I love orchids, carnivorous plants, native woodland wildflowers. I have nine cats at home. I love sewing, especially Renaissance costuming. I have way more potential hobbies than I have time to actually do. My goal in life is to be the sweet eccentric cat lady next door, who can usually be found puttering around her garden in a big straw hat... Waitaminute, I think I'm almost there....
Older Tahoe or newer Durango?
My husband needs a utility vehicle for his telecommunications installs. We're looking at an SUV, since a climate-controlled interior is better for sensitive electronics, and he needs to periodically tow a 5000 lb. trailer.
We're looking at a couple options- a 2001 Chevy Tahoe, 150k miles, or a 2005 Durango, 38k miles. The Tahoe is a package deal with the trailer he needs for 10k (trailer by itself would be 2-3k); the Durango is 18k. Because of the age of the Tahoe, the monthly payments would be about the same, just over 36 months instead of a lower interest rate and 72 months on the Durango.
Cheaper is definitely good, but I'm worried about the Tahoe turning into a repair nightmare. It's been dealer-maintained, though. We prefer to keep vehicles as long as possible; reliability is very important.
Considering both budget and longevity, which would be better?
Thanks!

Would it be possible to refit a 1993 Toyota Camry or a 1997 Corolla 4 cylinder into either a gas/electric hybrid or a biodiesel?
Are there any shops in the Virginia area that could do this, and how much might it cost?
Thanks!
5 AnswersOther - Cars & Transportation1 decade agoHow to sew/attach flanged cording?
I'm looking at making corded picadils for my Elizabethan gown- okay, what that means is that I'm going to have 2 "U" shaped pieces of fabric about 3"x4", and a piece of flanged cording, and sew them together along the "U" (leaving the top open for turning), with the cord sticking out of the edge of the seam like piping when it's turned right side out.
I understand the general concept, but was looking for any tips to make it easier to machine-sew...
Thanks!
2 AnswersHobbies & Crafts1 decade agoJust married- credit ?s?
I just got married- I have a lot of credit card debt and a mortgage (perfect on-time more-than-minimum payment history, but high balance/limit ratio), and he has no credit history at all aside from a checking account (no debt).
Will adding him as an authorized user on my CC's improve or hurt either of our scores? Should I see if I can add him to the mortgage? I'm trying to get our scores as high as possible so we can use balance transfer offers to aggressively pay down my debt with less interest.
Thanks!
