  • I have a new job cross country and...?

    I want to hear from people in the Oakland, CA area. I will be an AmeriCorps volunteer, so I won't have oodles of money to spend on rent, food and so forth. I would like to know about crime, school system (I have a five year old daughter who will be in K), opportunities for artistic expression (I am a poet), and how to find decent places to live for under $1000/ month. I will be moving in August from Indiana.
