Struck down in the prime of life, you might say, when I became disabled in 1986, at age 35, from a brain tumor. Having just completed my master's degree with a rising career in government service, and a family to support, I was unable to resume my career. I spent the next fifteen years doing odd jobs like washing dishes, cleaning houses, and recycling cans to make ends meet until I was approved for SSDI three years ago. Those were difficult years, but they taught me to simplify my life, to "free myself from the rat race", to become an advocate for the disabled, and to appreciate each day I am given by God. Now, I watch my 1 year old granddaughter thriving with my love & care while my daughter works and I enjoy things I never had time for like internet, reading, and hobbies. I started on this site by my daughter's suggestion and I am hooked. I learn so much from the community and I try to give back from my knowledge as well. Please contact me for approval before adding me. Thank you
