  • Could you describe a usual working day?

    Okay guys, I need help with coming up with an occupation of my main character in my new book. It’s a woman, 35 years old, educated. I envision her in an office. I was thinking for example some executive person in a foreign language school. She is also responsible for some human relations / propagation work, perhaps a bit of accounting. Could you PLEASE, anyone who has experience with such kind of work, describe how a usual day might look like, so that I could work with it in my book? Like – she comes at 9, makes coffee, reads emails… etc. etc… Big thanks in advance!!

  • Searching for a cool character nickname?

    Hi, I am taking part in a role play site. Each person is under a nickname. I have joined quite late, so many nicknames are already taken. My "house" (the group I belong in) is green, so I wanted to use nickname Emerald. But it is already taken. So I wanted to take Sapphire or Diamond (as that sounds cool), but also already taken. I also tried Hope, Fate or Destiny. Already taken. Etc.

    So I would like to ask for ideas.

    It can be basically ANYTHING. Though I'd like it to sound PROUD. But not too "obvious", so I exclude things like Queen, if you know what I mean.

    Personal names are not allowed. Not even mythological names.

    Anyone help with ideas?

  • How to write in captcha script?

    I would like to imitate a captcha script. Does anybody know some captcha converter - the one where I can write someting in normal type, and it gets converted to captcha script, just for fun? Because sometimes the real captcha manages to write a word that makes sense. So I would like to pretend that this happened and I made a screen shot of it...

  • How can I tell if a woman is open to another woman?

    I mean - I am most probably bisexual. It took me a lot of time to face it and admit it to myself. But I never tried anything with a woman. I do like some women from time to time, but there is no way how to tell if they would be open to trying something more, like a kiss, a touch... something like that. I would really like to try it very much, but I would definitely feel stupid if I tried something and there would be no positive reaction. Any advice will be most welcome!

  • How to overcome aversion to Facebook?

    Ever since Facebook was created I didn't want it. I still don't. But I write books, and my publisher told me I should set up an account on Facebook to promote my works. I'm fine with promoting my writings, but I feel strange about Facebook in general. As if I let people spying on me. Does anyone have similar feelings, and if yes, what did you do to overcome your aversion to Facebook, if you did?

  • What TV series would you recommend?

    I have two favourite TV series - Lost and the ER. I like it especially because they have "strong" characters there, played by Elizabeth Mitchell, Josh Holloway, Evangeline Lilly in Lost, or Sherry Stringfield, Noah Wyle and Maura Tierney in the ER. I have watched Sex and the City and the Big Bang Theory, and I have tried the new series Revenge and Revolution (but I don't like the two latter). I also don't like crimi series. Is there something you could recommend? It can be "older" like Lost or the ER...

  • How to tell my best friend I am probably bisexual?

    I have started to admit to myself that I'm probably bisexual. Not that I'd have an experience with women (so far I've been only with men), but I am strongly attracted to one actress and it's not the first time that this happened to me. But my best friend is very conservative and if I told her that I probably am bisexual she wouldn't accept it, it might be the end of our friendship - I guess. Maybe not, because we are really close and I think she is really attached to me. But what if I do? Any advice would be very welcome...

  • I'm in love with a woman and I'm a girl - what to do?

    I'm watching the ER series and I realized I'm totally in love with Abby Lockhart (Maura Tierney). But I am a girl - and I used to think I'm straight, so far I dated only men. But with Maura I can imagine kissing and everything else. Maybe I am a closeted bisexual (because I wouldn't give up making love to men either). But - how can I find out? How can I get the experience with a woman? I don't want to visit some lesbian bars or something... Any advises? Thanks in advance...

  • Recommend me an interesting French sitcom to watch please!?

    I would like to deepen my knowledge of French by watching some good French sitcom, something like the American series The Big Bang Theory, or Red Dwarf, or even things like Friends, Beverly Hills 90210 etc. My friend recommended Plus Belle La Vie. Would you have any other recommendations? I like comedies, as well as sci-fi or every day life situations. I don't like detective stories such as CSIs. Thanks in advance!

  • Help me with Middle East fictional names please?

    Do you remember like there was the fictional state of Qumran in the British series Yes Minister? It is in reality a town in the West Bank, but the authors of the series used it to name a state. I am writing a story where I need help to:

    1) to name a fictional country, which would be parallel to any Middle East country like Iraq, Syria etc. (no particular religious or ethnic affiliation, but with Islamic law code);

    2) to name a dictator, like Bashar Assad, or Saddam Hussein;

    3) to name a "good guy", that will eventually replace him after a coup.

    Could you give me ideas for that? Thanks!

  • What is the name of this movie?

    Two best friends are somewhere in the mountains in deep snow, possibly Himalaya. One of them is falling off a cliff, the other holding him by a hand. The guy holding the other knows that he must let go of his best friend - or they both die. So he lets go. But the other guy who falls survives and finally makes it to a civilisation. Anyone can tell the name of this movie? Thanks!!!

  • New movie of Elizabeth Mitchell?

    Does anyone know what Elizabeth Mitchell is working on now? I have already watched Answers to Nothing (found it boring, to be honest) and I haven't heard of anything she might be planning to do now. I love her in "Lost" and "V2009". Any piece of info will be welcome!

  • I seek advice in developing a plot?

    I am writing a book where a 12 year old girl has only her father. But her father is mostly working abroad and due to the working duties can come back home about once in a month or two and only for a few days. So she has to have full-time baby-sitters. The story takes place in Prague, Czech Republic. What I cannot come up with is - what occupation should her father do, so that he would be based abroad, while being Czech? He cannot be a diplomat, because then he would have her daughter with him. What else could he do? Thanks a lot for any ideas!

  • Help please: Song "Be quiet kind and gentle"?

    There is a catchy song from "Gerald McBoing Boing" cartoons from the '50s, with this refrain:

    "Be quiet, kind, and gentle, Quiet, kind, and gentle, Quite, kind, and gentle In everything you do,

    Be quiet, kind, and gentle, Quiet, kind, and gentle, And Heaven will smile on you!"

    I'm trying to find the video or at least audio of it. It is not on Youtube, or anywhere else. Can anyone provide a link where I can download it or at least listen to it? Thanks!
