1 AnswerMathematics9 years agoi found this question to be kinda...simple?
here you go...10 easy points...at least two possible answers...
you're outside of a room. in this room are two light bulbs: one stays on all the time, the other only comes on when the door is open. how do you tell which light bulb is which?
try not to use set theory or venn diagrams for this solution. easy algebra at the most is all that is needed here. however...don't stop at one answer, give at least two. push yourself to think outside the box. there is more to day than dawn...the sun is but a morning star.
good luck.
5 AnswersMathematics10 years agocounting cats...actually it's cubits and not cats?
this is one of those travel questions that translates well into any language and can be a great conversation starter. here goes:
a tourist has a 10 x 10 x 10 cube comprised of individual 'cubits' (atomic cubes that cannot be further subdivided). now the tourist paints the outside of the big 10 x 10 x 10 cube with 'pumpkin pie brown' paint. how many of the 'cubits' did he paint?
of course you can use any color that goes well with the local taste: Quebec - artic snow white; Argentina - blazing sunflower yellow etc.
well, good luck and remember to show your work.
1 AnswerMathematics10 years agocan i toss a coin and possibly go to Montana?
The company I work for is going to send a person to Montana for a 'conference'. The choice is between a guy in Heartbroken Conn (USA) and myself in Slapout Okla but we're supposed to decide who. So my question: How can we toss a coin (fairly) when we're 2000 miles apart (give or take a couple of miles)? I need to determine this outcome in the next 15 minutes and we don't trust each other so getting another person involved is out of the question.
Any other ideas than a coin toss? I'm looking for a mathematical answer.
3 AnswersMathematics1 decade agogeneral help - very, very easy. too easy...?
general yahoo answers question - i, the questioner, ask a question (like this one) and eventually, it goes to voting and resolved status. HOW can I enter My answer and share that with the rest of the community.
I've searched help to no avail. Best thing I've found so far are comments and they're kinda lame.
Thanks in advance...

4 AnswersMathematics1 decade agoHow wide is the stream?
I have this large stream/small river that runs thru my property and have always been curious as to how far it is to the opposite shore. Is there any way to tell the width of the stream?
I have no equipment (other than me and my hat) and I can't swim a lick. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.
