  • Language censorship is stupid, agree?

So yesterday I was watching a movie called "The Cell" on USA and I realized how stupid language censorship is. In the movie, they bleeped out words like "****" and "****" yet the graphic content of the movie was FAR more disturbing. In this country, why is it socially acceptable to show a man getting his intestines pulled out of his stomach yet they can't swear on TV? It makes absolutely no SENSE!! If you're trying to protect your kids from "bad language", why wouldn't you also try and protect them from seeing things like people being tortured and crushed to death?

  • will you be getting the ipod touch?

I'm planning on selling my 5G iPod 30gb vid for $150 on craigslist, and probably gonna buy the iPod touch 8gb.. The wifi is what locked me in especially because wifi is gonna continue to expand in the public sphere in the next few years. I think 8 gigs is a decent size because I plan on putting only my most favorite albums and songs on there.. What do you think about the Ipod touch and does my plan sound reasonable?

  • question about a loan for college?

    Thanks in advance.

So I no longer have need for one of my loans because I've gotten a scholarship. Is it possible to cancel a loan or perhaps pay it back in full right away, so i don't have to worry about interest rates?

  • Check out my soon-to-be rig's specs, what do you think?

Hello and thanks for your help in advance. My current rig which I may be able to sell for $800

    AMD Athlon X2 5200+

    Gigabyte M55SLI-S4 Mobo

    2GB ampX DDR2 800 RAM

    geforce 7950GT

If I can sell my current one, I will be getting:

Intel Core 2 Duo E6550 (new 1333 fsb speed)

    Gigabyte P35-DS3R mobo

    2GB Crucial Ballistix DDR2 800

    EVGA 8800GTX (OOOOOOOO BABY)

so my question is do you think I should wait a little bit and get tommorow's technology i.e. is there anything worth waiting for within the next month or two like price drops/introduction of new stuff? Thanks a lot

  • iPhone battery life is going to suck, any objections?

I bought an LG VX8700 from Verizon just yesterday and on a full charge, the battery can last only a day with EVDO enabled (and with barely any talktime used). The iPhone is going to have all the perks of my phone and it will have WiFi access. Needless to say, the battery isn't going to last a long time. I thought the iPhone was a cool concept, but just pointless since you can get a better voice phone, a better MP3 player, a better camera for the price you pay for an iPhone.

  • Is there any reason for me as a gamer to upgrade to Vista besides DX10?

I've used Vista Ultimate but put XP Pro back on my PC after I kept getting BSOD's trying to boot into Windows... Is there any reason for gamers to get Vista other than DX 10?

  • I need a great CD/DVD image creating software, recommendations?

I can't play Call of Duty 2 anymore because my discs are all stained/scratched. From now on, I want to copy all my discs as images and save them to an external hard drive. Do you know of any great CD/DVD burning software that can override copy protection on those discs?

  • New motherboard, but system still hangs in BIOS!?

Could a failing/dying power supply be the cause of not being able to boot properly/ a computer freezing in the BIOS menus?

Memory seems fine, CPU fine, motherboard is BRAND new so I highly doubt that's the problem, the hard drive isn't even connected, the DVD drive is probably not the problem... only leaves the PSU !

  • Computer freezes in BIOS menu. what is wrong?

OK this is driving me nuts! I can't figure out what is wrong with my computer. I was playing a game one day and then all of a sudden, system shuts off. I reboot and Windows freezes. I try going into the BIOS settings and the computer freezes in the BIOS menu also. I've taken out and pushed back in the CMOS battery. Weird thing is the computer will work for like 3 minutes just fine and then it'll freeze. I don't think it's the memory because it does the same thing when one is taken out, and also when the other stick is taken out. I've disconnected the DVD drive and the Hard Drive... Same problem. Motherboard status light is green, which means it's fine and I don't believe the Mobo is the problem. Could this mean that it's my power supply???

  • Who will be on the cutting edge of processor technology in 3 years? Intel or AMD?

Right now, AMD is hurting badly and Intel has been dominating the consumer market with the mighty Core 2 Duo. Will AMD's Phenom enable the company to bounce back?

  • Predictions for AMD vs. Intel?

Ok, it's clearly been established that Intel has pulled way ahead of AMD in terms of creating the better processor with the Core 2 Duo and Intel is cutting prices extremely low when Q3 hits for their Q6600 Quad Core! Do you think AMD can bounce back with the K10 architecture and if so, who do you think will be the top CPU company for GAMING next year?

  • Leet computer geeks, Assemble!!! Need help from you guys?

Ok, bad news: I fried my CPU (AthlonX2 5200+) or Mobo (Asus M2N-SLI Deluxe) or BOTH :(

Good news: I have enough money to buy some new computer parts and I'm eyeing the Core 2 Duo E6420 (gonna overclock that baby for sure) and a Gigabyte P35-DS3P motherboard..

I do have my old computer to use for basic stuff like internet access and whatever, but I want to fix up my gaming rig this Summer.

What you think? You think I should wait until July 22 when Intel is cutting prices on the Q6600 and introducing the new 45nm CPUs OR should I just go for the E6420 and then upgrade later on? FYI, the mobo will be futureproof for DDR3 memory and the newest Intel CPUs that are coming out later. Please respond

  • Is my CPU dead?

Does this sound like my CPU is dead? I can see POST just fine, I boot into Windows- fine, and then my computer just hangs! The screen just freezes and the only thing I can do is hold the power button until my computer shuts off. Quickest and most concise answer will have 10 pts!

    A little more detail:

    CPU: AMD Athlon X2 5200+

    Motherboard: Asus M2N-SLI Deluxe

  • Do I have some kind of mental problem?

I tend to be a pretty quiet person usually unless there is some real nagging issue to talk to someone about or there is room for a good conversation. I just HATE small talk and those little conversations that have little or no meaning. Lately, I have just stopped talking to people and have become kind of anti-social. I get really sick of people even though they aren't doing anything to annoy me. I can't really explain how I feel but it's almost like a passive hatred for everyone. I have become very desensitized also and am generally very apathetic and unemotional. Is it depression? How do I get over this, any ideas?
