  • Hi all. I need some advice on martial arts for someone with arthritis.?

Sometime this year (after I've got a little fitter) I'd like to start a class in something for fitness and self defence. Problem is I have epilepsy and arthritis. The epilepsy is ok, I have meds for it and haven't had a seizure for many yrs and probably won't again (though being beat in the head much won't help) The arthritis though is bad. It's in my lower back but because I have to favour one side or other I always have pretty major muscle strains. It hurts all the time and slows me down even though I'm on a variety of drowsy meds for it (including opiate patches) but I'm willing to try. Getting in better shape would probably help in the long term and I'm about to have a course of physio. Any ideas or advice?

    Thanks.

  • For the arthritis sufferers out there: Where is the most painful place (bone or joint) to have arthritis?

I have it in the sacro-iliac joint and it is hellishly painful. As I am not a member of a sufferers group or anything my knowledge of this affliction is next to nothing and I wonder where I stand (of course, when it's really bad I can't stand at all, lol)
