  • Roommate house-rules? How to ask roommate to help keep the house clean, pay for household items and to contribute to meals?

I took in a roommate to help a friend out because she was in a difficult situation. I did not need the extra income to pay my bills but it is an added bonus at the end of the month. I came up with $400.00 monthly to include cable and utilities. I said you are welcome to eat with us because I tend to make extra.

What I did not expect to encounter is that every meal she is relaying on me to cook, not cleaning up after herself ( example dishes left in the sink or in the living room), using my laundry soap, and the last roll of toilet paper. I am finding this to be turning into a disaster. Nor did I aspect her bathroom to be a disaster area. The toilet bowl is a funky yellow color with a black rim and the floor covered in dirty clothes. In the original verbal agreement I had asked to make sure she keeps it clean because it doubles as my guest bathroom.

In addition I am finding that my power bill and grocery bill has went up significantly more than what I expected. The bills have more than doubled. I have come home from work and found all the lights on in the main part of the house plus the TV and in her room as well.

How can I ask her to help out more around the house and contribute to household items? I do not want to leave passive aggressive notes stating please turn off lights before leaving or anything like that. I want to keep our friendship and my house clean.

Is it fair for me to increase the rent? Can I ask for contributions to household items?

  • Demon dreams?

A little history about me.... I left my ex-husband two years ago because emotional abuse. We were divorced this year, which is a blessing. Two years ago when I left my ex-husband, I tried to commit suicide and was hospital for 2 weeks for cardiovascular failure. Since my attempt I have been in therapy. We made a break through with my depression and anxiety last week. I admitted to my therapist that my ex would make statements of no will love you like I can, your my only friend. This has been a secret I have kept from therapist, friends, family, and support group.

For the last few nights I have been having dreams of a demon trying to enter my body and fighting it off. It felt pretty real and disturbing. Well, last night I had a dream again. This time when I went to fight the demon my mother was in the dream- telling me she got him. In my dream I kept telling her it is waiting in the living room. Than I woke up. Any explanations to why this is occurring?

  • What to do if the ex-fiancee wants to borrow money?

Here is a little back ground about my ex and I. We were together for four years and broke up in 2001. Anyhow, he has a battle with health problems in the last couple of years and I have remained a friend to him. Trying to help him and be a friend. I do feel sorry for him but that is about all I feel.

Well, I have not told my husband of 2 years that my ex call and ask to borrow money. My husband has always hated the fact that I have remain a friend to my ex and would rather I never talk to him. I have tried to respect my husband wishes.

So my ex told me his gf broke up with him, has been in the hospital, and well is low on rent. He wants to borrow 300 to get buy for the rest of the month. He has said he is unsure when or if he can pay me back. Of course I will have to ask my husband if I can loan him the money but I feel guilty. My husband hates the fact that I have contact with my ex.

Should I loan the money without telling my husband and tell my ex this is it, and not to contact me again.

Explain to my husband and loan him the money

Or tell my ex I can not and wish him well?

So confused and I know my husband will be very upset.
