  • Older house, new door frames?

I've done some remodeling in my place which included replacing all the doors. Unfortunately the house is old enough to have ACTUAL 1/2" drywall over 2x4 framing and if the door frame is squared up to one side or the other leaves a 1/4" difference between the width of the wall and the width of the door frame. A thought is to rabbet out the moulding so it will sit flat on the wall or to bevel down the drywall to the door frame. Anyone have any other suggestions? I'm going to start this project next week.

  • Name that poem!?

My dad was asking me the other day about a poem he read years ago, wanted me to find out what it was called and who wrote it. I'm thinking it's an English guy, seems kind of light weight so I wouldn't think Donne or Blake or one of those but I think the same era. First lines go like this:

I dreamed a dream the other night,

I saw my love all dressed in white.

All dressed in white like some fair bride,

She came to me at my bedside.

That's all he remembers. Can anyone help? Web search isn't producing so far.

  • Thinning the veggies?

So some of my veggies survived our cold snaps and March and April snow, mostly the spinach and peas, there may be radishes. I can't really find any info on when I'm supposed to thin them out. Should they be a particular height, a matter of weeks? Can I replant the ones I pull out or are they a waste now? Do I need to be more concerned about the root veggies like carrots and radishes when thinning vs the leaf veggies?

  • I started planting and now a cold snap?

I'm here in western Washington north of Seattle. I started seeding my veggie garden almost 2 weeks ago, it was gorgeous and 50s, (mid March is a good date here for cold crops) and now we're having a cold snap, though not heavy frost I've had to scrape my car twice in a week . So now what? Do I start from scratch or wait and see?

  • Gym membership?

Long story short. My gym closed and another gym bought out all the contracts. I was unaware that it was a forgone conclusion that I had a membership at the new gym though they said I should have been notified by gym 1. I joined another and thought nothing of it til I got a bill from gym 2 saying I owed them money. Do I have any recourse?

  • Anyone eat freshwater eel?

I have a friend in NZ that was given a few pounds of freshwater eel (straight out of the river!) and was asking if I knew how to prepare it. I have a couple of ideas however does anyone got any favorites? I realize that most Americans don't eat eel outside of sushi but...
