  • iPod Touch 3g 8Gb cracked screen - do I order a 2g replacement?

From What I read on Amazon (and Wikipedia) The iTouch 3g 8Gb is essentially an iTouch 2g.

Some reviewers on Amazon ordered a 3g digitizer/screen/bezel (for their 3g) and it didn't fit their 8Gb 3g.

Some commenters said that you need a 2g digitizer/screen/bezel to fit the 8Gb iTouch even though it is a 3g. They went on to say that the bezel would have fit an iTouch 3g 16Gb and 32Gb.

    Which digitizer/screen/bezel do I order? 2g or 3g?

    Thanks

  • Alt key codes stopped working?

I have used the alt key and numeric keypad many times (my name has an accent in it).

    Recently this function stopped working.

My numeric keypad works normally. My ALT keys work normally.

I have tried with either ALT key.

I realize I could use "Character Map" (and I have created a key-combination to launch it quickly), but I would prefer just to restore the normal <ALT>- keycode function like before.

If I try any alt key codes, there is nothing displayed. Not the wrong character, not a space or a empty square, just nothing. I have tried in various software and tried various fonts.

    Windows Vista home

    HP desktop

How do I fix this? (Why did it stop working properly?)

  • Garage with basement design - parking on prestressed slabs or ...?

I'm designing a residential garage with basement underneath. The foundation will be conventional concrete. However the floor to support the vehicles is a design / engineering problem.

Is it less expensive overall to use:

    A) prestressed concrete slabs (such as hollow core or perhaps double T)

or B) stage and form and then pour concrete reinforced with rebar?

This is for a modest residential two-car garage attached (tied-in) to the home's existing foundation. probably 22x22 or 24x24 feet.

We have many freeze-thaw cycles per year. I don't think we want a wood floor, unless you have a good reason.

I would like to hear from anyone with experience using the prestressed/prefab concrete products. Also was it easy to find an engineer to sign off on the plans.

Please also send in any useful links, thanks.

  • What song should I play first on my new headphones?

I got my first "grown up" headphones during boxing week. (full over the ear 'cans' - audiophile type.) They're being shipped as we speak.

In anticipation , I am considering which song to play first. I'd like to hear your favorites, and why. Thank you.

(I do have some songs in mind, I'm looking for ideas. Any genre is fine - I want to experience what these phones can do)

  • Child support - Maintenance variation. What happens in court during the application? ?

If I apply for an increase child support, what happens during court when I appear before the Judge with my application? There is nothing in my existing court order to increase the payment over time, it has been the same for about nine years. I've heard other people get a change every year based on the payer's tax return, but that is not mentioned in my order either. I have no wage info, no tax info, and no change in support (for a hungry teenager). Has anyone gone through this ? would love to hear how it went. (especially looking for Canadian experiences. also I'm representing myself...) Thanks.

  • Why is Larch called Juniper in Nova Sotia?

There are lots of anecdotal examples around, but how/why is Larch (Tamarack) sometimes referred to as a Juniper? Larch is deciduous, Juniper is coniferous. Although in some areas Juniper can grow into a large tree, it is mostly a shrub, especially in eastern Canada, Tamarack Larch is used in shipbuilding, and construction where water resistance is important. I have also seen a fine example of Tamarack flooring!

  • I want to chose a "best answer" but the community already chose one!?

How can I choose the best answer for my question? It seems another (inferior) answer was chosen as best with a total of 1 vote.

My question may be "closed" already, I'll have to go and check. Also, I tried clicking on the 'thumbs up' icon - I don't know if that is how you vote - but it said I had to be level 2 (I am currently level 1).

    Any help appreciated.

  • Dark matter?

Is an undiscovered planet with no star considered dark matter, as it does not emit or reflect light?

What about interstellar cosmic dust (from which planets eventually may coalesce) is that dark matter? (e.g. NASA launches a lump of coal into interstellar space)

Or must "dark matter" be more mysterious than that?

Supplemental Question: Considering the rapid rate of discovery of extra-solar planets, is the assumed mass of planets around all stars being increased and could that approach the value required to render dark matter unneccessary, or account for some "missing mass"?

  • If a broker with a seat on a foreign stock echange performs a trade on behalf of my broker it is called?

It's a financial term, one word, might sound like 'jalipity' or something like that.
