  • Algebra - Subtract Fraction with X?

I asked this question yesterday but didn't present it very well. It is a subtraction problem with two seperate fractions.

    7

    ___

    3x+9

    5

    ____

    4x+12

I don't know how else to show it. The first fraction is 7 over 3x+9 then there's a minus sign and the next fraction is 5 over 4x+12. (Please forgive the dots in the equation. It was the only way I could get the problem to space correctly.

    7 ................... 5

    ____ .. _ .. ____

    3x+9 ... ... 4x+12

  • What EXACTLY can I do with an ipad on an airplane?

Been thinking about buying an ipad and now might be the time. Have to go on a work trip with a co-worker and I'm thinking the ipad might keep me occupied enough so I don't have to talk on the long flight. What, exactly, can I do with it on the airplane that's easy for a non-techie? TV, movies, etc. Please explain. Thank you!

  • I need new soccer cleats. Suggestions?

I prefer Adidas. I'm 30, female, with an average to narrow size 6 foot with high arches. My current Adidas cleats are giving me some serious blisters. I've been wearing them for 7 months and the blisters just started within the month. - I wear the same socks, so I don't know why I'm getting blisters now.

Zappos is out of Copa Mudals, but I'm thinking of going back to Copas as I wore them as a kid and they're a good boot. Any suggestions for good online shopping sites for cleats? How are the Adidas Predators?

I can wear women's or kids. I appreciate any input.

  • No More Diet Soda, What to Drink Now? Drink Mixers?

I usually have one can of Diet Coke each day, but I heard ANOTHER story on the news last night about diet soda being bad and confusing the body about sugar and calorie intake. So, I'm done with soda.

I already drink a lot of water, NO coffee and just a little tea every once in a while. So my question is, what are my options? No juice because I don't want the extra calories (I'd rather get the fiber from a whole piece of fruit).

What about Crystal Light or other low calorie drink mixes? What about Lipton Brisk Diet Iced Tea? Do these contain the same ingredients that diet soda contains and should I stay away from these as well?

  • Any MLS fans? Guesses for the upcoming season?

Seems like everyone here likes EPL or Serie A. - I do too, but I really enjoy MLS. Any guesses for top ranks, winners, losers, etc? I like DC United and Red Bulls (I think Dane Richards is great. Awesome speed and really scrappy.).

Who might take the MLS Cup this year? Houston again?

  • Night splints for shin pain & tight calf muscles?

As a soccer player, I have fought shin splints for the last 15 years, however with RICE, they typically go away.....until recently that is. From October - December of 2007, I went for physical therapy which included combinations of ice, heat, massage, ultrasound, stretches, etc. I had some relief for about a month or two, but now the last few months have been agony! No amount of taping, stretching or Aleeve is working.

I only get shin splints when playing soccer. I typically don't like running (except for soccer) so I walk, bike and use an elliptical or tread climber for exercise. My calves are almost always tight and I have short heel cords. Since I've tried all the basics, I'm wondering if anyone has had success with night splints (usually used for plantars fascitis) to treat tight calves. I think if I can correct my tight calves, I may be able to decrease my shin pain. Any advice is welcome.

Also, I have orthodics from a podiatrist and I get massages often.
