Am I overreacting about staying home with my children instead of vacation?
My sister-in-law in getting married in her hometown which is overseas a 15 hr flight and my husband and I will have a 6 week old infant(girl) and a 2 1/2 year old boy. It was a nightmare when we went for our Christmas vacation with only one child.. The flight was difficult as my son wanted to roam around and NOT sit in his seat. The time change and environment change was brutal on me and my son..my husband didn't really have it hard as I did most of the waking up and taking care of our son as he responds best with mom (cries if mom isn't taking care of him-I believe he's just so attached to me-I'm a stay at home mom). I have a few concerns: 1)concern is the pressure of the ears to an infant when flying and any other health issues (air-recirculation). I want to be there for my in law's wedding but I don't want to put my daughter, son or myself through any discomfort. 2) All of the obligations of staying out late, eating late, time change-I will probably be the one staying up taking care of both children while trying to breastfeed. 3) Time change coming back took 2 weeks for my son to adjust..so now vacation hardship will be for 5 weeks with a newborn... I know the culture is different and they don't see it like how i do..they've sent me emails (more like guilt trip emails) on how sad it is that I've told them that only my husband is going and now I feel like the bad person..I know it will be very difficult but I'm trying to weigh the pros and cons of going. Also, I wouldn't let my son go with father because he hasn't really bonded with him and father hardly spends time with son due to work..So I'm afraid of the whole abandonment issues that my son might go through.. the trip is 3 weeks and I feel that's just too long to be away from mom, doctors in the states and to hard for me.. Thanks

My son is 2 1/2 yrs old and is very attached to me(mom). My husband wants to take him out of the country for 3 weeks and I can't imagine how tramatized he might be. My husband works long hours and doesn't see him during the week much and on the weekends my husband doesn't take him out for son and father time. So my son is always with me. He wants mom to change his diaper/ take him out of the bath/change his clothes/feed him...if i'm not there he doesn't eat well. Would it be advisable to allow him to take him overseas. My heart says NO but other people say I should take advantage of being away from him...I can't imagine how he might feel without mommy... I can see for a couple of days but 3 weeks..any food for thought to ease my mind..thanks

1 AnswerHealth & Safety1 decade agotoddler bed transition?
Hi,
My 20 month old boy used to go to sleep in his crib with no problems. I recently took a 2 week vacation to visit family. I took my pack and play with us so that he can sleep (naps and bedtime). he cried most of the time and I was very concerned that my relatives were going to be bothered at 11pm and later. so I let my son sleep with me on the queen bed. He slept so good that I didn't even bother putting him in the pack and play. When we returned home, he didn't want anything to do with his crib. My husband says that I have spoiled him and now I feel as if I did something terribly wrong. He's also become VERY attached to me-I'm also a stay at home mom. I've been reading that we can transition him to a toddler bed but I'm still a bit concerned if I'm jumping into this prematurely. He doesn't crawl out of his crib but he's getting taller and he jumps up and down in the crib..thanks for your help
1 AnswerToddler & Preschooler1 decade agoMy toddler jumps way to much...is this normal?
Hi, my 17 month old boy has been jumping ever since he came into this world so I'm not too concerned but I wanted to get your feedback. Does it damage or help him? Someone mentioned that he likes jumping because of the sensation in his ear...WEIRD but maybe true..Any comments would be appreciated. NOTE: he wakes up jumping up and down as soon as he wakes and he wants me to hold him while I'm on the yoga ball so that I can jump up and down..I then find him jumping on the sofa until he tires himself..Of course I make sure he won't hurt himself..his jumperoooo is too small for him now...Thanks

Hi,
For the past month i've started to wean my little boy now 6 months. i used to pump around 6-10 ounces each time i now pump 2 ounces, my breast are not engored but i still feel a little tingle/itch sensation. I am going on vacation overseas and was wondering if I should take my breast pump. Am I technically done? how would i know? I was thinking of just having my son feed anytime i felt that sensation but he already bites...ouch.

6 AnswersNewborn & Baby1 decade agoMy 7 week old baby is a light sleeper...should i be worried?
After getting him to fall asleep, I put him in his bassinett and he'll hear a noise (foot steps for example) and he'll wake up.. I tried holding him for more than half an hour to make sure he's fallen asleep and still wakes up...
6 AnswersNewborn & Baby1 decade agoPumping and storing breast milk (foremilk vs. hindmilk)?
Because i have a strong letdown reflex, the lactation specialist sugessted that I pump right before i feed my son due to his challenge swallowing/choking. I figured I could save that milk in the freezer BUT my question is: will i be storing foremilk only? without the hindmilk? what should i do with the expressed milk before feeding? Isn't Hindmilk the better of the two... this is really confusing for a first time mom..thanks for your help!!!
