1 AnswerGiải trí & Âm nhạc - Khác7 years agoDoing M.A. and being a parent.?
Before I was doing 2 M.A.s and practicing each twice a week or so.
Now I'm only managing once or twice a month. Both of us work.
How old was your child when you were able to get back into your M.A. (if at all)?

I thought 大気 (Daiki) is a good name but someone said it reminds him of a gas, not "big spirit".
Any ideas?
5 AnswersJapan1 decade agoLeaking radiator... Egg white?
My van has (re)developed a leaking radiator. The radiator reservoir needs topping up every 30km on the highway.
I've heard it said; if I put egg white into the radiator, it blocks the hole.
Have you ever put egg white into a car's radiator?

4 AnswersJapan1 decade agoPermanent Residency: How long is it from submitting to actually getting it?
Maybe there's an official time and an 'in reality' time. But what's your experience or people you know's experience?
So how long can I expect it to take? I'll be using the Kita Yono office in Saitama.
5 AnswersJapan1 decade agoWhy does snowboarding hurt my feet so much?
Especially when facing up hill I put my weight on toes and the muscles attached to my toes (somewhere in the middle of my foot) feel like they're weight lifting. It gets to a point where I have to stop every 50 metres or so to relieve the tension.
Also when facing downhill I can help but steer myself uphill (too far left) so I come to a stop.
I almost/maybe I have, given up on it.
Cold in Japan.
9 AnswersSnowboarding1 decade agoWhy is the Japanese for trash "gomi" always written in katakana when it's not a foreign word?
Lots of things about Japanese confuses me. But no one has ever given me a good reason "why is the Japanese for trash "gomi" always written in katakana when it's not a foreign word?"
6 AnswersJapan1 decade agoPrice of the Japanese Yen.?
Do you think the yen will continue to strengthen or will the G7 warning hold it steady at these strong rates or will it return to the previous levels?
Is the current rate due to non Japanese investors buying into the yen?

3 AnswersInvesting1 decade agoAre all three days of a F1 meeting equally as good?
I have a 3 day ticket for the Japan GP. It's a 2-3 hour drive from my house. It's my first visit to an F1 meeting. On the practice day I think we'll be able to get close to the cars. The big race day is the big event of course. What's good about the qualifying day? Is watching cars go in circles for 3 days is too much?
What do you think?
9 AnswersFormula One1 decade agoNext Japanese Prime Minister?
What do you think about the candidates and will they have more success than Abe and Fukuda?
Yosano (70 years old!!) is ready to talk about rising tax to tackle debts of 150% GDP. He won't go to Yasukuni
Aso (68) wants to spend lots of money and seemingly increase national debt. Smells of nepotism. Vacuous popularist. Speaks good english. Family wealth based on POW labour in WW2.
Ishiba wants to use the Japanese military more so he'll spend all his time fighting his party and the opposition.
Ishihara wants to go to Yasukuni. He's from a Tokyo constituency so he won't spend silly money on countryside construction projects but he has a history with highway construction.
Koike, being a woman, might have the "Koizumi like touch" and, like him, wants to go to Yasukuni. Fluent in Arabic, which is useful nowadays.
Because Yosano is willing to take the economic bull by the horns I think he'll do a good job.
Who's your money on?

3 AnswersGarden & Landscape1 decade agoCan/Does Hydrogen and Oxygen combine to make water without a catalyst?
One friend said she doesn't like to waste water.
Another friend said "You can't waste water because it's indestructible."
I said the only way you can waste water is to separate it into H2 and O2 and release the gases.
"It will turn back into water." said friend 2.
Me: "Not without a catalyst."
Was I right?
4 AnswersChemistry1 decade agoJapanese marked pedestrian crossings. What's the point?
I'm confused about the black and white marked pedestrian crossings (not with signal/traffic lights). In the UK they're called "zebra crossings".
Even if I stand 1 meter into the road at a crossing; the cars don't stop and just swerve around me. Cars don't stop for children outside of schools either.
In the UK the law is "if a pedestrian even has one foot on the crossing then you have to stop and let them cross."
What's the point of them? What's the legal standing/status of them?

11 AnswersJapan1 decade agoSoft tissue injuries (from Aikido)?
On separate occasions I've
had my hand slammed into my knee. (Ikkyo).
took a front fall on my elbow which did something to my rotor cuff (shoulder) (Ikkyo omote)
got my fingers caught in a dogi and bent back pretty good.
With all of these they're slow to recover. I can still feel the injury in my hand (during a 3kyo grip) 7 months later.
So... How long do injuries take to completely get better? My shoulder worries me the most. I used to enjoy swimming butterfly but I can't anymore. :(

So... do you know a place?
1 AnswerJapan1 decade agoWhat is the effect of house prices on inflation.?
In Japan land prices are stable but the actual buildings themselves depreciate to nothing in about 15 years. e.g. A 25m yen new house is worth about 14m yen after 10 years.
My opinion is that; this 'sucking out of money from the economy' has a dramatic effect on the economy and Japan will never have the likes of 4% inflation.
My friend says the performance of the whole economy is what matters and that inflation is possible in Japan.
How big of a impediment is depreciating house stock on inflation?
1 AnswerEconomics1 decade agoRegional dialects versions of "So, desu ne."?
I like using regional phrases to get a laugh.
Can you add any extra to my list?
So, desu ne (standard)
So, da be (old edo)
So, da ra (hamamatsu)
So da pe (Chiba - I think)
So, da piyon (Aomori)
So, da be sa (don't know - but I've heard it)
So, ja ken (Hiroshima)
Anymore anyone?

4 AnswersJapan1 decade agoRoasting pork with honey. It slides off and burns in the bottom of the pan.?
Every time I put honey on roast pork it slides off into the pan, goes black and gives off a bit of smoke. I say it's caramelised but the wife says it's burnt (about the black stuff in the bottom of the pan... the meat's fine apart from some bits at the bottom of the roast, which has the blacken'd honey on it).
It happened again today. I stopped it half way through, scrapped the black stuff off and continued. I cooked one and a half pounds of pork for 25 mins at 240 C then put on some mustard and honey on and then 45 mins at 170 C.
How should I be doing it?
