How do you update BIOS with no floppy or Hard Drive?
My brother has a motherboard (asrock p4v88+) with BIOS version 1.20 on it. He recently purchased the WD640aals SATA hard drive (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N8... and wants to put it with this motherboard.
However, the BIOS doesn't recognize the SATA drive, although it does recognize the IDE drives. The SATA drive works fine - we formatted it in ext4 (linux) on a another computer). Now, I am assuming that the BIOS doesn't support the drive for one reason or another, and I'd like to update it to 1.70 (the latest).
Now my problem is that the BIOS also will not recognize any floppy drives. So I tried to boot to DOS 6.22 and pull the BIOS update utility from the Hard drive.
However, DOS won't let me switch to C:, (or d: thru z:), so I can't do that. After that, I tried to put the bios update files on the same CD as the DOS boot CD, and update that way. But then when I type dir *.exe, it doesn't show that my BIOS update utility is in there, and it doesn't run when I type the name.
So... now I'm stuck. How can I update my BIOS, or, in lieu of that, get this hard drive to work?
