  • Computer having trouble saving and downloading files?

I am finding myself frequently unable to update, download, and save files and programs. I often get errors concerning the corruption of paths or error messages such as "unable to update" or "download error" Certain programs have also been unable to create temporary files at times.

I'm concerned that my hard drive may be dying. Is there anything else that could be causing this issue?

  • Computer shuts off on startup?

My computer just refuses to stay on for any amount of time. It started when I got home this afternoon. I took it out of sleep mode, which I leave it in whenever I don't use it. It worked for a minute or two, then shut off randomly. I thought it was no big deal, so I turned it back on. It began booting, but then shut off. I tried to get it to work many times, but to no avail. I opened the boot menu, which it stayed on for a while, but shut off after a few minutes on that too. It tries to do a startup repair when booting, but will usually shut off with this too. I'm not sure if I should call it a problem with the hard drive, because as mentioned before, it shuts off when on the boot menu and when attempting a system restore.

I took off the water block on the processor and put it back on, as I thought it might be a cooling issue. This didn't help. I also tried unplugging and plugging back in the power cables on the hard drive.

I've also noticed that the water cooler's fan works much harder than usual when starting.

Anyone know what might be wrongn?

    Thanks in advance.

  • Is my computer breaking microphones?

I have gone through two microphones in the last two months, and I am beginning to think my computer may be the culprit.

The first microphone: It was on a headset and the microphone just stopped working. The headphones still work fine, but the microphone doesn't work.

The second microphone: It was a small clip-on mic that lasted for about 5 days before it broke too. I found it in my desk so I don't know what condition it was in.

Is it possible that my PC is doing this? The first mic lasted a lot longer. Could I just be poorly managing the cables?

Would a USB mic be a better option?

Can I use this compressed air on the inner components of my PC?

It sounds as if there is some liquid in here, and I was wondering if I can use this compressed air on the INNER COMPONENTS of my computer. Does any moisture come out of this during operation?

  • Is the TL-WDR4300 compatible with all modems?

We are switching to xfinity, which has been a complete disaster. They told us we need a router for the new modem we got, and I was wondering if the TL-WDR4300 router is compatible with all routers.

  • Sound from some operations, but not from video games or internet.?

I just got a new pair of headphones, which have been working very well. Something went wrong just now. I couldn't hear any sound when trying to play a game, so I tried fixing it, but just ended up resetting. I heard the skype startup sound, which was a good sign.

I then tried playing a few games and watching a youtube video, but no sound came from those. Does anyone know what might be wrong?

  • Can I jump between two hard drives on one PC?

I have an old hard drive on one of my PCs, and I wanted to put it in my new one so it would run better and I could use the information on it.

If I put the old hard drive in my new computer (which already has its own hard drive, windows 8, the other having windows 7,) would I be able to switch between the two at will?

Is it safe to use a cord from a 600W PSU on a 1000W PSU?

I recently took my PC to a hotel for use, but upon returning I realized that I had left the cord for my PSU behind. I am working with a 1000W PSU, but the only other available cord I have is from a 600W PSU that I replaced. Is it safe to use this cord, as it is meant for a weaker PSU?

  • Is this temperature range normal for my R9 and 9370?

I just installed a new CPU cooler on my PC, and I have an R9 200 series GPU and an FX-9370 processor. It is still running 50-61C when playing games. Is this a normal temperature range for this combination? It s definitely an improvement from the 80C it was running before.

  • Is it safe to decrease the MHz level of my CPU?

Ever since I changed my power supply from a 600w generic to a rosewill 1000W (which is what had been recommended by many people) my PC has been overheating. I was going to take it in for diagnostics, but I had one more thing in mind. I thought that maybe with the old PSU my PC just couldn't run the 4.4 GHz in which it is supposed to, and now it actually is. With that factor, the cooling can no longer support the heat it produces (just a theory). Could I cause any potential harm to my PC by decreasing the CPU's MHz level?

I just installed a new power supply on my PC, and it has been running a bit slower than usual. Is this normal for new hardware?

  • Trying to figure out between two problems?

I've narrowed this down to two possibilities. Here is my problem

My PC has been having some issues (cyberpowerpc) with the following.

Random Freezes (especially when playing high powered games) that require resets. Unable to turn on at times (requires me to unplug and plug back in), random shutoffs.

This is either an issue with my PSU (that's the assumption I'm on) or my hard drive. I'm pretty sure it is the PSU because of the random shutoffs and inability to turn on, but I just want to make sure.
