  • Trying to find a show name...?

I have a 4 yr old Draft cross mare I need show name ideas for.

Her barn name is Shazam, sometimes Sham. The name doesn't have to be related to her barn name.

I am doing pleasure with her, and we are going to be doing XC & speed before to long.

  • How much is she worth?

I am selling my horse, we simply do not mesh. She needs to be worked more often then I have time or she gets testy and then needs a week to get over it. I am not sure how much to ask for her as I don't sell horses very much. I also bought her last year totally un broke so I can't go by that. :P

    15.3 hand

    4 yrs old

    Belgian X mare

Works off the leg, backs, pivots off leg etc.

Collects except she sometimes looses it at the trot.

Not hyper but not lazy either.

Started over very small jumps a few times and has nice form.

    Feet done 4 weeks ago

    Teeth done 4 weeks ago

    Wormed 2 months ago.

She has been on 8 mile trail rides, loves trails! Not spooky.

Good with other horses but can be pushy.

She is more collected now than in this picture but its one that is uploaded.

  • Good Show name for a Belgian X for english?

Her barn name is Shazam, but we call her Sham a lot. :)

She was rescued when she was a baby & she is a Belgian X. No one knows with what.

I am right now just schooling her at small shows. As of now I plan to do 3 day eventing(that is a while down the road as she is only 4) and some hunter jumper with her & need a show name.

    http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=21998141286...

All I can really say about her is that is is around 15.2 hands, and is stubborn but smart, lol. :)

  • What clearances should a Golden have?

I am going to be getting a Golden Retriever sometime this summer. What health clearances should the parents have? I know their hips need to be cleared but can't remember the rest as the last time I bought a Golden was 7 yrs ago. :)

  • Where can I post an ad for a Lizard? How much to sell for?

I have a Leo & a Beardie I am looking t find new homes for. I am going to school soon & have to cut down on my pets.

I am wondering if anyone knows (other than pet sotres) where I could post an ad for them

The Beardie is around a yr old he has a stubby tail and is light sand colored. He is not friendly & he was rescued from someone who was starving him. He is healthy now. He will come with him 55 gallon aquarium, heat lamp, heat mat, feed bowls, logs, sand etc.

The Leo is a 2 1/2 yr old girl. She is semi tame and is an average color for a Leo. She will come with her while set up including a 20 gallon long tank, heat mat etc.

    Thanks!

  • Micklem Competition Bridles?

Have you ever used a Micklem bridle & what did you think of it?

I have a coming 4 yr old Draft X that I will be using for XC & am considering getting one for her. She is sensitive to the bridle and gets sore behind her ears easily, even though her bridle fits & I do not have it ti tight.

  • Starting a Horse over jumps?

I have a coming 4 yr old Belgian X I am planning to start very lightly on jumps this year. In a few years I will be doing XC with her so it's very important to me that she is not afraid of jumps. :)

She is used to walking and trotting over poles, boards & tarps and the only thing I have had an issue that I haven't worker her through is water(but she is coming along).

I am wondering the best type of jump & way to start her this summer that will build confidence in her.

I am currently looking for an experienced jumping trainer to get lessons from but my last trainer didn't work out so I am in between.

  • Has anyone used a Courbtte Vision Saddle?

I recently purchased a Courbette Vision eventing saddle I am wondering what everyone things of this brand and the price I paid. I don't know a lot about saddles but this one seemed really nice & like it would fit my Belgian X.

It is a 17.5 seat & in very good condition, very little wear. I paid $450 with the whole saddle set.

  • I am considering leasing out my horse?

I have a 3 yr old Belgian X mare. I got her intending to use her for jumping, and I didn't consider the fact that I can't start jumping her for at least a year, and then only once in a while with tiny jumps.

I am of course, really attached. She is the 1st horse I trained on my own and I have had her for 6 months and spend a lot of this with her.

My sister suggested leasing her out so I can buy another horse for now, and use her later on down the road if I want. I like this idea becuase don't have to sell her, yet she will be getting used.

I would have to be an off site lease. She is young, but already an amazing trail horse and has potential to do anything when she is old enough.

How does leasing work, and how much should I charge? It seems like I would be hard pressed to find someone to lease a 3 yr old, but maybe not.

Thanks for any advice and tips. :)

  • Does this horse have potential to jump?

I am looking to get a horse I will be able to use for HJ and maybe XC down the road. I have always loved Appies, and I found this guy. He is 16 hands & 5 yrs old.

I don't know very much about judging a horses build, so I was hoping someone that does could take a look at the 1st minute of this video and see when they think of this horse.

  • What should I name my new horse?

She is a 16 hand 3 yr old Belgian/x, we think STB. I do not want a common name like Daisy or April or sSweetie.

My other horses are Midnight & Haku. She has great movement & would love to name her after a dance, but I do not like Mambo or Tango.

    Thanks!

P.S. I love nature names that are not common, and Japanese names.

  • What should I name my horse?

I got a new horse yesterday, she is coming home next week. She is a Belgian cross(unkown, any ideas?), I think with STB.

She is 3 yrs old and 16 hands. Yes she is cow hocked, but she is 3 and never had her feet done. I think that is what is causing most of it.

  • How to you measure to see how wide a tree is?

I got an english saddle in a trade last summer. I had to buy all 4 saddles just to get the one I wanted, lol. It worked out because I sold one saddle alone for more than I payed for all of them.

One is a 17" dressage saddle and I need to know if is a medium or wide tree. It seems wide to me, but it's the 1st dressage saddle I have been around in about 5 yrs, so I am not sure how differently it would be built than my jumping saddle.

    Thanks!

  • Interesting Horse Facts?

I am just wondering, what some interesting, lesser known things about horses you know. I just found this and found it kind of interesting!

"The Horse belongs to the Equus Family. Equus comes from the ancient Greek word meaning "QUICKNESS." Cool, eh?

So, what do you know that is interesting about horses?

  • I'm Heart Broken...Who to bring, who to leave?

I am going to a new barn soon. I am going to be a working student there for at least the summer. I can bring 1 horse, and my problem is I don't want to leave either of my 2 "main" horses!

Me & me sisters each have our own horses, then there are 2 we share. One is more mine than theirs in a sense.

I have Midnight, he is trained, and I ride him all the time. I am extremely attached to him, I adore him and ride him as much as I can. If I bring him, my lessons will no doubt go much faster than the lesson horse there.

I also have Chloe, an untrained horse. So you see the problem, lol. I can bring her and get help training her, and ride a lesson horse for lessons if I want. I am also not to sure how well my sisters will do training her.

    So, which would you do?

Oh, by the way. The other horse will be at my parents house. 25 minutes away. I can always switch who I bring later.
