My name is Michael.I am from South Carolina.I LOVE NASCAR.I am the biggest Jimmie Johnson fan EVER!!(hence the screen name).I hold two degrees in psychology(A.A./A.S.),am 5 courses away from a B.S.(University of South Carolina),and plan to pursue a M.S. and Ed.S. in Marriage and Family Therapy(if finances allow) after undergraduate school.I am a firm believer in Jesus Christ and love meeting and helping people. http://www.myspace.com/michaelb48

  • Why NASCAR Fans????WHY?

WHY?WHY?WHY? Does NASCAR keep letting drivers like Sam Hornish,Jr. drive every weekend and tear the wall down(along with a few drivers and affect the outcome of the race) every weekend???? When will NASCAR say enough is enough???Sam Hornish,Jr. has spent a larger percentage of laps behind the wall than he has on the track since his debut.I understand developmental programs, but my GOD!!!

  • Dale Earnhardt,Jr.???

Does anyone else(non-Jr. fans, like myself-I know his fans do) want to see Jr. be a heck of a ot better next year?

My heart goes out to that guy.It seems like if there vis anything that can go wrong to anyone,it is him.Like I have made clear;I am not a Jr. fan but God would I love too see the guy go into the 2010 season and make a huge bang!!!

  • Who is better?Johnson or Gordon?

I have heard(and have personally had within myself) much debate as to who is the better driver, particularly at this point in their career.I will(as I always do) give you all of the statistics.

Here are the statistics of the first 8 seasons of each drivers career:

    * = championship earned that year

    Gordon Johnson

    W/T5/T10 W/T5/T10

    1993 0/7/11 2002 3/6/21

    1994 2/7/14 2003 3/14/20

    1995 7/17/23* 2004 8/20/23

    1996 10/21/24 2005 4/13/22

    1997 10/22/23* 2006 5/13/24*

    1998 13/26/28* 2007 10/20/24*

    1999 7/18/21 2008 7/15/22*

    2000 3/11/22 2009 7/16/24*

As you can see by the chart, after 8 full-time seasons. Here are the results:

    Wins:

    Gordon=52 Johnson=47(Gordon on top by 5 wins)

    Top 5's:

    Gordon=129 Johnson=117(Gordon on top by 12 top 5's)

    Top 10's:

    Gordon=157 Johnson=180(Johnson on top by 23 top 10's)

    Championships:

    Gordon=3 Johnson=4[in a row,I might add] (Johnson on top by 1)

It is clear to me after spending the time to do all of this that Gordon is a GREAT driver but Johnson is still better at this point in his career. What is your perspective???

  • Coca-Cola 600 possible rainout?

Does anyone else think that NASCAR should start the 600 earlier today because of the rain and storms that are coming to Concord tonight? The weather is clear for the next 4 hours but there is an 80% chance of rain for the race tonight.

  • Is anyone here going to the Southern 500?

What(if any) members of NASCAR Nation are going to the Southern 500 at Darlington this year?

My fiance and I are going with some friends.

  • Deja vu,NASCAR Nation?

Does anyone else feel like this season may be reminiscent of the Johnson-Gordon dominated 2007 season?

I am so glad to see Jeff doing so good again and am obviously glad to see the 48 having a great start again after the slow start last year. What are your thoughts on the start of the season so far?Who do you think the favorites will be for the championship this year?

  • What happened to Montoya?

Can someone please explain what the heck happened to JPM after the restart at Daytona?

He was leading the race when either the next to last caution or the one before that.He never pitted or anything and when they restarted,he was nowhere to be found(he was actually in 22nd on the restart).

FOX never took the time to explain what the heck happened as they were still running ther mouths about Junior and Vickers.

  • Speedweeks rules question?

If a car is on the front row after qualifying and they wreck, blow an engine, etc. during the Gatorade duels, does the one engine rule still apply(would they have to go to the rear of the field for the 500?

I would imagine that they would have to,but this is just a question that crossed my mind that I wasn't sure of.Thanks for all answers.

  • Stupid end to Arca race?

Does anyone else feel that Arca should have just ended the race under caution if they were going to only give the guys one lap to go for the win?

I was expecting a green-white-checker,but they dropped the green flag and it was the final lap.It takes these cars 1 lap just to get up to speed.Stupid move by Arca-I wouldn't have waited around during that long red flag if I had known that crap.Guess that's why i'm a NASCAR fan and not an Arca fan.

  • Anyone think this is funny?

Does anyone else find it hilarious that Greg Zipadelli had to choose for Joey Logano LOL.

To make this 2 questions in one...

What do you think about Joey Logano winning the Racer Magazine Rookie of the Year and Jimmie Johnson winning his 3rd consecutive SPEED Performer of the Year award(beating everyone from all forms of racing again)?

  • new Chase schedule opinions?

Now that they have changed the Chase schedule a bit,how do you think it will effect the championsip(if at all). For those not familiar with the old vs.new:

    Loudon

    Dover

    Kansas

    California(was Talladega)

    Charlotte

    Martinsville

    Talladega(was Atlanta)

    Texas

    Phoenix

    Homestead

Do you think the addition of California will change anything?

Do you think moving Talladega closer to the end will hurt those cought up in wrecks more with less time to rebound?

    Bonus question:

For those who may feel that the Chase is tailor-made for Johnson,do you think trading Atlanta for California will help, hurt,or make no difference in the 48's performance?

I,personally, feel that the addition of California will neither hurt nor help Jimmie. He has three wins at each track and has the highest avg. finishing position of all drivers at both tracks since 2003(5.4 at Cali and 4.8 at Atlanta)

    Thanks for all answers

  • Could Labonte be successful in 2009?

I don't know who all saw the press interview with Bobby Labonte on Preseason Thunder today, but he is SO excited about driving the 96 Yates Ford.I haven't seen Labonte that excited in years.Could he know something that we don't?

  • Does anyone else do this?

Every time I go to a NASCAR race,I camp out for the entire weekend(either in the infield or at an outside camping area(always in a tent). The main reason I do that is because I(or anyone I am with) don't need to be driving after a race lol.Besides, the traffic is horrible and I am a very impatient person.

    My question is...

what camping experiences(if any) have you had at race tracks??

  • Top contenders for 2009 Cup?

NASCAR Nation, who are your top picks to win the 2009 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series championship?

    Here are mine

Top 5(in no particular order-of course,I always explain myself for each pick but you don't have to lol):

-Jimmie Johnson(best in the series right now.besides,he won the last 3 lol)

-Carl Edwards(Johnson said it best on his NASCAR Now interview today-Carl learns from his mistakes and betters himself every year)

-Jeff Gordon(I don't believe the 4 time champion is washed up-he will make a comeback in 2009)

-Matt Kenseth(he is always consistent-if he can pull out some more wins, especially during the Chase,he will be a major threat)

-Kyle Busch(I am still not convinced he is as good as his 2008 stats, but if he can be half as succesful as last year and improve his Chase run,he could very well be the champion)

    other threats:

Kurt Busch(if Penske can give this guy some good equipment,he will be a 2-time champion)

David Ragan(this guy gets better every year and he completed more laps than any other driver last year.If he can find victory lane this year,he will find a Chase berth and a legitimate shot at the title)

Mark Martin(the 5 car hasn't ran that well in a while, but if anyone can give that team a good chance at the title,Mark can)

Dale Earnhardt,Jr.(If he can run the entire season the way that he ran the beginning of 2008 and have some better luck,he will be a true threat for the championship)

  • NASCAR Nation, what do you think???

I am going through some very tough times and am about to lose everything that I have.

I was wandering if anyone here is interested in buying some Jimmie Johnson die cast(all 1:24 scale).I would rather sell them as a collection, but would sell them separately if necessary. The entire collection is worth approx. $700-$800.If anyone is interested, just e-mail me and we can discuss the details. Here is the collection:

    -2002 Lowe's rookie

    -2002 Lowe's rookie 1st win raced version(autographed)

    -2002 Lowe's Power of Pride

    -2003 Lowe's Owner's edition

    -2003 Lowe's/Signature Paints/Spongebob

    -2003 Lowe's Power of Pride

    -2004 Lowe's monochrome Loudon win(Chevy 300th win)

    -2004 Lowe's platinum HMS 20th Anniversary

-2004 Lowe's "Always in our Hearts" tribute(Atlanta raced version)

    -2005 Lowe's(autographed)

-2005 Lowe's preview(preview of new paint scheme that raced at LMS,October 2005 and won)

    -2006 Lowe's Sea World

    -2006 Lowe's anniversary(raced at LMS,October 2006)

    -2006 Lowe's Brickyard 400 raced version

    -2006 copper Lowe's championship die cast(autographed)

    -2007 Lowe's Kobalt Tools

To make this a NASCAR question-who do you believe will be the villain this year? Will Kyle continue that role or will someone else take it over?

  • Who wins the Bud Shootout?

Who is your pick to win the Bud Shootout?

Mine is Joey Logano. He has never raced at Daytona, but the JGR cars always run good there and Joey is a VERY quick learner. If Hamlin could do it in 2006 as a rookie then Joey certainly can ;-)

  • Which NASCAR powerhouse will do better?

The Hendrick Dream Team or the Five Roushketeers??

I believe that Johnson,Martin,Gordon, and Junior will outperform McMurray,Kenseth,Biffle,Edwards, and Ragan as a whole(not saying that all 4 HMS teams will be in front of all 5 Roush teams)

  • Excited,NASCAR Nation??

Well,it seems that the NASCAR season has already started created excitement. We have already had our share of NASCAR adrenaline and we haven't even seen a race from one of the top 3 series yet.

Do you think the Cup Series will be this exciting all season?

  • Logano screwed by NASCAR??

Is anyone else as upset as I am that NASCAR screwed Joey Logano out of a win and relegated him to a 40th-place finish on the Toyota All-Star Showdown last night as I am???

How come those guys(including pronounced winner Kobyluck) can try their best to wreck Joey and get away with it,but as soon as Joey makes a great move to win the race, they take it away from him?

Does anyone else think NASCAR officials are hypocrites?

The only reason that didn't happen when Edwards pulled the slide job on Johnson is because Johnson had enough sense to back out of the gas and let Edwards hit the wall before he made his move.

It's all good. These guys will probably never make it to Cup and they are just mad they Joey is "sliced bread" and they knew the only way they could beat him was to try to wreck him.
