  • 1) A set of 50 data values has a mean of 48 and a variance of 9.?

HELP NEEDED URGENTLY! This class is destroying my GPA and I really just do not get it! Any help is appreciated!

    1) A set of 50 data values has a mean of 48 and a variance of 9.

    I. Find the standard score (z) for a data value = 43.

II. Find the probability of a data value < 43.

    2) Find the area under the standard normal curve:

    I. to the right of z = -1.72

II. to the left of z = -1.72

    3. Assume that the population of heights of male college students is approximately normally distributed with mean m of 70 inches and standard deviation s of 3.65 inches. Show all work.

    (A) Find the proportion of male college students whose height is greater than 68 inches.

    (B) Find the proportion of male college students whose height is no more than 68 inches.

    4. The diameters of grapefruits in a certain orchard are normally distributed with a mean of 7.10 inches and a standard deviation of 0.50 inches. Show all work.

    (A) What percentage of the grapefruits in this orchard have diameters less than 6.8 inches?

    (B) What percentage of the grapefruits in this orchard are larger than 7.00 inches?

    5. Find the normal approximation for the binomial probability that x = 4, where n = 12 and p = 0.6. Compare this probability to the value of P(x=4) found in Table 2 of Appendix B in your textbook.

    6. A set of data is normally distributed with a mean of 100 and standard deviation of 15.

    · What would be the standard score for a score of 90?

    · What percentage of scores is between 100 and 90?

    · What would be the percentile rank for a score of 90?

  • please help...math is not my thing!?

Please please please help. I am a legal studies student and really do not understand this math stuff!

A mini license plate for a toy car must consist of two numbers followed by a letter. Each number must be a 7, 8 or 9. Each letter must be a C, A or R. Repetition of digits is NOT permitted.

    1. Use the counting principle to determine the number of points in the sample space.

    2. Construct a tree diagram to represent this situation and submit it to the week 5, assignment 2 dropbox.

    3. List the sample space.

    4. Determine the exact probability of creating a mini license plate with an R. Give solution exactly in reduced fraction form.

Suppose 39 newly created pairs of jeans are placed in a bin to be checked for quality. Of these, 4 will not be of high enough quality to sell. Suppose that two pairs of jeans are randomly selected, without replacement, from the bin. What is the chance that both pairs of jeans selected will be substandard? Show step by step work! Give solution as a reduced fraction in lowest terms and approximated to the nearest ten thousandth

  • Algebra homework help please?

Can somebody help me with this problem?

    z^2-2z + 1/z^2 -1 multiplied by 1/4z^2 - z - 3

I have factored the first set to (z-1)(z-1)/(z-1)(z+1) but I cannot get the second factorization of 4z^2 - z - 3

    Thanks!

  • A legal and ethical question?

I lost the center diamond out of my wedding ring three years ago. I had insured it so the insurance company replaced the diamond. Yesterday I was cleaning out my closet and I found the diamond in the carpet in a corner! Do I the right to keep it and have another piece of jewelry made. Or do I have the right to sell it as a loose stone? I do not want to be guilty of insurance fraud! It was legitimately lost and I am still paying insurance premiums for the new diamond.

  • my neighbor leaves her 12, 9, 4 year old and 8 month old home alone all night, is this legal in Georgia?

We have confirmed that the children are alone from 6pm until 7am. The 12 year old takes care of all the kids. The mom is either a stripper or an escort and brings men home sometimes and the kids are sent out to "play" while mom gets busy! What do I do? Call the cops, or DFACS?? The kids are well dressed, well fed, sweet kids. I don't want to tear a family up, but I think the kids are being neglected while mom does her own thing!!!!!!!!

  • Tax amounts under Bush vs Clinton?

According to www.taxfoundation.com a married couple making $60,000.00 paid $16800.00 in income taxes under Clinton, the same family pays $9000.00 under President Bush's tax plan. That is a difference of $7800.00 in the TAX payers favor. How can anybody with an ounce of common sense say that the tax cuts only favor the rich? A single person making $30,000.00 pays $3900.00 less in taxes with the Bush tax cuts than he or she did when Clinton was President. I don't understand how people can be so obtuse and not realize how much EVERYONE has benefitted under the new tax laws. They WILL expire in 2010 and you can bet your tax refund on it that every American family will have anywhere from $4500 - $10000 less in their pocket every year. Hildabeast and Obama know how to spend YOUR money better.....how many of you will vote for them knowing they can't wait to get their hands on this money that is rightfully yours?
