  • what was the yogurt that wasn't sour? It was somewhat popular in the 80s/90s.?

I remember eating it because it wasn't sour like ordinary yogurt. Knowing now how yogurt is made I wonder how they took the tartness out of it, or whether it was even food?

  • What was the clicking noise I heard at the beach when it started raining?

I was at the Outer banks in North Carolina and while we were at the beach it started to rain. As it started raining we started hearing "clicking" noises. Almost like bubbles-bursting sounds. It wasn't just one or two, it was like hundreds of them going off in chorus. I found this incredibly curious but I couldn't figure out where it was coming from except that it was definitely coming from the sand.

Any marine biologists or beach bums out there know what I'm talking about?

  • Electrical Engineers: Thermocouples through an EM-Induction coil.?

I'm trying to see if I can read temperatures of a metal piece through induction coils. Induction coils generate an EM field that heats up the metal. Coincidentally this electrifies the metal as well. I'm concerned about the thermocouples. If I have thermocouples inside a steel pipe and I run it through an induction coil heater will the thermocouple survive? Will it give me useful data? I'm thinking it will either electrocute anything that it's connected to, or it will simply spike up because it will read the voltage created by the EM field and not from the heated part.

  • Is the red dot scope from tiberius arms any good?

I'm looking at getting the Tiberius Arms 9.1. The price difference between the Elite and the next level down is $80. The only difference is the Elite has a Red-dot scope. Has anyone tried this? Heard any reviews?

  • Paintball Marker - Ego 06 for $275?

What do you guys think? I know Egos are good in general, but I don't know specifics of that line. Which years were good which weren't so good. Any comments? Would you buy it and how fast?

  • Swordsmen: Which is better? Single sword or two swords?

I've seen lots of styles of swordplay from historical references. One style which intrigues me is two-handed with long rapier and shorter dagger. Is this a superior form of fighting in personal one-on-one combat? I'm not so concerned with large-scale battles as this kind of fighting is obsolete for modern warfare. But in terms of personal combat is this more effective than single blade?

Any fencers or other swordsmen want to take a "stab" (How drole!) at this?

  • How much warm up is enough?

I may sound like I'm impatient but hear me out please. My whole workout consists of weight training: Bench Press, Lat Pull downs, Pec Flies, and crunches. Then I do intervals on a treadmill: 6mph/75secs - 8mph/45secs.

Is the weight training enough of a warm up? Or should I just go another 3 minutes or so at a jog to start?

  • Should I keep Chad Johnson?

Alright he's a good receiver. But he's been playing like a moron on arguably one of the best pass offenses in the league. I don't want to drop him but I would like to see him catch a pass one of these days! Is this just a case of him needing to get off the Saturday night hangovers or is he damaged goods?

  • Good paintball places in Ohio?

I'll be moving to Canton/Akron area in Ohio. Any Ohio paintballers out there? Any good places to play? Shop? Most importantly, where can I get good paint? Here in Houston I can get a box of Evil at the Command Post for $50. Anything like that up there?

    Not gonna kick the habit!

  • Have they done Civil War re-enactments with pump-paintball guns?

It crossed my mind a while ago and it sounds cool. Just think of a wall of paintballs coming at you while you're shoulder to shoulder in geometric warfare!

  • Does adding Techron to my gas tank help clean my spark plugs?

I've heard that you should tune up your car at 60,000 miles. Well, my Toyota Corolla is at 150,000 with no problems before, but now I'm starting to notice a small stutter when I'm getting in gear from a full stop. I thus thought about getting a tune up. I bought it certified used at 27,000.

My co-workers told me it's a bad idea because you're running the risk of galling the threads and ruining the aluminum engine. They suggested instead to use some Chevron-Techron additive to a gas tank and then fill up with Chevron Premium. In other words try to clean them off if I'm feeling a stutter first.

What do you guys think? I'm gonna take it in for a diagnostic anyways, but some advice would help me to at least avoid unnecessary/harmful repairs.

    Thanks in advance.

  • Invert Mini doesn't fire after it's turned on?

I noticed this about one of my Mini's. I attach the gas, I turn it on, I turn on the hopper. I shake it to make sure it's got a ball loaded. But then when I actually pull the trigger I have to pull it a few times to get it to shoot. After it shoots the first ball it's okay and shoots fine until I turn it off again.

I noticed that the ASA was showing less than 200 psi. Could this be the problem?

  • Invert Mini isn't shooting a consistent FPS?

I chrono'd my Mini and noticed the FPS was all over the place. As high as 290 and dropping as low as 270. It used to be much tighter than that. Any ideas guys?

  • What's the standard method for determining firearm accuracy/precision?

I imagine it would be related to the radius of the grouping at a given range. Is it better to hold it by hand or is it better to use say a gun vise when trying to determine the true accuracy/precision of the gun?

  • How do I cultivate yeast?

My local brew shop has some good yeast for brewing and wine making. The problem is that they don't always have what I want in stock.

If I were to get some of that yeast, is there a way I can cultivate it, grow it, store it, and then use it when I need it? Can you ever add too much yeast to a brew?

This would also be good exercise for a doomsday scenario! How to cultivate yeast and make alcohol when the world around us has gone to crap.

I'm interested in stargazing as a new hobby. I have a flexible budget but I don't want to get too crazy. Anybody have a recommendation on good telescopes and/or what I should be looking for when I buy one.

  • Recently getting "Tired Legs". Never experienced this before.?

I've been a runner off and on since I was 14. I'm now 32 and getting back into it. 5'10" 215 lbs. I experienced something strange the last month or so and I think it's because of a change in my stride. My legs start tiring out after about 1 mile or so. This has NEVER happened before. I think it's because I changed from striking on the heel to more towards the middle of my foot. I'm running taller and straighter.

I can last the whole 3 mile run, but it's a chore to keep up. Afterwards I'm not sore, in fact I ran yesterday and experienced the heavy-tired legs but now my legs feel fine. Could this be totally because of the way I'm running?

  • Can you recommend a good barrel?

My brother in law has an autococker. I think getting him a barrel is the best thing to do. It isn't too complicated and it isn't too expensive. Which would you recommend though?:

    J&J ceramic

    Lapco Bigshot

    Furious Paintball Lotus

    or Stiffi

All barrels are 14 inches. What's your vote?

  • What are good Autococker upgrades and how much are they?

I'm gonna be Secret Santa for my brother in law. He's a great paintballer. Anyways, he runs an AutoCocker on Single shot semi. What kind of upgrades do you recommend? I don't know what he has, but I bet most everything is stock. He married my sister about 7 or so years ago so he stopped playing about then. I bet he hasn't upgraded to the E-cocker yet. Anyways, any upgrades that you might recommend? Thinking about $50 limit.
