Mad Scientist Genetic Question?
I'm a math geek, and I have a number fetish. So ...
Is there any negative real-world/scientific impact for creating a mythological beast that has a total of 360 chromosomes - 6 haploids/sets of 60? (typical humans have 2 sets of 23 for a total of 46)
When one of the composite sets is short or contains damaged elements, that results in miscarriages and developmental problems. It is most easily seen as empty spaces in the chromosome map. Is there something else I'm missing? I was using the crossbreeding of goats and sheep as an example. One's 54, the other 60, the very rare offspring usually has 57 and may not be born live.
