10 gallon tank, filtered and heated.

I'm thinking I might get some red ear sliders for a pet, because my dad used to LOVE them, and had many, so I thought it would be cool for him. I want to make it a surprise, so I don't want to ask him what to get for the turtles. Here are my questions.

What sized tank?

Should it be a half land half water tank?

I have a filter that can be used for reptile tanks, is that necessary?

What is their temperature range?

What kind of food?

Any other information is appreciated :)

I only have one tank, so I can't transfer my betta. All I have is a 1 gallon bowl/tank thing. The tank with the broken filter is 10 gallons. Help! I do have money to get a filter, I'm just confused on what to do ATM. Help!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was just thinking, if I were to take a trip to Thailand, and I went to a rice paddy, could I find a betta fish in it?

I have an aqua blue male betta, in a 10 gallon tank, filtered and heated. Lately, when I put the mirror in front of him (like I do once or twice a week) he gets like really pale. Like peachy colored, and he won't flare! He just sits there, starting at himself in the mirror. Sometimes it looks like he has a stripe going through the middle of his body. HELP! Is there something wrong with him? Why is that happening?

I'm just interested, because I've been a Mac pretty much my whole life. I don't understand why someone could like a PC better. I like Macs because they are simple and don't crash as often. They are also very pretty. ;) What's your opinion?

I want to re decorate it because a lot of the fake plants got all messed up from me carelessly pouring water into the tank... :S I have 1 betta in it right now, and I want to get it fixed up before I get 2 African dwarf frogs. How can I do this without stressing the betta out?

For example, "BETA FISH CANT LIVE WITH OTHER FISH THEY WILL KILL IT! DUUUUHHHH" . They obviously have no business answering fish questions if they have no idea how to care for one. They've obviously never done any research, and all they know is from word of mouth. They could at least only answer ones that they are absolutely sure of. What are your opinions on this?

I have a betta and 3 danios in a heated, filtered tank (10 gallons) and one of the danios is nipping the fins of the betta! I put the betta in a smaller tank, but I don't know what to do. I know I need to get more danios, could this be the reason the danio is nipping the betta's fins? I haven't had luck with any fish with my bettas, not even platies. I really want to have some type of fish with the betta... please help! Also, my parents are getting frustrated with ME because they have to keep taking me back to PetCo. What should I do to "calm them down" a bit?

My friend has been keeping 2 male bettas together in a 10 gallon tank together for 2 years now... how is this possible?

I have a school of zebra danios with my betta, and a couple of times it looked like one of the was nipping the bettas fins, and the betta would speed away and hide behind a plant. Why is it doing that? Is there anything I can do about it?

I have a 10 gallon tank, heated and filtered, and I just can't seem to get it clean! I have a betta and 2 platies, and I've cleaned the tank twice in the past 2 weeks, siphoning off 4 gallons, and I can't get it clean! When I'm siphoning, allllll this gross stuff goes up the tube. But then when I'm done, there's stilll LOADS of stuff floating in the water! I don't overfeed. Why is it like that? How can I get it clean? Any other tips are appreciated. :)

I added 2 platies to my 10 gallon, heated filtered tan, with 1 male betta. He has been picking on them a lot. If they come close to him, he gets crazy and starts chasing them and flaring. Is this normal? Are they just not used to each other yet or what? Should I take the platies back?

I have 1 betta in a 10 gallon tank, heated and filtered. His fins have just started growing back from fin rot. In the past few days, he has been really inactive. His stomach area is REALLY pale too. Like, almost white. He just hangs out by the heater. The water is kept at 78 degrees. When I put a mirror in front of him, the paleness goes away, and he stays active for a little while, but then he goes back to the heater. What could be wrong?

Just a thought.

I was thinking of getting a few mystery snails for my 10 gallon fish tank, but the guy at PetCo said they are worthless and hard to take care of because the reproduce often. What do you think?

I'm about half way through it, and it is pure crap. Has anyone else read it? What do you think of it?
