  • Where should we relocate to? ?

My husband's company will probably be closing within two years. We both have lived in Minnesota our entire lives (which is 40years). We've been seriously thinking about starting out new in an entirely different state. We are both tired of the cold and the snow, so warmer would be nice. Not too humid. We dont really want desert climate either. Someplace where the economy is still doing ok, since we would have to find jobs. Any suggestions on cities we should consider?

  • Cichlids for a 20 gal (high)?

I used to have a 75 gal with lake malawi cichlids. I have well water that is hard so they did very well. They bred sucessfully. Unfortunatly, I no longer have that tank or those fish. Right now I only have a 20 gal but I really enjoy cichlids. Are there any cichlids that would be suitable for a 20 gal tank with hard water?

  • Can two family dogs run down and kill deer?

A friend who lives in a rural area had her dogs shot by a neighbor because they chase deer. Both dogs are purebred Labs. One died, the other has to have surgery. They are well fed, friendly, family dogs. I personally don't believe a couple of dogs could possibly run down and kill a healthy deer. There does seem to be a common belief around there though that loose dogs are killing deer. I'm trying to find an article or some kind of proof one way or the other.

  • First prenatal visit?

I am 6 weeks pregnant. The doctors at my clinic don't see you for your first prenatal visit until you are between 10 and 12 weeks. It seems like everyone else has gone in around 6 to 8 weeks. Anyone out there have their first visit around 10 -12 weeks per doctors request? Did you get an ultrasound automatically? Just curious why my clinic would be different.

I should add that you are supposed to see a nurse with a pregnancy program before your first visit. (My appt. is next week.) I guess she gives you a packet of info and also goes over your medical history.

Also, when you call to tell them you are pregnant and you would like to make an appt., they make you speak to a nurse and she calls in a prescription for prenatal vitamins.

  • Why are you supposed to avoid these foods?

I heard you are supposed to avoid deli meats when pregnant. I also just read on here that you are supposed to avoid soft serve ice cream. Why?

  • Did you trust your first positive HPT?

This is just sort of a fun poll. I had a positive hpt today, missed period, very sore boobs and I'm sure I'm pregnant. But, for some silly reason I want to waste my money on another test to see "for sure".

Anyone else take another test even though you knew you were pregnant?

  • Question for BBT charting experts?

Which temp would you choose to chart? I was awake at 3:30am from my puppy. I tossed and turned until my alarm went off at 5:45. I took my temp then like I normally do. It was 97.97. I read somewhere that you should be sleeping for at least 3 hours before you temp. I definatly wasn't sleeping.

When I got home from work I took a two hour nap. I slept very well. I decided to take my temp before I got up and it was 98.68.

I am 9DPO today and AF is due within the next couple of days. ( I'm hoping she doesn't show up though :)

  • Butternuts?

My new home has a butternut tree. I've been told they are very good to eat. I've picked up the ones that have fallen off the tree. What do I do with them now? Do I dry them out somehow? Do I peel the outside?

  • Does anyone think a dog stinks after they've been out in the sun?

My boyfriend thinks our Lab mix stinks after she's been out in the sun. He says it lasts about 20 minutes. I don't smell it and I've never heard of anything like that.

  • Why won't my avatar change?

I've changed my avatar once before. Yes, I click "save changes". I go to edit my info, and I choose to use my yahoo avatar. It will change my avatar in Yahoo mail, but not in Answers. Has anyone else had this problem? It's really bugging me.

  • Bats in the attic?

I live in Minnesota. Last fall, for about a week, when I went to bed I would hear this scratching noise in the attic or sort of sounds like its in the wall close to the ceiling. Once, I briefly heard this high pitch squealing sort of noise. Then it quit. A couple weeks ago, after I went to bed I heard a tiny bit of scratching again. I haven't since then. Does this sound like bats? Do they hibernate but still occasionally make noise? I live in a rambler so my attic isn't the type you just go into. I don't think I have mice. I've never seen any mouse droppings anywhere in my house. Also, my dad is very allergic to mice, and he has never had a reaction when coming to my house.

  • Has your dog ever acted like they've seen a ghost?

I'm down in the basement and all of a sudden my dog is growling with her tail between her legs and looking at the stairs. I don't see or hear anything, but she's freaking me out. She doesn't normally act like this. I'm the only one home, so nobody is upstairs.

  • Dwarf Pleco?

Is there such a thing as a dwarf Pleco? I've had one in a 55gal tank for over a year and it's only about 3", not much bigger than when I got it. It eats on the tank and I feed it algae discs. It looks very healthy. My tank is not overcrowed. I only have a total of 21" of fish.

  • Have you taken a home pregnancy test and...?

Have you noticed any correlation between early pregnancy symptoms and early positive HPT results? If your pregnancy symptoms did not start right away or were not severe did you have a negative test result at first? I have a regular cycle and I am 10 days late. My breasts just started getting sore 3 days ago. I definately feel more tired. I took a home pregnancy test today and it was negative. I have been having a cramp in my calf all day, which is not something I get. I had been having very light menstrual cramps off and on, but they stopped a couple days ago. The last time I was pregnant was 13 years ago. I don't remember having much for pregnancy symptoms. ( I found out I was pregnant with my son from a blood test I had to have for other reasons, so I never took a HPT. )

  • Do Angelfish normally eat their eggs?

I have a 55gal tank with 5 Angels and 2 Bala sharks. I have one breeding pair that has laid eggs many times on the filter tube. They guard the eggs very well from the other fish. The eggs only last 2-3 days because the parents start eating them. Why do this and is there anything I can do differently?
