bayern in the group or in an elimination round? You can still lose to them in the group and progress to the next round, it's just a group. The only time they face a quality team is the semifinal and they always choke.

  • Did Busquets explain it best?

When asked about the refereeing decisions in the City - Barca, he was quoted saying "I think that the referees make mistakes frequently. Sometimes those mistakes are good for you and other times are bad."

Finally someone who gets what I'm saying. Why complain about the ref who will potentially help you the next game, what's the point? Referees will always make mistakes. Sometimes you benefit from the them, sometimes you don't. Why be mad at a team when that can happen to your favorite team the next day? It's like complaining for a card, you can only make it worse (get banned or suspended), you can't go back in time, just move on.

Big teams (the top 4 in England, Barca and Madrid in Spain, Juventus, Milan and Inter in Italy) should never complain. All of them get favors when they play against smaller teams, it's just depends on which team you're watching, which team do YOU want to see get favors. It isn't just Man United in England, Barca/RM in Spain or Juve in Italy, it's every big team in every country and that's normal, even though it's wrong. Same thing goes with players, Messi could punch someone in the face and not get red-carded because he's Messi, he's a bigger player.

I guess that's why football is the #1 sport, there are always never-ending discussions even after the games, things are more spiced up than in other sports.

  • Is the Madrid derby the new Clasico?

As in the new WWE show? While Mourinho was there it looked like he held the team in a cage starving them and release them during Clasico time. They seem more calm with Ancelotti now but every time they face Atleti the show is on!

There's just too much kicking, slapping, pushing, diving involved from both sides.

7 AnswersSpanish Football (Soccer)7 years ago
  • Who wins the Madrid derby tonight?

Out of the last 5 games, RM has won 3 while Atleti beat RM in the last 2 matches.

Atletico are without one of the most important players Filipe Luis and David Villa, but they got Diego now and Arda Turan is doubtful.

    RM have no injury worries.

My prediction: 2-1 to RM or a 1-1 draw

3 AnswersSpanish Football (Soccer)7 years ago
  • So what does Barca/Atleti have to do..?

in order for RMA to take the lead? Not play for the whole second half of the season or lose 5 times in a row? Spend another 500 mill?

They haven't managed to come even 2nd this whole season, let alone secure the top spot.

7 AnswersSpanish Football (Soccer)7 years ago
  • Lol @ Mourinho slamming other teams' tactics?

After the match against West Ham: "This is football from the 19th century. It's very difficult to play a football match when only one team wants to play. A football match is about two teams playing."

This was said by the man who basically invented "parking the bus" and who won most of his trophies by doing just that.

Waiting for RM fans to jump and defend him..

Why is it that when someone else does it, it's because they feel inferior to the team they're facing or they're scared or they don't know how to play "real" football, but when Mourinho does it it's a brilliant tactic and he's an excellent manager that tricks the other team into thinking they're dominating or it's not parking the bus but it's counter-attacking or other stuff people make up

  • So did the extension help C.Ronaldo or not?

Does anyone have an information from a valuable source about that? And will the voting always end at the end of November or was it just this time?

6 AnswersSpanish Football (Soccer)7 years ago
  • Did you see the final voting percentages?

    2013 Ballon d'Or: Ronaldo 27,99% - Messi 24,72% - Ribéry 23,36%

People who said it will be the toughest call to make were right, I personally didn't expect the numbers of the votes to be so close.

Congratulations to Cristiano, he deserves it.
