  • In your opinion, who is the best ambassador for Australian Rules Footy?

If you could choose one player who could go on sports shows, Letterman, Oprah, Richard and Judy, Parkinson, whatever, all over the world, and represent our game as a great pastime for many people and an athletic career for the best, who would you choose?

The person would have to be an all-round player, personable manner, able to express himself fluently and convey his passion for AFL. It would help if both men and women found him easy to listen to and watch!

Nominations for best from your club, and best overall please.

  • Conflicting uniforms?

Given the large number of teams whose uniforms are confusing - would it be a good idea for each club to discuss with each other club which of their options is least likely to confuse the other, then lock it in on the AFL website as agreed detail?

For example: Collingwood playing Essendon - Collingwood wearing white guernseys with black stripes and white shorts, like last night - Essendon wearing standard guernsey and red shorts and sox?

  • Is that all for Barry Hall?

watching the swannies and the pies tonight, I counted five incidents involving Barry Hall. None serious, but that wasn't thanx to Barry.

This man is supposed to have been guided into mature behaviour after two earlier incidents that could have been very serious.

What do the rest of you think - is this Barry's third strike?

Should the Swans just drop his contract, or should they do the Collingwood thing and suspend him themselves until 2009?

  • Dirty doings at the diggings?

With the pressure from Tasmania's government to award an AFL licence to Tasmania, is this a possible scenario?

Dandy Andy will accept applications from Tasmania and the ACT or the Riverina, and force the next clubs that ask for financial help to transfer there.

Odds-on for Tasmania: Richmond(Hawks will refuse as Kangas did).

  • Should there be a fixed penalty for misbehaviour ending in injury?

where a player has an injury which needs medical attention, caused by negligence or aggression, should the player causing it have a fixed penalty?

I would base this on how many weeks the hurt player is out of selection, by two. So Cameron Ling is out for four, say the doctors, Solomon got eight, and that's fair.

The Freo player who pretty near killed James Hird a few years back got a very light penalty.

Sometimes people are hurt due to bad luck - I would put the Fevola/Slattery collision in that category and would not ask for a penalty for Fev, and neither would the tribunal.

I'm sure you can all think of other examples.

  • How ABOUT the Bombers?

Played as a team for the first time this season and reaped the benefits. David Hille is a legend and the small guys were faster than bin Ladin with the Yanks on his tail.

Can they go on and win the next two?

  • Kerr stung by stingray?

Daniel Kerr of the WCE was stung by a stingray at St Kilda during their recovery sessions this morning.

    Two questions.

Was it Stephen Milne in a bat cape?

What is the medical condition of the stingray?

  • who else is p'd off at the Ch 7 commentators Ess vs Carl?

During the third quarter, Carlton started to overtake Essendon and McAvaney in particular could not contain himself - not that he does so easily at any time - and he was DROOLING about the Carlton comeback.Fortunately they disappointed him - but commentators are supposed to be objective and analytical.

Who else was thoroughly annoyed by his biased ravings?

  • on present performance, is Gary Ablett junior equal to or better than Chris Judd?

The Roo opinion is that he is at least the equal of Judd.

I think he may be better - maybe partly because he doesn't have as much belief in his own legend as Mr Judd. But it's certainly a tough call.

In order to measure objectivity, please put your team allegiance on the bottom of your views, which are invited!

  • Robert Walls - an unbiased commentator?

Watching the Anzac Day match, and I don't know what Essendon were doing, except playing football wasn't in the mix.

Congratulations to Collingwood for winning and to the Anzac medallist.

I was annoyed by Robert Walls' incessant bagging of Essendon on Channel 10. We know he dislikes Essendon, and it is fairly clear why, but the role of a commentator is to give objective assessment and maybe a little wit and encouragement(thank you Mr Cometti!) not to run down a team to an audience of millions.

How about combining Luke Darcy - also something to watch! - with Huddo(if we must, he's boring).

My choice would be David Schwartz. Smart, funny, an ex player and also watchable.

Or who else would you like to see replace old f**t Walls?

  • who is the BEST and FAIREST current player?

getting a bit sick of the current emphasis on subhuman and destructive behaviour among footballers.

As it stands now, if the Brownlow were to be awarded tonight, for whom would you vote within your own team, and who in any of the other teams would get your vote? Best AND fairest on and off field.

My nominees are Gus Monfries of the Bombers, and Brad Johnson of the Dogs.

  • The Saints after one shocker.....?

Dear posters: there seems to be a lot of media bagging of St Kilda after Friday's match. What do we think? Is St Kilda full of its own publicity or is it the excellent team that have played until last week?

BTW another shocker on Friday night was the usually consistent and clever Bulldog Brad Johnson, who played like a mutt, but nobody seems to have bagged him.

Surely everyone's entitled to one bad game before the knives come out?

  • What was Carey's motivation, do you think?

Poster Jemima has suggested that a question be asked about whether Carey wants to get back with his wife, hence the Denton interview. That's one suggestion. What else do viewers think made him do what was a very gruelling and intrusive interview?

Denton, who showed little mercy, said no money was involved, and I believe HIM - so why did Carey do it?

  • do we nominate Liberatore for the most gutless worm ever?

this man has gone on national TV to say that the Blues tanked their last season to get the best draft pick. When picked up by the AFL for his words, he denied the lot.

Given that he has spent time recently bagging the Bulldogs, once again to back down when challenged -

Given that he has a history of taunting better footballers then retreating behind the umpire's skirts when retaliated against -

I reckon he's had his three strikes and he should be nominated as AFL Wonder Wuss - AWW for short.

  • how would the 16th century have been different in England?

if Henry VIII had married Mary Boleyn, instead of Anne. Boleyn, and Mary's son Henry had become the monarch?

We would not have had Queen Elizabeth 1 as Henry had children who outlived him.

How would they have coped with the religious wars, the Spanish Armada, and the puritan push versus the Anglo Catholics?

  • set the draft pick bar a little earlier?

The present draft pick rights for lowest teams are a good idea in theory but there's plenty of evidence that some teams do throw games to benefit in the draft.

To make it beyond question which teams do this, how about the AFL lowest teams at the mark where each team has played each team, ie 15 games, have the first round of draft picks, to the bottom EIGHT at this point. No trades, no selloffs etc allowed. That way, no point in tanking games in the last seven weeks and everyone would try harder.

That way we would see how horrible certain teams are, without them getting a halo for trying hard to get a draft pick.

  • why is Andy so adamant?

why is Andrew Demetriou so insistent that Cousins should be back playing football this year?

the lad is not confident himself that he is recovered.

would Andy D be so insistent if it were a Victorian player?

do we need half hearted and half healthy AFL players?

  • Robert Harvey?

What do commentators think of Robert Harvey saddling up for a 21st season when he is rising 37 years old?

Is the game too fast for anyone over about 35 these days?

Is Robert Harvey a brilliant exception to this rule?

Who in the RECENT past has played really well after 30?

  • Do the Roos have the power to choose?

The Kangaroos have asserted their right to be North Melbourne in the press. Given that they continue to be a club with a small number of members, and their "territory" is not an area that warrants a lot of AFL development, it's likely that the AFL will have to prop them up if they stay in Victoria.

So what do you supporters of all clubs think?

And if the Roos don't move, which of the Victorian clubs must, to keep the comp viable? And to where? I think we can support 8 clubs at most in Victoria, your views invited.
