  • Regarding the plug in at the end of a strand of Christmas lights, hung outside.?

Should I buy some of those plastic cover/plugs? Can moisture cause a problem, in the strand or cause an electrical problem for the house, if the plug in is left open?

  • I have an IPad that I think might have a virus and I don't know how to fix it. Any advice is appreciated.?

I know how to take care of window's viruses. This is my first experience with Mac, Apple. Can I run the same anti virus programs? I've been use to downloading AVG or Avast, but neither one says anything about Mac products. If possible, I would like to find a free iPad antivirus download.

  • Flighted Blue Headed Pionus Parrot.?

I normally keep him clipped. But for the last 2 or 3 months he has been flighted and I love him flying to me to hang out or watching him fly around the house and back to his cage. Should I clip his wings and if so why? Does anyone else have a flighted bird and do they have a problem with keeping it flighted?

  • Natal teeth and the mothers teeth.?

There is a woman who looks like she has "Meth Mouth," telling me that the reason her mouth looks so bad is that she had two natal babies and they depleted her body and ruined her teeth. Anyone ever heard of this happening?

  • Arowana behavior, Osteoglossum bicirrhosis?

I have a 75 gallon tank, (for now,) which houses 4 rather long fish.

There is a 9 or 10 inch arowana, Osteoglossum bicirrhosis, a 12 inch Rope Fish aka: Erpetoichthys calabaricus and a 6 or 7 inch Bicher aka: Polypterus senegalus and a 6 or 7 inch Marble Goby, aka: Oxyeleotris marmorata

They all seem to be getting along okay. Until recently when we noticed the aro spending more time on the bottom and trying to hide from us more often. This is new, as he was always at the top wating for food.

Aro's appetite still seems to be good. They are fed large crickets and rosey redds. I usually put a few shrimp pellets in the tank for the ones that like to eat off of the substrate.

A week ago I did have to remove my electric yellow cichlid as he was reaching maturity and ripping aros scales off of him. I also thought he might be the cause of aro staying or spending more time down low.

But he is still hanging out down low..

Does anyone know anything about these guys. Do I need to move some of them, is this normal behavior for an arowana?

  • Abdominal Abcess help.?

In 1984 I had umbilical hernia surgery. 1 week later an abcess formed it was gangreen(sp?) it rupt. I went to ER and they took me into sugery and cleaned it and packed it from inside.

Well last night it ruptured again.

Can I just keep it clean and pack it with neosporin, then keep it covered? It is seeping yellowish/brown fluid.

Does a doctor need to see it or can I take care of it on my own and if so what should I use and how often?

  • Sharing Privileged Info With A Friend At Work...?

My question involves labor and employment law for the state of MO.

My husband has had to use a lot of FMLA time in the past 6 months. I have a family member who is friends with one of his coworkers. This co worker is actually a few levels above him and is sharing personsl info with regard to his FMLA time off and sensitive info about doing an investigation on him to try and remove him from his position. My family member is telling me what they are being told, but not necessarily to help my husband.

  • It looks like a WHITE GHOST SHRIMP?

With a black tail and black facial features, it also has a single black band around each segment of it's body, what is it?

I can't find anything similar to it. At first I thought it was sick ghost shrimp. But they aren't sick, they are thriving.

  • Pterophyllum scalare, what other fish can live safely with it?

I bought 4 veil fin angels about a month or more ago. I added two large thick lipped Gourami and one Violet Goby to their tank which is a 55 gallon brackish set up.

Since then and about a week ago two of the Angels died and with no apparent cause. Reading up on them we discovered that they pair off at around 9 months of age and will sometimes kill off their tank mates. Not really sure of the validity of this?

Because of the loss of the two Angels I decided to move the Gouramis to another 55 gallon brackish tank and they are no longer hiding as they were with the Angels.

The Violet Goby is still with them and is also in constant hiding. I fear he will starve to death as the Angels are always hanging out where he is hiding. I plan to remove him from the tank as well.

The Angels seem to be thriving, but I am wondering if there are any fish that I can put in with them?

    Thanks in advance.

  • How do you keep their nails from piercing and scratching?

I loath clipping my birds toenails. Smaller birds are so tiny and bigger birds have bigger beaks, lol.

Seriously though, any tips on tipping those nails? I have to towel my smaller birds and I file my Grey's.

    How do you do it?

  • To clip...or not to clip, can your birds fly?

I have come full circle, from preaching the keep them wings clipped to allowing them to be a real bird that can, (safely,) fly.

I clipped my Grey's wings before she completely fledged and now she lacks confidence and can't fly at all.

I would like to see others opinions.

    Please keep it friendly.

I have been on both sides of this issue and have decided it needs to be a case by case decision and not one answer fits all.

  • Anyone here have Mini Dachshunds and can't get them potty trained?

I have two, a brother and sister that are 1.5 years old and still not house trained. I love having dogs all over the house and on the sofa, or in bed at night with us. But these two have to be kept in our kitchen, except when we force them outside to go potty. They seem to be marking territory even though they were neutered at 4 or 5 months of age.

We need some good advice please.

  • Do you believe dogs should be chained up outside?

Dogs chained up outside are actually trapped and unable to escape an attack, once the attacker makes it inside their circle or length of chain.

  • Do you believe dogs that bite can be rehabilitated?

There are 3 types of biters; Fear, Aggression and Herding breeds.

Fear biters tend to attack when backed into a corner, or they stand and watch you, usually but not always growling to warn you, waiting until you turn your back to them and come up at you from behind. They generally bite below the waist.

Aggressive dogs are those that go for the face, they generally bite anywhere above the waist. These dogs consider direct eye contact as a definate challenge and act accorfingly.

Herding dogs get tagged as biters many times when they really are just doing their jobs. They tend to be ankle biters/nippers.

I have become more aware of the surplus of pet parrots, especially cockatiels and love birds. Should we place restrictions on breeding them?

  • Do you believe Pit Bulls are still used for fighting?

I think that there is a correlation between dogs trained for fighting, and attacks on humans or other animals. Dogs used for fighting are desensitized to attacking and harming other animals, including weaker humans. Once they get that taste of blood they want more.

What are your thoughts on this subject?
